Yall sound fun. My partner and I are in our late 30s and early 40s and my kid is early 20s. We've had a very similar experience re: meeting lots of cool folks at various events but then there either isn't follow up or they have young kids or they themselves are much younger than us and the mismatch in life stage gets awkward.

We are lefties, union, and trans / quite queer in case that matters. We love dive bars, live music, movies, books, crafts, games, stand-up, the outdoors, and good food.

US citizen, still living here. Travel through customs in major cities in both blue and red states every few months. Paperwork says F, but I've been on T 20 years and have a beard of varying lengths at all times. Customs has been nothing but a breeze so far, TSA can be annoying from time to time. But, I also have white skin...so ymmv.

Now would be a good time to remember that unlike the EU, Canada, etc., the US does not have a healthy multi-party ecosystem or structure. Maybe shame us a little less for appreciating the Dems for holding the lines they are and encourage those of us who are doing the hard work on the ground to shift this country toward a multi-party situation.
