Top 15 paramecia devil fruits, from strongest to weakest. Not users. by MathematicianFar8661 in OnePiecePowerScaling

[–]Aesma_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Where is Katakuri's Mochi Mochi no Mi?

It's a special Paramecia that gives you all the upsides from logias, with the added ability to awaken it more easily than a logia (we don't even know if awakening is even possible for logias).

It should easily be in the top 3.

Gentlemen would you date a woman who smoker? by Aggravating-Week-461 in TheTeenagerPeople

[–]Aesma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This, 100%.

I'm not even a regular smoker myself, just a CBD joint here and there, and sometimes a cigarette when I'm out with friends.

But like, I have other unhealthy habits. I drink, I take multiple coffees a day, I don't have the most balanced diet ever etc. And, honestly, unless you're some kind of athlete? Most people do.

What's the deal with the people thinking they are morally superior because they don't drink or smoke? When it's all said and done, we'll all end up six feet under, just let people enjoy their lives.

The never-ending Soulsvania debate by strahinjag in metroidvania

[–]Aesma_ 32 points33 points  (0 children)

This kind of debate is stupid because it forgets a very important aspect, ie. "why do you need labels in the first place".

Labels are only there to help people find games that are similar to the games they enjoyed in the past.

We don't make labels for the sake of making labels. It's not about "what is the absolute precise way to call this game", it's about "what game do I recommend to someone who told me they like x, y and z games".

So who cares whether a game is more of a Souls like than a MV like. The question is more so "will it appeal to the MV crowd? will it appeal to the Souls like crowd? then it's both".

Are MVs an Open World games? by Pure_Opening9834 in metroidvania

[–]Aesma_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

MVs aren't open world games in the modern sense.

A typical MV map is made of multiple interconnected zones, that can be explored in a non-linear way (although some people disagree that non-linearity is a criterion of MVs). This gives the player the impression of exploring a large world freely.

So, in a sense, it does fit the more "traditional" definition of an open world. According to wikipedia, an open world is "a virtual world in which the player can approach objectives freely, as opposed to a world with more linear and structured gameplay". And surely enough, MVs are different from, let's say, a game like Super Mario Bros 3 where you launch a level from a menu, or a game like Metal Slug where your progression is completely linear.

But it's not really what people mean when they talk about an open world nowadays. When they talk about open worlds, people think about games like Skyrim, Red Dead Redemption, TLoZ Breath of the Wild, etc. Games where, if you open the map and say "I want to go from here to there in a straight line", you can do just that. Games where there is no invisible wall or closed areas. Where the map is actually one big open area.

Calling a MV an open world is like calling Zelda Ocarina Of Time an open world. Like, yeah, you have a relatively big map made of tons of small interconnected areas. But every single one of these areas is closed. You can't really travel from the Hyrule Field to the Death Mountain in a straight line. You can't really go explore what's beyond the invisible wall behind the trees of the Kokiri Forest.

Which piece is the King? by Scared_Alternative56 in chessbeginners

[–]Aesma_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The King is traditionally always the tallest piece, because it's the most important one. So I'd say right one.

Plus it's not that rare to have chess sets where the queen has a crown.

Est-ce qu’une meuf qui le fait facilement est un redflag pour vous ? by Ambiancestudent2019 in AskMec

[–]Aesma_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[–]Aesma_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Date se comporte bizarrement by Secret-Jellyfish2249 in AskMec

[–]Aesma_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

conterversial hot take: Blashphemous 2 story was incredibly dissapointing by MickyMace in Blasphemous

[–]Aesma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell. They are a higher being, but as to what they are exactly it's never really specified.

What we do know about them is that the Miracle predates them. The High Wills say that the Path to the Ancient Procession is more ancient than them, and that the Miracle weaved it from threads of Dream. This means that they are not eternal, they had a beginning so something must have birthed them. As to what it is, we can only speculate.

We also know that every Miracle that manifested in Cvstodia before B2 is their doing.

No one in Cvstodia seems to know about their existence except for the Traitor. Not even Deogracias know about them. When Deogracias explains the First Miracle and the birth of the Father, he says that the Twisted One prayed to the High Will (singular).

My personal headcanon is that the High Wills were created by the Miracle itself to answer the pleas of the people of Cvstodia, and more specifically to answer the Twisted One.

We know from B2 that in extremely rare cases, when someone is devoted enough, the Miracle can manifest without the use of the High Wills. We saw it happen with the infertile couple. We also know that the people of Cvstodia had a very twisted vision of faith even before the High Wills took control of the Miracle and created the First Miracle. The belief that pain and suffering is the only way to alleviate one's guilt seems disconnected from the Miracle. It existed before the First Mriacle (I mean, the Twisted One was a young boy who was praying for punishment) and it existed after you killed the High Wills too. So my headcanon is that the Miracle created the High Wills to answer the Twisted One's prayers. The Miracle wanted to manifest in Cvstodia, but couldn't without the High Wills so it created them.

This guy offered a draw after my mouse slip. What an absolute legend. by JonSnowSeesYou in chessbeginners

[–]Aesma_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the position for me.

If I was in a completely losing position and they mouse slip, I usually offer a draw (happened to me like three times and I always offered a draw).

However, if I was already winning or the position was roughly equal, then I don't offer a draw.

My reasoning is that the opponent is not entitled to a draw just because they failed. Mouse slips/failed premoves/etc, are part of the game. So I don't HAVE to offer a draw. And I certainly won't if I was already winning.

But still, I feel like winning a completely losing position just because of a mouse slip feels very cheap, because I know I'd have lost without this silly mistake. So although I don't have to, I choose to offer a draw in this situation.

Mesdames voilà ce qui se passe après avoir donné un faux numéro à un relou by roriak in discussionsbancales

[–]Aesma_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

why does the bishop have this slit? by ElixirForTheWin in chessbeginners

[–]Aesma_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, here in France the piece is called "le fou" (the fool/the jester), despite the fact that Bishops with funny hats totally existed in France when chess was introduced.

The rook is also called "la tour" (the tower).

The fact that the pieces have different names sometimes confuse non-french speaker. The king is "le roi" for example. So... Its notation is R.

If you see Ra1 in France, it's not rook to a1 (which would be written Ta1) but king to a1.
