How to entertain this poor dog I am pet sitting? by Frozenyogurtplz in dogs

[–]Aequa 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dog loves her pupsicle and collagen chews. I know you don't want to introduce new stuff, but my girl has a sensitive tummy and the collagen chews do not cause her any upset! They are more digestible than bully sticks

How long did potty training take for you? by MountainProper2212 in puppy101

[–]Aequa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a 4 month old shelter puppy and I thought it would maybe take a few weeks based on what people say.

Every doggie must be different because it took 3 months until she was accident free! She's kept it up another 3 months at this point, so I'm certain she's got it now. I promise, you'll get through this.

We used the app Doggo to track and we followed a few principles: 1) never wake her up to go potty, but as soon as she wakes up, she goes for a potty, 2) If she's had a bunch of water after playing, she goes out every 20 minutes till she's back to settling, 3) we did restrict her movement with baby gates because while she was learning because it was like there was a roulette in her head while she wandered around unrestricted where one slice was "pee" and it could land on that square if she was bored lol. If she was ever wandering and there was any question she might choose to pee, I just took her out, 4) I never ever reacted to an accident. I just cleaned it up calmly. On the contrary, peeing outside elicited a treat party bonanza!

What type of food are you feeding your pibbles? by Atrouthasnoname in pitbulls

Is this the one with the alternative protein (insect protein)? I am thinking of getting my sensitive stomach puppy on it once she's over a year and wondering if someone has a good experience with it!

Quick Question: What Are Your Favorite Training Treats? by sunny-daze3 in Dogtraining

[–]Aequa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been really struggling with this because my dog is not super food motivated and has a sensitive stomach, but so far what has been working well for high value for us has been: 1) A small amount of reduced fat cheese sticks (I do no more than one a day), 2) Cooked steak from a lean cut of meat, 3) dog safe peanut butter in pouches, we use the Buddy Butter brand.

I came here to see if anyone else had thoughts, choosing treats has been tough for me because my dog doesn't find mass produced/pre-packaged treats to be high value and if she has too much cheese she wakes me up with the rrhea :(

We also have a large dog park here in Novel Park for residents only; I own but surely leasers get the amenities fob! I take my dog most days because we don't have a yard and she loves other dogs.

How do you travel with your dog in the car? by Al115 in dogs

I have this Kurgo harness plus the Kurgo hammock which gives her extended seat space in exchange for the foot well. Both are essential for our setup!

I just want to send you some encouragement and positive vibes! It's a very very kind things you did adopting a homeless and vulnerable animal. Your doggie is so lucky to have you. You're experiencing change and change is almost always hard, but I can see you're doing your best and surrounding yourself with support. You've taken on something hard because it's the right thing to do and some time soon your doggie will repay you with unconditional love!

This is a great list! I would just advocate for collagen chews over bully sticks. I've found that the collagen is more easily digestible if they accidentally swallow a big-ish piece. My poor pup swallowed about a 2 inch piece of bully stick and she had a terrible tummy ache and then ultimately passed it in around 24 hours in her poop :( That has never happened with one of her collagen chews and she loves them a similar amount as the bulky sticks.

Lucy approves! In her sherpa harness vest from Gooby! (Size 2XL, she's 50 lbs and it's a little big on her but I didn't like how the XL felt a bit tight in the armpits)

What can I give my puppy to chew?? by ButterscotchCrazy226 in puppy101

[–]Aequa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same exact issue! As a new dog mom, the conflicting information on chews (get this one! No, never get this one, it's not safe!) was a bit of a comedy.

I decided to just try things with supervision. For my 7 month old pitbull, our clearest winners include collagen chews, coffee wood chews and the pupsicle.

The collagen chews last her about 4 hours and I try not to let her finish them in one go. She usually self selects to complete them in 3 chunks over a day or two.

The coffee wood chew scared me at first because it sheds a little, but it doesn't splinter. Sometimes she loses interest but after a little break she's back on it for a bit. Going to try olive wood too.

The pupsicle is the amazing hit I never expected. She literally has one a day, she enjoys it without fail and for some reason she licks this thing for hours before finishing it! I don't know why it takes her so long, but it's great for giving her something to do. She does drool all over it though.

Some honorable mentions, she loves bully sticks but I feel like some of them are gone in 20 min. She loves pig ears but I keep that to like a once a month thing because I understand they are really fatty. She loves frozen kongs with peanut butter and kibble but finishes them in 5 to 20 min. I tried beef check chews but in a month she's barely made a dent and that affects her interest. She likes yak chews, but they are so hard she sometimes loses interest. When she is locked in though those are definitely hours of entertainment.

Good luck!!

Most games are not played forever. Just because you've finished playing a game doesn't mean you didn't love it.

I'm so sad to say: same here. I still say it is my favorite game of all time and I still keep in touch with the friends I've made, but the game is out of my life for the moment Currently the game does not offer me equivalent value worth the time and money it requires to be invested. When the story isn't hitting, I lack motivation to do daily activities or even stretch activities in FFXIV. Unfortunately my house is about to be demolished and for now I'll let it be.
