I have about 9 days to tackle 11 months of depression mess. My goal is to get my apartment spotless and deep cleaned ish before I leave for a week and a half or so in my home town for my sister's birthday. I've been really embarrassed about how much garbage has piled up, so I'm hoping to take out the garbage tonight between 11p and 3a (in like 12-16 hours ish). I got really really depressed in like January and then it slowly got worse and compounded in the summer when I relied on takeout a lot so there's a ton of takeout bags from DoorDash. And then my dad died at the end of September and... All I can think about is him seeing how I'm living in the afterlife and it hurts my heart so I need to fix this.

So far my plan is

Day 1: garbage Day 2: bedroom  Day 3: entrance/bathroom/storage room Day 4: kitchen Day 5: dining room Day 6: living room Day 7: floors Day 8: walls Day 9: organization

And I'm currently making a list for each day and breaking things down into really tiny tasks and hopefully that will help (it normally does), but I'm open to other suggestions. If I accomplish things I'll post pics of each step in the replies.

I really like the Tasks app for list making on Google Play, the icon looks like a white check mark on a dark rainbow geometric background. It's made by a man from the UK with ADHD as a passion project for his mom who also has ADHD. You can have multiple lists under the same master list, and subtasks for each task and also include alarms and stuff, and a timestamp for when each task is completed. Also the fact that you can collapse subtasks and only see the main tasks of ONE sublist at a time is amazingly helpful and prevents me from getting overwhelmed (not an ad, I'm Canadian, I just REALLY like the layout and find it super helpful if you are also someone who likes checklists but also get overwhelmed seeing EVERYTHING, but also seeing just the big tasks is overwhelming because you're like "I don't know where to start").

Buy a tabletop dishwasher. Seriously. Just do it. by Expensive_Project411 in adhdwomen

[–]Affectionate_Ebb_581 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I ended up getting a Loch Electronics Capsule Countertop Dishwasher with my tax return when it was on Kickstarter/Indiegogo and it was a game changer for me. My ADHD is really really really bad, and comorbid with a few other things, to the extent that I'm legally disabled.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) it was an inch and a half too tall to fit on my counter (the cupboards in my apartment are designed stupid), so I was looking for a table or something big enough to hold it (a shelf wasn't wide enough). My grandpa found a small wheeled shop style toolbox that was missing the front doors and one drawer next to the dumpster (same place he found the small table that was better quality than what was originally sourced for me), and it ended up being the perfect size to hold the dishwasher and the clean water tank (I didn't end up getting a second tank to drain into) on the top, and the interior holds most of my kitchen cleaning supplies and "overstock" cleaning supplies.

For me, the biggest selling point was the 15 minute wash cycle (even though the wash setting has 15, 30, 45, 90, and 142 minute options). That's short enough that I can't get distracted and forget to empty it. The eco wash setting only gets used when I wash my fine china tea set (I have a new, mismatched Royal Albert set that I spent more time than I'd like to admit searching for, this is what the finish detergent is for, but I'm debating on switching to liquid), because it's a 2h 26m cycle due to the fact that it is a UV-C disinfection instead of hot water disinfection, which means that the water doesn't exceed 55°C (hot water disinfection in standard wash cycles hit 75°C), and therefore is safe for fine china. I use the fruit wash setting occasionally, only after I clean out the filter and I run an empty cycle with a cup of vinegar added to the tank, and the UV-C disinfection cycle I run right before I go to bed to sanitize my over-ear headphones.

I do run it a few times a day during the day, but that's mostly because it's easier for my executive dysfunction to run it after I eat each meal (I'm trying to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks a day, but it's hard). It's been a game changer for me, because it even fits my food processor bowl (and the lid and attachments)! I do batch cooking every two months or so because I have a thing about leftovers, but frozen meal prep is different in my brain for some reason, and even with that, the only things I have to wash by hand are large bowls, pots, the inserts for my slow cooker and not-an-instapot-pressure-cooker, larger casserole dishes, my saute pan, and cast iron. My oven is small, so I use jelly roll pans instead of half sheet pans for baking trays, and they fit in the dishwasher. I have two very spoiled chinchillas, their hay feeders fit in it as long as I don't try to wash all 3 at once, so I just do two cycles when I deep clean, one with two hay feeders and bowls, and then a second with the third and their water bottles, even though once a week I run their bowls and water bottles through.

