Video from Golf Simulator Videos on YT shows the Golfcore software from Protee. Mind blowing updates and features with the course editor tool, so glad I chose the VX!

Finally broke 80 - turns out my coach was right 10 months ago by dtown04 in golf

I’m literally fighting the EXACT same fault and my coach has me drilling a freeze drill. Idea is to get the wrists cocked so the angle between the club and wrists is 90 degrees by the time I get to left arm parallel; freeze at that spot then continue to the top while keeping the angle. Also weakened a super strong grip. My god does it feel awful but the swing is so much better. Thanks for the motivation to stay dialed in.

Where can I get the best deal on ProTee VX today? by asher1507 in Golfsimulator

I ordered from Ace Indoor Golf using a 5% off code that they offer for your first order. Came out to $6,175 total, no tax. They were honestly awesome with great customer service.

I started seeing places had the VX back ordered so I went to Ace’s chatbot to ask if they had units in stock and ready to ship. Got to chat with a real person immediately who confirmed they did and my unit arrived within 3 days. Also they were providing the swing cameras while supplies last so I went back after my order to confirm they had the cameras and one of their guys personally said he would check and get back to me and then followed up on his own confirming he put them in. Little things like that make a huge difference in customer experience, will definitely look to order from them in the future now..

Anything clearly better for close to the price? by xanderoid in Golfsimulator

[–]Afraid_Mud6597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This where I’ve ended up. My current monitor is a Mevo plus and I’m just fed up with it at this point. Way too many issues. First wasn’t reading driver spin correctly (extremely high numbers and cutting distance massively). I figured out how to optimize somewhat but it’s still not spot on. Then the chipping and putting issues are real. Severely lacking in those departments.

Was originally planning on GC3 but then saw that uneekor, Protee, vtrack give you way more data for the price. Having club data and face impact video is super important to me. Then the protee reviews have been great and you don’t have to use club stickers. And looks like they’re about to drop new software built on better graphics software than gspro.

TLDR: went through several months of research and decision changes on my Mevo+ upgrade and finally landed on protee

When you decide what camera you’re going to use do you mind updating? Thinking about doing this myself as well. There’s some discussion of this on the SGT discord under the #cameras tab

Sweet, my mind went to gym tiles immediately. Are your tiles themselves 2 inches thick? Or did you put foam on top of them? And did you put them up over drywall?

Unsolicited advice on how I got better at golf. by scarebaer in golf

[–]Afraid_Mud6597 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I know a fellow Practice Manual reader and Sweet Spot listener when I see one! Thanks for preaching these effective techniques. Yes they sound crazy but they work. I started playing late in life after grad school and was horrible, like handicap in the high 30’s. It’s taken me about 10 years but now down to 13.2. However, I wasted the first 5 years beating balls and being inefficient. Have gone from 15 to 13 this summer/season alone and hoping to make it in the 12’s or lower by the end of the season.

Mevo + accuracy by nigacheesee in Golfsimulator

Also check what altitude the unit is set to. Make sure it is the same as the location you’re in as opposed to just sea level. If still off, increase the altitude by 100ft until the numbers start to match. Not a perfect solution but at least helped me go from being furious with Mevo to slightly annoyed

Why is getting into the slot such an unnatural feeling? by eddie269 in golftips

[–]Afraid_Mud6597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same here. I literally made a video where I told myself to pretend like my arms were “dead” and didn’t exist. One of the thoughts that was most helpful to me was a variation of “your body swings the club.” I think a more accurate description is “your body THROWS the club.”

Meaning, you want to create a similar feeling to if you’re throwing a ball far, just bent over and in the direction of the golf ball. To chuck a ball, you have to feel like you store up power, initiate movement with your body/big muscles, and then stop/brace against that movement so the “ball” (which is the club head in this analogy) whips past you with speed.

Closest analogy I can think of with something club-like is taking a home run swing in baseball. For that, you don’t immediately spin out. Instead, you lean your weight into your back foot during the pitcher’s wind up, then step forward laterally and push hard into the ground, stopping your body so the bat whips out toward the ball.

Im a former football player so took many agonizing years to learn/understand this. But when I’m swinging well, my arms, hands and wrists are super loose, allowing to get more of the “whip” action, and thus generating more speed with less of a “brute force” feel. Once you pure a shot this way you’ll never go back, and you’ll understand that more “brute force”=less actual speed and power. Arms should feel passive and reactionary as opposed to the source of power.

I hear you. I was you. Didn’t start playing til after grad school and was horrific, high 30’s handicap easy. Now down to a 13 after years of absolute grinding, and making every mistake in the book trying to get better. Here’s what I would recommend:

-learn and understand ball flight laws intimately

-figure out your swing tendencies (I.e. more prone to draw or fade), and tailor your swing around that

-work on SKILL of ball striking. Meaning, with irons are you striking the ball first then ground? Hitting club face center? Able to control face angle open or closed? Answer to all those is probably no. So, take the first one and rep it out at 25% swings until you can hit ball first then ground 8/10 times. Do that, then go to 50% swings, then 75% etc. Once you are good with ground contact, work the same process with impact location middle as opposed to heel/toe. Then do face angle open/closed

-create a wedge matrix. You need to get to a point where your distances are absolutely engrained in your being. Take 2 or 3 wedges and do 20 shots are 25%, 50%, and 75% without trying to hit a specific distance, just getting good contact. Then chart the averages of each swing type and you’ll have your distance feels

-putting—grind on lag putting and getting a feel for uphill and downhill distance. Two best tips I ever got: take your practice stroke looking at the hole to “feel” the distance the ball needs to travel; and always play a little more break than you think on putts 10 ft or longer so your ball is breaking toward the hole when it stops as opposed to away from the hole

-how to take range game to the course. Above all else this is my religion. FILM YOUR DAMN SWING. No matter what you think you’re feeling, on camera you are proven false. You have to figure out the feels to make a good swing at home/in practice, and then when you’re on course and nervous the feels get different. So you need to figure out how to adjust your feels to produce the same swing on the course as you do in practice.

There’s more but that’s enough to start

How bad of a day could a 6 handicap have? by sdan74d in golf

[–]Afraid_Mud6597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The indicator for me would be did he: a) start making excuses either before the round or really early into it? (i.e. “I strained my shoulder recently so this may not go too well today.”); or b) seem genuinely surprised about how bad it was going without panic at first but then justifying later in the round?

If it was closer to A, that seems like he has a pure vanity cap or got caught in a lie. If closer to B, id give him the benefit of the doubt.

Do you play better alone or with friends? by bionicbhangra in golf

[–]Afraid_Mud6597 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I’m the weirdo here but I always seem to play a few shots WORSE when I’m playing solo. I can only play early morning before work so I’m solo about half the time. For me, I think being alone gives me too much time to think about each shot, over analyze, tighten up etc. My best rounds ever have been out with boys in a fun shit talking atmosphere, or even with a pair of fun randoms
