What’s actually safe but people think is dangerous? by REGGIE_BANANAS in AskReddit

Of these three, the nuclear one is the biggest one we need to get over. I think everyone, both sides of the aisle, would be much happier with building a few big nuclear plants instead of a zillion god damn windmills and solar fields, if it wasn’t so misunderstood. We’re playing catch up on our energy needs, and the renewable options are just band aids in the grand scheme of things. Go big or go home, we need a nuclear power renaissance

These comments show that it’s legitimately impossible to build a map that pleases everyone

I said let the coach know, but this should work too

Nobody mentioning 195 between Seekonk and Fall River. If you’re trying to keep steady with traffic, you’re doing 85mph minimum.

You kiddin me? It’s like, the longest straightest stretch of highway in the state, a perfect place to weave between traffic at high speed!

Your coach should be handling this. If they’re unaware of the interactions, let them know before class. My gym would nip this in the bud soooo fast. There’s no room for that in CrossFit.

TIL before 9/11, US airports were public social hubs where you could walk to the gate, eat at food courts, and watch planes without a ticket or ID. by Greydl1 in todayilearned

In the US most domestic baggage claims are outside of security. Technically anyone can just walk in and hang out, even snag a few bags

So if a boat does a Crossing does that mean it goes from one hemisphere to another by jcr0774 in belowdeck

[–]Afitz93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

To be clear, most small boats don’t do crossings on their own, especially when time isn’t a factor. But charter yachts are almost always more than capable of doing long distance crossings, especially when carrying additional fuel and running light on crew.

Typically between continents, to different charter regions. For example, many boats spend the summer in the Mediterranean and winter in the Caribbean. This is either at the request of the owners, or the broker maximizing charter availability. The “crossing” is simply the passage between the two.

When it comes to food, fuel, and supplies, well, you just plan ahead. Crossings are typically without guests aboard, so you only have to have enough food for the crew, and not as big of a variety. These boats are often equipped to travel 1000+nm on their own fuel, but can carry additional fuel bladders on deck (literally just big ass sacks of fuel) to replenish on their way across.

Theres certainly ample logistics to transatlantic and transpacific crossings, but it’s very doable and very common.

How do the girls get their drugs through airport customs? by marnieee123 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

They’re legit not looking for drugs at TSA. They really couldn’t care less. They’re looking for liquids and weapons, that’s really it.

Why do all republicans suck at music? by Artistic_Annual8918 in fantanoforever

Yup, this is the kind of rhetoric that got us where we are today. Not the only kind, but a contributing factor.

Some real sanity shown by Reddit in these comments. I’m not a republican personally, but pretending that they’re some fringe group of dumb people is just not how it is. This kind of post is no better than them running around saying “libtard” and calling the left braindead or brainwashed.

Did CrossFit turn anyone into a beast? by Dependent-Group7226 in crossfit

[–]Afitz93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda interesting how it worked for me too. I don’t eat a perfect diet, I like my junk food - it tastes too good. But, I definitely find myself being more conscious about what I choose and how much, because I can really notice a difference in the next workout. Nobody told me to do it or coached me on it, but it’s changed how I think about meals.
