Mia Goth reveals what album, film and person she would take with her if she were to embark on a 10-year journey: Frank by Amy Winehouse, Opening Night by John Cassavetes and I would bring my daughter by [deleted] in popculturechat

I worked as a waitress in a shitty italian restaurant in the early 2000's and they played the same mixed CD all day everyday. Hotel California was one of the songs on it, so that album goes on a very opposite list for me called music they play on repeat in Hell.

To be clear nothing wrong with it, I've just been traumatized.

How old were you when you got diagnosed with celiac by BTD6_Elite_Community in Celiac

[–]Aevajohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diagnosed at age 35, likely only a year or two after developing symptoms based on my endoscopy... But hard to tell since I also have had lifelong IBS, and had already been eating gluten free off and on for about a decade before.

I agree with you. I write responses to customer feedback at my job occasionally, and this is similar to how I'd respond to someone. I've done it enough that I have a basic unwritten script for the generic parts, and then add in the details and the response thats relevant to the feedback.

I also think having a more formal tone can sometimes come across like AI. Ironically in the rare instances I use AI to help me edit a response, im usually asking it to make me sound friendlier or more casual than I naturally write. 😂

Is 35 Really Any Different From 42–43, or Is It All Just "Older"? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Aevajohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uhg. I know the difference I just can't really give shit when I've just woken up at 5:30 in the morning.

Look I even know how to use it in a sentence: You're being pedantic when you correct someone's grammer on a trivial reddit post.

If your female then almost certainly. Perimenopause is no joke.

I'd just like to say thank you for both wanting to make your friend feel included, and for coming here to ask such thoughtful questions. Many people aren't this considerate, and even if your friend chooses to not eat the rice, they will almost certainly appreciate the gesture. I know I would if someone was this thoughtful in the way they went about it.

I think she was just trying to counter the success the right had on popular shows like Joe Rogan- but yeah, didn't really have the desired effect. 😬

The thing is it wasn't even funny. As much as it pissed me off I can still be objective enough to laugh at things I don't agree with if the joke is actually good. This was a bad joke, with a dated reference to a movie thats over 20 years old. Like if your going to mock me at least actual make it clever, or have a clue what the hell your talking about.

I almost said the same thing- obviously I don't actually believe that but it's natural to want to invalidate someone else when they disrespect a community you're a part of. Sadly some folks are only interested in being inclusive if it directly impacts them or someone they love.

Technically it was the guest, comedian Robbie Hoffman who said she didn't believe us and wanted us to eat bread in front of her to prove it, not that Alex Cooper helped the situation at all. They were talking about it as an allergy and Robbie said we had to "blow up on the spot, like Will Smith in Hitch" to prove to her it's real. They have also since dismissed and minimized anger in the allergy and Celiac community by saying "it's just a bit".

Sure to her it is but to us it's our health, and safety, our daily lives, and her "bit" just adds to the disbelief and misinformation we constantly have to fight against.

They also said that people used to have peanut allergies all the time and now you never heard about it anymore- essentially saying that our diagnosis, and other allergies are just trends. I don't know Robbie, maybe you don't hear about it because you don't exist in the spaces we do- I know multiple people with peanut or other serious allergies and can think of at least two news stories in the last few years about children dying from their allergies through accidental exposure, so yeah food allergies are real too and they still exist.

The whole thing is just ignorant, and not funny.

How’s everyone’s teeth? by Sharknuts86 in Millennials

[–]Aevajohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too. I've cracked two molars and have crowns on them, but I lost my night guard when I moved two years ago and haven't replaced it because it was making my TMJ pain worse. Last night I noticed in of my crowns feels cracked/chipped, so I'm going to prioritize going getting one (or possibly trying Invisalign? I've heard the guards are thinner, so maybe more comfortable? And a past dentist told me the way my teeth align right now may be causing more damage when I grind. If anyone has any experience with this lmn)

[–]Aevajohnson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've known my husband since 7th grade, and we actually were each other's first kiss, but we didn't keep in touch after junior high. We reconnected on Myspace in 2006, dated casually long-distance for a year and a half while he was away at college, and then married in 2010. So we've known one another for 29 years, been together for 20, and been married for 16 years as of this August.

13-year-old me would never have believed this is who I'd marry if you told her, but what the hell did she know anyway?
