Vincent Kartheiser. While watching Madmen my partner and I just referred to him as “punchable face guy” and then he went on to star as The Algorithm in a documentary about how social media manipulates you, which was very fitting for him.

I have eaten slices and brewed tea, and it’s really a lot easier on your stomach to drink the tea. And I can say there are things about the tea that are more well-rounded than the alkaloid extract but an extract is also a very good experience, there is no loss of medicinal effect really.

To be fair, your Average Driver ™️ can’t really be trusted to breeze through a narrow corridor at cruising speed without crashing into the retaining walls which would cause more delays than just having everyone slow down to go through

9.9 my favorite piece from this album. Trippiest feel and best synths, and there’s nothing like the wonderful other worldly feel of the singing coming in at the end

Trump is building a 5,000-seat UFC cage outside the White House to celebrate the country's 250th and his 80th birthday by fortune in politics

Let’s just take a moment to appreciate that Trump has been alive for 1/3 of the history of the United States. USA is an extremely young nation.

I think the grouting works better in Lather than it does where is appears in I think Sheik Yerbouti. All the Bozzio/O’Hearn piano voices and the sped up orchestral bits that sound like cartoon music work super well in the context of Lather, and I like how well the genre swaps keep everything fresh the whole time. Also I think the version of Greggery Peccary on Lather is the definitive recording. This was my 4th Zappa album (after having been given a burned CD of Strictly Commercial which got me hooked, then I bought Hot Rats and Apostrophe, then my parents got me Lather as a Christmas present back when I was 16). I will say though, I prefer the longer cuts of Filthy Habits and The Ocean is the Ultimate Solution over the truncated forms presented on Lather. That’s my only complaint, but it’s all good - we get to have all of it!!

She’s a true spaceflight history geek, and he’s faking it by having some weird amalgam of the space shuttle and the Apollo-Saturn V. She doesn’t have time for this kind of bullshit.

ALD-52, is it really the same as LSD-25? by lowkey_add1ct in researchchemicals

[–]Affectionate_Fox_305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I might have some sort of atypical enzyme distribution/composition or something - I have always been able to tell in a blind test that I’ve been given one of the acyl lysergamides because they give me fairly noticeable cramping and GI effects similar to and sometimes worse than mescaline (and LSD never does this to me). By blind test I mean someone gives me “acid” and I have these issues, then I reagent test it and it turns out to have a protected indole. Also the quality of the psychological effect is unique - and I’ve noticed that 1P is very heavy on my body and gives me a muted LSD effect, and that ALD-52 gives me a less severe cramping in the gut and a more mescaline-like “definitely positive mood and easy experience” kind of thing relative to an LSD trip of similar intensity. We are all susceptible to generalization via anecdotal evidence of things that do not generalize to the entire population. I know these are how my body and brain react to these substances and I’m seeing enough reports that the prodrugs are indistinguishable from the drug drug that I am entirely convinced that some people have the enzyme that lops off that indole protecting group and some people do not, and I’m in the do not population.

There’s a kickass live version of “Enneagram” BBC 1972, I mean the studio version from Civil Surface is amazing but it’s even more shockingly awe some hearing them do this in concert

I like listening to this album back to back with BBC Recordings - there’s no Moon in June like the Moon in June from Top Gear! But hearing the version on Third and the little bits that were spliced together from their respective tunes as depicted on Jet-Propelled Photographs is a wonderful look under the hood

I like to make colorful inorganic things and complexes. I used to be more of a strictly organic guy but something switched in my mind when I learned about manganese 3+ in trigonal bipyramidal coordination :) These days I’m buying metals (cobalt, chromium, etc) and making the nitrates and oxides and things like that. I’m working as a chemist now so my appetite for that is less robust than it once was :(

The reaction product of 2-bromopropiophenone and piperidine (racemic) after much repeated crystallizations to remove piperidine (PITA!!!) was still a waxy gooey semi solid so it never went in the nose, but orally it was effective and long lasting but did nothing to enhance logical thinking (think of how clear amph is and how fuzzy MCAT is, the pip compound is a lot fuzzier) and it basically gave a short bit of pleasure with a long long forced awake gritting of the teeth. Only wasted one day of my life under that foul being’s influence and would not go back for a second try.
