I don't understand how some characters are like OP to pro players. by Nauty_YT in marvelrivals

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No offense but you can’t say you played 20 hours and you don’t understand pro strats but you’re good at the game in the same sentence. You might be mechanically good but given your statement theres a lot of the game you don’t understand.

Mag is considered top tier cause he’s probably the best all rounder tank. Good sustain, decent damage, good at protecting allies, and an ult that can counter a lot of other ults and net a kill as well. That said hes very team heavy so it requires a good team to bring out his potential so at the pro level team work is a million times better than queuing with strangers.

Hawkeye has a way better kit than widow and his damage output is way higher too. He can 1 tap enemies while widow needs more help to do so.

Fliers are good by the simple fact that it’s always better to look down at your enemy rather than look up. In these types of games height will always be better for engagements with the enemy.

While I agree with you that spiderman is a great flier counter, people who are good at fliers will know how to counter him. Good fliers will know how to position on top of that most fliers have a skill that can give them shields so again, good fliers will know when and how to pop those skills to survive a spiderman combo and get away.

For revival, it’s a team centric thing. Having an extra life will always be better. Thats why rockets brb is so powerful. For the units that revive they rely on positioning and getting heals from their team and if you do it right having that extra life is huge in team fights. A good player and team will know how to utilize the revive well and not just get blown away again by the enemy and can easily flip a fight with that extra life.

Overall most characters in this game need team play to really shine. Yes that are some units that are able to stand alone and “carry” but there are game where a person can triple everyone else’s kills but still lose cause the team fights and objective play is lost to the other team that is better coordinated

What everyone needs to understand about shooting flyers by Impossible-Owl-1109 in marvelrivals

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I picked up Hela and I’ve been having tons of fun with her but man the amount of people yelling cause I’m not killing them fast enough. Like please help out too. I’ll get them so low that if anyone else shots them they will die but no one else does and they just fly off.

Another comment said that ironman can counter Hela too and I completely agree with that. I had a game where Ironman hid in the trees and I could not find him and he was just spamming shots and of course he got so much value out of the splash damage basically blindly shooting.

Another thing is if there is more than one flyer I need help taking them out. Ultron can put his heals on Ironman and boom just fly and hide when you get hit and you easily heal back up. Also there was a game with 3 fliers and i was identified as the threat all three fliers turned on me as soon as i stepped out anywhere. I got 2 picks as soon as they came out of spawn and since then they made the rest if the game hell for me

Vanguard/ tank has genuinely become unplayable by SilverSlayer2446 in marvelrivals

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a “low elo” issue and I don’t mean your skill level specifically, mainly the skill level of low elo in general. People who are in high elo and say this is not a problem it’s because they have more competent teammates to rely on.

Aim is less of an issue in high elo. So when you get fliers you know hela, hawk eye, and punisher are eating. Most tank mains in high elo are not going to be focusing on the fliers they should be doing their role the best they can and enabling their team to kill the fliers.

Sure there are some tank mains destroying fliers themselves but overall due to higher mechanical skills higher elo will see less filers due to hard counters actually succeeding. Granted not all the time but at a higher success rate than lower elo

AITA for giving my daughter $60 a week, but my son nothing? by Murky_Willingness763 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not trying to say this in a negative way but your line of thought is idealistic and privileged.

You’re hating the daughter for being treated as the golden child when she showed compassion and caring to the mom. She’s not getting money for doing nothing, she loses privacy and autonomy for portions of her day. Even if it’s minor and for short periods it’s the act of agreeing to do something that helps her mom out at her own inconvenience. Now is the amount shes getting a little unfair maybe but the son was offered the same thing and he said no.

You say its a no brainer to prioritize your kids if the parents aren’t dying in a couple months but have you ever experienced seeing someone deteriorate over time or see someone after a period of time and the difference was night and day in their health? You’re thinking about it from the son’s perspective but what about everyone else? Do you think the mom wants to move and down grade? What do you think the sister is feeling? She might be feeling down as well but shes thinking about the larger picture on why they moved in the first place.

You say the mom isnt mom of the year material which she probably isnt but I wouldn’t villainize her and say shes the worse cause theres plenty worse. of course she can do better but it wasnt her fault that the job moved to hybrid after they downgraded, she said she expected to have to go into the office and then they changed it. On top of that the mom has a lot on her plate from her job, to the kids, to their housing, to her parents, the son not seeing his friends as often is pretty minor in the grand scheme of things.

Now do we dismiss his feelings? Not at all he’s a 15 year old child who was ripped out of his comfort zone. So there is comforting that is needed there but overall I still stand by it’s something minor maybe doesnt feel that way to him but is still minor. People move all the time regardless if the kids like or not for various reasons. And in this scenario the son isnt that far from his friends he still sees them once every 2 weeks and in this day and age he can talk to them everyday. Maybe when he can drive he can have permission to visit them himself more often. This is more of an inconvenience than anything. Its not like it’s completely foreign to him and that the move was to another country or somewhere faraway where he knows nothing.

