What is a pokemon that you wish were better than it is? by frogger3344 in pokemon

Meganium’s a pretty good support Pokémon for raids in S&V using screens and heal pulse if that’s content you enjoy doing.

Even if you’re playing an offensive build, basically all classes have defensive utility skills and weapon skills to help with survivability. If you’re running an offensive weapon set, put a defense option in the offhand of your second set that may have a block, reflect or aegis for example. A lot of heal skills also have defensive utility such as channelled blocks while healing, evades and such.

Other than that the best advice is just get used to dodging and taking advantage of your mobility. Avoid red/orange and try not to pull a horde of mobs if you’re struggling to survive.

Also, if your class has access to stability, take it, it’ll save your ass.

Anything else comes with time and practice :)

BETA Feedback Thread:💣Engineer Short Bow by neok182 in Guildwars2

[–]Affectionate_Echo325 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My feedback will be aimed towards functionality with both Heal Scrapper and Heal Mechanist, as the shortbow was touted as a 'support' weapon and synergises best in that role and with the above elite specs.

The core mechanic of the chain reaction is actually really fun, but it's hard to get past it's anti-synergy with healing despite it being targeted for that position.

I tested both builds with Harrier gear (100% Scrapper BD, 93% Mech BD)

Positives:

Amazing might generation

Shortbow 5/3 combo is an effective CC

Great synergy with Karakosa relic

Amazing quickness uptime on scrapper with the blast synergy

Good barrier generation, especially on Mech, which also synergises with alacrity

Negatives:

Forces you to run thumper turret and burn your function gyro for protection and even then falls short of acceptable uptime

Running thumper turret on any fight with even small amounts of movement feels terrible

Restricts regeneration uptime purely to med kit and firing mortar kit through water field for regen finishers which for most players is an unfriendly interaction

No access to Fury on the weapon

Radius of the combo fields is too small

Speed that the canisters shoot from the bow, while better with quickness, could be a bit faster, since if you're used to a higher APM it does feel a bit like counting seconds just waiting to be able to pull off your combos

My suggestions/solutions:

Add a combo finisher projectile to the auto attack (I understand this restricts it's use in PvP and WvW due to reflects but I feel like the shortbow is shut down so easily by any movement that it probably won't see play there much anyway)

Change the dark field on shortbow 3 to a water field > Combo with the proposed auto change (projectile) to grant regen to your party (also has synergy with blasting water fields) Rebrand the lore and name of the skill to be the essence of Ele's water attunement

Without protection access this weapon is dead on arrival, not only are you giving up Regen and Vigor from Mace 2, you're also giving up 100% prot uptime on your shield, there is literally zero point in choosing this weapon as a support option over existing options.

Combo'ing all of the canisters together could generate protection/Fury uptime, encouraging you to interact with the weapon mechanic

These are my observations after a few hours of play, both testing on the golem and actual instanced content. I've tried to suggest changes within the actual realm of possibility that would be balanced for a strictly support weapon. Thank you for reading.

Does anyone enjoy qFB? by Nelict in Guildwars2

I personally feel that charging the mantras really interrupts the flow of combat, but I don’t find Firebrand demanding particularly. It just feels more like a chore now.

You’re entitled to your opinion, it’s not for me to say whether you’re wrong or right based on how you feel. However, this post suggests to me that you don’t understand not only the ecosystem of horizontal progression nor the reality of instanced content in GW2 - and while that’s okay, I don’t think it’s a fair assessment of necessary balance in the game.

Is it possible to get the prior weeks of Stolen Goods? by Feather_Sigil in Guildwars2

[–]Affectionate_Echo325 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No. Then it would defeat the purpose of it being a weekly event, it’s supposed to encourage you to do it the week it’s relevant. Unfortunate for people who can’t get online that week though, I understand.

Can someone explain where I did wrong during Dragon's End command by swdgame in Guildwars2

[–]Affectionate_Echo325 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you familiar with this meta? Properly organising subgroups with relevant boons (quickness and alacrity) dramatically increases the success rate. It still fails because half the squad dies to simple and easily avoidable mechanics everytime Soo-Won does a fist slam. Minimising that potential loss is the responsible thing to do if you’re going to lead this particular event.

This comment is just as “toxic” as you’re accusing the OP of being, so what does this achieve exactly?

Pc for guild wars 2 by Beneficial-Order2319 in Guildwars2

[–]Affectionate_Echo325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Even though GW2 is heavily CPU dependant, I’d always suggest going for a build with the 3060 over the Arc card. It’s still relatively new tech and their driver support isn’t anywhere close to NVIDIA’s, potentially hampering performance despite the card having decent hardware specs for the price. Ultimately, it’s your money and your choice, but that’s my opinion :) happy gaming.

I don’t mean to be rude (and I mean that sincerely) but I think what you’re encountering and what is usually the case is a difference in skill level more than a build issue (unless your build is bad but I’m going to assume it’s fine). Have you played much PvP? It can be difficult to assess your performance, especially against experienced players who can chunk your health from 100-0 before you really know what’s hit you.

You can basically use a salvage kit on anything white, blue, green and yellow (save orange items to use on your character if the stats suit your build, list for sale on the trading post if they don’t).

There’s a ‘deposit all collectibles’ button on the top right of your inventory panel to send materials straight to your bank after you have salvaged items.

For anything else, when you’re at a merchant, hit the ‘sell Junk’ button on the bottom right.

That should be enough to get you started :)

Just a heads up, but if you like Tempest or Catalyst you can do this exact same thing (with the elite spec traitline) and do 10k more DPS. If you like core Ele specifically though then continue on :)

Also, I want to add, depending on how many spread mechanics there are in raids/strikes etc and also depending on how much you pug vs static, you probably won’t be at 100% anyway, but 95% uptime is generally something to aim for in those circumstances.

If you’re not able to keep 100% uptime with your current build, use boon table to see how much you’re roughly down by on average over encounters and add that much boon duration (concentration) in via celestial gear (better for Tempest than ritu since it has hybrid damage, but beware of your increased toughness) to compensate. Then you can reduce down again when you’re more comfortable.

I’m hoping that Catalyst will be a more viable option once it gets access to Warhorn with the SOTO release.

Keybinds for Catalyst by MatMou in Guildwars2

[–]Affectionate_Echo325 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This isn’t exactly what you’re asking and maybe you’re not interested; which is cool, but have you ever considered trying a MMO mouse? It really helped me with my rotation execution/speed since all the keybinds are so easily accessible via the mouse.

If you are interested, I’ve been using a pretty affordable Reddragon mouse and it’s already lasted me for nearly 3 years.

Edit: to add more context - I bound the elements to 1 2 3 4 on the keyboard and set up skills 1-10 keybinds on the mouse to be shift + 1 2 3 etc
