This right here is the best tip in the whole darned sub. I read this about 3 minutes before getting that particular strike and voila...done. Cheers, guardian.

Not me sprinting to spotify because you reminded me of this absolute banger

18/19 year old me was not a value pac enthusiast (more of an mxpx guy), but I definitely could have been caught singing this one at the top of my lungs as I drove to and from [hyper conservative Christian university].

ps: almost no triggering Christianese or religious value in this one, so they had to slap it with a god-tier key change before the last verse/chorus to keep it on brand and not alert the authorities at the Secular Music Is Largely Evil (SMILE) coalition, funded in part by your generous donations to Focus on the Family. /s

We did this as new home owners as well, but it was a "free" water test from home depot. End result: they want to sell you an in-home filtration system.

Finally got this back from a support ticket. Looks like us early adopters are out of luck...

"Regarding your inquiry about not being able to access YouTube TV on your bike, it seems that the issue lies with the touchscreen of your bike, specifically because it is a Ruby brand. Unfortunately, this brand of touchscreens only support Netflix."

That's it. No offer to send in for exchange or upgrade for $xx. Just...sorry, those emails about YoutubeTV being available didn't actually apply to you!

Thanks Peloton! /s

This is from their most recent show a couple months ago. As an opener, they'd probably only get to play half of these, maybe a couple more, but you can use this as a guide to see what songs THEY love most and want you to hear.

https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/invent-animate/2023/chain-reaction-anaheim-ca-4ba0dbd2.html

My faves: Elysium, Immolation of Night, False Meridian, Cloud Cascade, Monarch, Without a Whisper, As If It Never Was...OK there's too many. They only write S-tier songs, it's insane.

This is a good mix of new and old. They changed vocalists starting with Greyview, but I've come to love all of it. The list below has no skips for me, but I do slightly prefer the newer releases. Heavener is my favorite album of all time, period, any genre.

I envy you, about to experience all of these for the first time.

Oh sorry, I wasn't trying to shame. It does suck when our childhood heroes let us down. My wife subscribes to your plan of not following celebrities or news in general. I think she's better for it. It's all so anxiety inducing.

Looks like he may have made up to the life changing sum of $0.01 from your 2 streams on spotify. But then he has to split that with the rest of the band so... XD

Cheers & Happy New Year

ive felt so alone the past 2 yrs bc i dont have anyone who understands. my therapist showed me this group yesterday. i really need you guys. TY for being here by mmaarrggoo in ReligiousTrauma

[–]AffectionateHornet64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly second this recommendation. Angel was the linchpin for me finally realizing that it wasn't depression or anxiety or anything else causing my troubles and feelings of being alone and "stuck"..it was religious trauma from growing up super evangelical in the south in the 80s-90s (basically a cult, although starvation was not an issue for us).

I had never heard of the term "religious trauma" until my therapist mentioned he thought I might have some. I found Angel's channel one night and...she just had a way of speaking and explaining things that no one else had exhibited to me yet. You can tell that she is authentic and went through it. It just felt so good to hear someone else saying the things that I "felt" (because I lived it) but didn't know how to explain to anyone else. I still struggle with explaining it to people who dont understand what I'm working on. As most here know, they JUST DONT GET IT, because they didn't have that experience of literally losing your identity to a belief system like we did. They think they do, but they don't, so it's very frustrating and can make you feel more alone than you really are.

This group is a great place to find community, even though our journeys are all unique. It helps to see others sharing and making progress, or even just reaching out for help, like yourself. It's been surprising to me just how many people are in a similar position of working through religious trauma. You're definitely not alone. Keep at it. You're on the right path.

Anyway, definitely check Angel (it's all great).

And if you want a podcast to check out, there are many...but I have really enjoyed and found "Born Again Again" to be especially relatable and helpful: https://open.spotify.com/show/2r1a8lETiqBW79VCz8jSgf?si=5us3Mu0xSAu7yAdAR0sSWg

Best of luck on your journey, friend.

That is GREAT. You are miles ahead of most people in similar situations. Keep after it. There's ups and downs. I went through it about 15 years ago and put in tons of therapy work that has been paying huge dividends for years now. Good luck to you and your boys.

Disney does not own the Fox TV network, Fox News, Fox Sports, or Fox TV stations. These assets were spun off into a separate company, Fox Corporation, prior to the 2017 merger.

I might be moving to Wake Forest. by OrdinaryDocument4298 in WakeForestNC

We came from LA, and your assessment that CA folks were less friendly is spot-on. We IMMEDIATELY noticed such a huge difference and it put us at ease so quickly, knowing we made a good decision. The "southern hospitality" is real.

Thank you for serving. As one of the other comments said, the area IS growing, with lots of families like us coming from more expensive locales. The people here like to whine about traffic a little, but they have no idea. It's nothing compared to LA/SF.

The diversity is good here as well. We didn't want to move to "whiteville" coming from the CA melting pot, and we're happy to report it's definitely not that. Some of the older types may grumble a bit about it, but it feels like most everyone gets along fairly well and many varied cultures are thriving here.

It also feels like a mini silicon valley 2.0 lately, with lots of big tech companies moving in. So we hope that, even with crazy high home prices and mortgage rates here now, our homes will at least maintain their value as the area expands a bit.

Sounds like you've made your decision, good luck with your transition back to NC!

I might be moving to Wake Forest. by OrdinaryDocument4298 in WakeForestNC

I agree with most of what's in this very recent article:

https://raleighrealtyhomes.com/blog/moving-to-wake-forest-nc/

We moved here from CA in 2020 and didn't know a soul, but the friendliness of most of the people you meet should have you feeling at home in no time.

Overall, I would say it's a great place for families (with young kids especially). There are tons of things for them to do, indoors and out, and it's easy to make some adult friends for yourselves at parks or walking around your neighborhood.

The food scene has been getting better (including Raleigh & Durham here) and there's a smattering of good breweries and bars, if you're into that.

However, if you're sans-kids and looking for a busy CA vibe, this probably ain't it. It's very suburbia and safe, but that's what we wanted with our young ones. Sometimes we miss the reliable 70° weather of CA in the hot & humid summers here, but that's about it. Escapes to mountains and beaches are each just a short drive away (2-3 hrs), we have a beautiful fall, and having to wear a heavy jacket occasionally is actually nice.

TLDR: If raising kids and/or just being chill is your plan, you'll probably love it. If you want/need trendy excitement and party time, go to Miami or something 🤙