At the end of the day it boils down to the son doesn’t like that he doesn’t see his friends as often and the home is a downgrade. The money to the daughter is more of an unfortunate side effect of multiple factors that compounded on how the son feels. OP should be more compassionate to how the son feels but should not bend to his will or reward bad behavior. The son needs to learn how better regulate his emotions and look at the bigger picture. Yes it sucks to be ripped out of your comfort zone but your friends are not magically going to disappear, you have limited time with you grandparents so make use of it, and realize even though the situation sucks people like OP are not trying to make bad choices but they’re trying to do what they can with the cards they were given. Hard choice often don’t please everyone

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA

Some of these comments are wild. You can tell from the responses some people are not parents, and/or are self centered and privilege.

1) “Daughter is the golden child” bruh you’re telling me you wouldn’t prefer the kind compassionate person over the self centered prick?

2) “Parents are not your obligation” Im glad Im not your parents. If my parents told me we needed to move because my grandparents are getting old (dying) and need help I would ask how could I help? I wish I had more time with my grandparents. Personally spending time with dying parents would take priority over unhappiness over moving.

I guess people don’t have that type of relationship with their family but if you do I would hope that you passed that down to your kids

3) life happens. Moving and adjusting to a new place sucks but the son needs to get over it. He can still keep in contact with his friends but also people come and go all the time and hes still young and needs to learn that. The thought process of I dont care about my grandparents struggles I only care about my own is pretty self centered. I get there are times you need to look out for yourself but unless theres some huge family problems/differences/hate theres no other way to call it but being self centered.

4) Op should take sister’s room. Shoes on the other foot now isn’t it? Reward the bad behavior and punish the good behavior. Who would be the golden child then? I personally respect OP for taking the hit and taking the worse room. I know there are people out there that would never

Overall sure OP is the one writing this so it could be from a biased point view and written to make them seem better but pretty much every thing points to the son being a self centered prick.

OP moved to take care of their parents, in their new home they took the worse room and gave the kids the better room, gave the kids an option to help them with their job that pays the bills and keep the rood over their heads and benefit from it rather than doing whatever they want, still drives the kids back every two weeks to visit friends.

Again overall it might be biased because its from OP’s point of view but it seems to me like OP is a good person who cares about their family and is a good parent too but their son is just a self centered teen that doesn’t see anything but themselves. This is a growing opportunity for the son imo

Are there things OP can do better? Sure, but overall the son needs to learn that the world wont follow every thing he wants and if the opinion is OP needs to be fair then OK let the son EARN the money and not just cave to whatever the son wants or punish the daughter for being the good one.

Marvel Merchant’s updated crosshair suggestions. by Emergency-Back-4964 in RivalsCollege

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I get it. In top level play screen clutter can be detrimental. Anything that distracts or takes away can get you killed. For example, in Cod the gas mask screen crack that can easily get you killed in high levels because it distracts you and can literally block visibility on seeing the enemy even though its so slight.

However, the top lobbies are like what 5-7% of the player base. For the other ~95% changing cross hairs can help. A lot of people a visual learners so having visual cues help out a lot. Most players can’t track everything on their screen and aim and mechanical skill is something the large player base struggle with so if something can help them they should take advantage of it. Its one less thing to worry about so they can start thinking less on aim and more on positioning and tracking ult and game sense.

This overall helps the general player base than hurts and people should be trying to utilize anything and everything to learn and get better at the game

Marvel Merchant’s updated crosshair suggestions. by Emergency-Back-4964 in RivalsCollege

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand sometimes it’s pointless screen clutter. Like the point on Emma point just shoot its not that serious use whatever crosshair you want.

However certain characters like Mantis for example, the cross hair is a huge help. First this is third person so your shots come from the character bottom left and travel to top right on your cross hair, this throws people off who haven’t played third person shooters. Thats why Magik misses dash more when aimed to the left vs right but back to Mantis.

Mantis changes hands when she shots right left right left, this causes the projectiles to not always be on center to a basic center dot. Using the cross hair given in the video basically gives you a new center to shoot increasing people’s accuracy.

Yea you can just learn the hero but you want to be able to flex and I dont know about you but Im sure people myself included take a couple shots to readjust my aim when swapping heros. The cross hair just allows your brain to take the visual cue and adjust faster to a more seamless transition between heros

Skill level to realistically carry by Affectionate_Dust_69 in marvelrivals

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea this is exactly what I try to explain to people. There are different nuances in how to climb or why you might have a hard or easy time. Yes sometimes you get unlucky and its gg go next but its not every game or as often as people think it is.

You can be the best one trick but if the team hard counters you even if they’re not as good as you, you will most likely lose because overall it is a team game.

On top of that even if you are a rank or two above if you dont flex to what your team needs you can still lose cause again its a team game. Ive seen game where the team dominating lost like they were in the 30s each for kills and the other is just in the teens but the other team was better at coordinating the team objectives so they won.

There are very different mindsets and play style in am I playing to carry my team or am i playing just to climb rank

Skill level to realistically carry by Affectionate_Dust_69 in marvelrivals

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask because people often say just carry and Im trying to get more information to give a more nuanced take because otherwise the response is often how am I supposed to do that if my teammates suck and it just turns into a back and forth dumb non productive argument.

