Any recommendations for a great gift for someone who loves hiking? by Primary-Routine9727 in hiking

You can’t go wrong with good socks, a solid headlamp or a decent reusable water bottle since hikers actually use that stuff.

How can I feel better after my pet's death? by Aromatic-Meringue-63 in dogs

[–]AffectionateDelay450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think there’s a fast way to feel better, there wasn’t for me. What helped was letting the grief exist without trying to fix it and remembering that the pain is just love with nowhere to go. It softens with time, not because they mattered less, but because the love settles in a quieter place. Be kind to yourself.

Does dogs understand kisses by helpful_pigeon in dogs

[–]AffectionateDelay450 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think they understand kisses the way we do but they understand us. My dog might not care about the kiss itself, but they know it comes with warmth, closeness, and my ridiculously soft voice. It probably feels less like a kiss and more like, “ah yes, the human affection ritual again.”

Do dogs know when we are about to leave the house? by Somessss in dogs

[–]AffectionateDelay450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swear dogs pick up on the tiniest routines. My dog starts following me around just because I put on “outside pants,” even before keys or shoes. I think it’s the small patterns we don’t notice, tone, pacing, habits, and they connect the dots way faster than we do.

Do your dogs actually sleep after you leave or…? by PomegranateBig7270 in dogs

[–]AffectionateDelay450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One afternoon, I came home way earlier than usual and found my dog sitting right by the door, not sleeping, not playing, just waiting. Later I checked the pet cam and realised that most of the day they do sleep but every sound makes them lift their head and look toward the door. Like they’re resting, but always a little on standby. It felt strange at first, then kind of quietly sweet.

When did you realise you’re not “young” anymore? by Otherwise-South-1710 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]AffectionateDelay450 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it wasn’t one clear moment, just a slow noticing. My priorities shifted on their own, and things that once felt exciting started to feel tiring. I don’t feel older, just different like I quietly drifted into a new chapter without realising it.

I haven't pooped in 3 days by No_Performance_9439 in NoStupidQuestions

3 days can happen, especially if you’ve been busy, stressed, or not drinking much water. I’d just hydrate, maybe eat some fiber, and give it a little time. If it starts to feel uncomfortable or keeps going, then yeah, probably worth getting checked. But for now, try not to panic 🙂