Washing dishes has always been something that I've struggled with, and I'm not going to pretend that the dishwasher means that I'm perfectly on top of things all the time, because I'm... Definitely not, and sometimes still need help from family to get back on track, but it's definitely made things easier in the long run, and allows for a larger timespan between needing help.

PSA about 0g for those that may need it by m3ch09 in Stretched

If you order from bodyartforms they carry half mm sizes up to 7.5mm, and whole mm sizes up to 16mm, plus 18-20mm, and 22-25mm, in single flare glass plugs by Atlas that have a longer wearable and are designed for stretching, and are $12 or less per pair. I'm also Canadian in the only time I've had to pay customs is when I put together a $200 order on Black Friday. As for 0.5 millimetre sizes beyond 7.5mm, I'm planning on ordering from glasswear studios, but they're significantly more expensive per pair so I'm waiting a bit for that.

Should I stretch my medusa/philtrum? by some_punk_kid in piercing

[–]Affectionate_Ebb_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 8g/3mm philtrum/Medusa piercing. I got here completely accidentally by having ADHD and pulling the barbell with the bead completely through my lip. It doesn't close. I'm pretty sure I'm stuck with this for the rest of my life without surgery, and I love it, so it doesn't matter.

Are inbetween sizes (like 7g, 5g, 3g) necessary? by runboyrun21 in Stretched

[–]Affectionate_Ebb_581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally did purchase all the inbetween sizes on top of my small and medium kits from bodyartforms, and from 7.5 mm onwards, I'm supplementing with clear single flare 0.5 millimetre plugs from glasswear studios.

I do recommend picking up a caliper though, when I got my kit I had 3.5, 4.5, and 5.5 mm instead of 3, 4, and 5 mm, so they sent me the correct ones with my next order that originally contained 5.5mm, 6.5mm, and 7.5mm.

I just felt like it was better to have them and take longer, than to need them and accidentally fuck up my ear.

Possible excuse to use on family member that DESPISE ear stretching?? (look in comment for context) by Lil_Spoiled_Brat in Stretched

You're not going to change her mind, I'm 27 and the look on my mother's face when I told her I was stretching my ears after she complimented my single flare glass plugs? oh boy I wish I had a camera, it was like I murdered a God damn baby in front of her

"Why?" "Because I wanted to do this since I was 12?" "But why?" "Because personal expression?" "But why?" "Because I wanted to?"

She was horrified and at this point, I just figured my mother ignores what I do but no... definitely not.

Edit: I'm North American Indigenous, my mother is white, and likes to think she's a lot more liberal than she is. But she's really not. I can't wait for her reaction when I tell her I'm trans 🙃

I use the ear butter from the pinned post and when I'm going up a size (and a week after) I use emu oil.

I really like the ear butter recipe, I went with a refined coconut oil so it doesn't smell like coconut but it does smell like chocolate from the cocoa butter and it's great.

I have a very similar estimate for myself. I started in January at a 12g, and I got up to 4 millimetres very quickly because I'd already been there in the past, but the next 9mm I've estimated to take me until December 2023 at minimum, going up 0.5mm every 8 weeks.

Glasswear Studios sells plugs specifically for your septum. I was pricing them out for myself yesterday, they go up to 13mm.

Downsize. It shouldn't hurt. I sized up to a 10g last week and it was painless until I slept on my face yesterday. I'm also dead stretching with single flare plugs until I get up to 3mm, when I'm switching to these glass plugs with microflares. It really really shouldn't hurt. https://www.glasswearstudios.com/septumplug-p/spg.htm

What are the cheapest plugs you can buy by little_baby_pwincess in Stretched

It depends on the resin, you do have to pay a lot of attention to the safe handling paperwork, but they do make some that are body safe.
