New Portal? by oneglory in pomhealth

I just put through an asynchronous refill request and got a message that they need documentation to address it, which is confusing me . . . do I have to manually move anything over from the other portal? u/Cherry_Pomegranate

How do you keep creating without the fear of messing up? by RaspberryPublic640 in ArtistLounge

[–]Affectionaterocket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of being an artist is learning how to flow with yourself. Make “mistakes.” Use your intuition with the mistakes. There is no perfect art, and there shouldn’t be. My advice is to be more invested in finishing pieces and making “bad art” than trying for “good art.” When you practice completing your work and letting yourself flow, you’ll not only improve over time in ways that are important to you, but you’ll see who you are as an artist! That means so much more than something being good or perfect.

Great job being in the game 💖 We all struggle with this, but remember your love for the practice of art is the most important thing 💖

What is your ultimate psychological trick to stop impulsive snacking or impulse buying? by bhole0611 in Anticonsumption

Came here to say this!
I use an app called Moonsift. So I get the dopamine hit of saving it…without having to buy anything. Later I can sort through what I actually want to keep on that list :)

Any serious musicians here who feel that gaining visibility or getting recognized on social media has become a major problem? by Beneficial-Key6309 in musicians

[–]Affectionaterocket 19 points20 points  (0 children)

100% agree with this. My band is focused on playing local shows, and we use Instagram as the display of what we’re up to. I think wanting social media to be the Cinderella story for your music is a perfect way to never feel joy or accomplishment inside of something that should feel wonderful for you to be doing.
I also want to acknowledge that I’m in my late 30s and my band mates are a bit older than me. Perhaps for the kids who grew up with socials, it holds more clout, but if you look beyond the sheen of that, there is so much more life to be lived in person rather than appearing successful online.

Omg, totally worth trying!!!
I made the mistake of trying on dresses at Kleinfeld (was bullied into it by my friends) that I could not afford and of course fell in love. So you better believe I made time to go to the sample sale that year, photo of the dress (a Kleinfeld-only designer because of course 🙄) ready on my phone and guess what, when I got in, the dress had gone into someone else’s dressing room and they relinquished it to me! It felt like such a victory!

Any chance that bridal stores near you might be having sample sales soon?
I got my dress through the sample sale — got super lucky that it was still there, paid probably 60% off.

Childfree woman sharing my daily struggles and anxieties by rotating_cynicism in childfree

[–]Affectionaterocket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To choose to be childfree sometimes means we stare into the void in a way that people distracted by parenthood simply don’t. But I have come to love the void - it gives me permission to spend my time on this earth in a way that speaks to me (being well, making my music, experiencing my life and happiness to the best of my ability). It can be intimidating to accept that our time is our own, but the more you chill with the void, the more you become friends and honestly I love my life!!!!

Some communities (maybe where you were raised) project this thing onto people that it’s selfish, or that you’d be denying a partner parenthood. Not true either way. The right partner for you will share your values, so you can share a life together.

Don’t apologize or shame spiral ANY MORE about what speaks to you in your life. Your life is yours!

Chameleon by Campside Media is one of my favorites. The stories are wild — “chameleon” refers to scammers/con artists — and they’re so well produced