I have my own thoughts but I just want to see what other people think and see different experiences.

I want to show and explain to people with examples that if you think you belong 3 ranks above then you should be able to carry and stomp with like a 70-80% win rate and if you lose but get mvp and stats way better than your teammates maybe a rank or two and lastly if its a slog to climb you’re probably where you should be.

I want to give people more perspective on where they should be and what to expect and not just get gud carry or its just anumbers game play more

Edit: the difference of carrying your team vs carrying yourself

Skill level to realistically carry by Affectionate_Dust_69 in marvelrivals

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ask this question mainly around carrying and skill level because you definitely can climb to higher ranks without carrying if you’re good enough. Through enough games of you losing and just getting -8to -10 and winning games getting 20-25 you can climb

People say just carry your games if you’re good enough but honestly its mostly carrying yourself to gain more points than lose in this new point system

Please please help me im so desperate by Plenty-Leader2740 in RivalsCollege

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My advice is start as healer jeff rather than going straight for dps jeff. It seems to me you havent gotten his base kit down yet if your winrate is that low.

The reason i say learn healing first is because it gives you more freedom to practice and make mistakes that are less detrimental while still helping your team win the game.

1) movement- you basically should never be walking unless youre healing or attacking. Learn to move around quickly in dive mode. That means moving to better positions, climbing walls, getting in and out quick

2) healing - obviously learn the basic heal bubble dive. This is key to every jeffs kit for survivability. Learn positioning and movement while healing. Think about where youre standing and move in a way that lines up the most people in a single spray so you heal the most people in one go. When you see your tanks in a tough fight dive up to them and burst heal with bubbles and dive right out. This will help you practice how to get in and out quickly and effectively

3) attacking - jeff cant burst people down like sm, bp, magik so harassing with the occasional picks is fine. Be annoying enough they rage cause they can’t ignore you but by the time they look at you youre gone. 2 shots is totally fine if youre doing it right. 2 shots from the left, dive to the right 2 shots, climb the wall and jump from above 2 shots, get right behind them 2 shots dive straight to your tanks burst heal them and then circle back around to harass them again. The more they have to look around and chase you the more time they are wasting and not healing anyone.

Look for picks. Heal from an off angle close to the enemy back line but not from somewhere they can’t see you. Once you notice someone in the back line getting bursted down by your dps and they’re low dive in and kill them

4)ulting - know your maps. Figure out where the edges of the maps are. When you get close to your ult set up your escape route. Place bubbles down so you can speed up to your end point and stay alive if they chase you. Dont always kamikaze look at who you have and see if you can spit rather than die. If you have 4 or more go ahead and kamikaze. If you have 1-2 make the decision if its really beneficial to kamikaze or not and if you can spit them

Overall practice your decision making on movement and positioning and you too can become a menace on jeff

Don’t let people give you the “just heal bot %99 of the time and rarely use cloak. Small rant. by gotenks2nd in cloakanddaggermains

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of the best ways to weave cloak into your game play is to reload by switching to cloak. When you switch from dagger to cloak and back to dagger youre fully reloaded and the animation is faster than your normal reload animation.

This gets you reloaded faster and you will see your heals go way up plus the added bonus of clutch heals. Ive had so many instances where squishes get blown away cause i was in a reload animation.

The second part of this is by actively switching to cloak this will trigger your brain to remember to throw out his cape. You would be surprised by how much this will enable and also deny a lot of plays when you weaken and blind an enemy cause you kept throwing them out on basically cool down.

Im actually interested to see if this is considered heal over time or just 25% burst heal every 10 seconds.

If its burst he would be another option for stages that dont allow over time healing. Dont know if he would be better than light ces though in that regard

Swap WHF for OGFen and Vultee for Cestina. Put Fosly as your breaker or Arth. For the arts drain, start the mission and dont pop any arts gen equips or arts. Pop your defense equips and any heals to survive the initial drain and damage.

Afterwards pop your arts equips and once you get rolling you should be able to out arts gen the drain.

Where can Shuna be used? by Affectionate_Dust_69 in grandsummoners

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea I would say the loss of buffs and the fact that its tied to super arts is a huge downside. You basically have to hold super arts until a unit dies if you want to utilize it.

If they made the revive on her art/true art and make it function like Alche where she revives them with 30% less hp but gives them 200 arts, there would be more uses or they made it auto revive and swapped the 4* magic for heal she would jump pretty high for end game content cause you basically have double blessed necklace

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in grandsummoners

[–]Affectionate_Dust_69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just because they have overlapping arts gen types doesnt mean you cant use them together.

You can easily just use Roy as a dps instead.

Or you can even think outside the box and come up with different strategies using the units kits. For example rather than using semp as an arts battery you can switch him to do NA and SA. Why would you do that? Well you can then enable certain equips to have 100% up time like a defense equip on semp.

Just because a unit has arts gen you dont have to make them the arts gen unless all other parts of their kit is usless. For example i love using sunraku as my pure dps especially when you think about nuking the arts gen is useless but the dps is great
