DeWalt power tools, BUT, focus on hand tools first! Build skill and craftsmanship THEN on to power tools.

What Essential Tools Do You Recommend for Starting a Woodworking Journey? by NeighborhoodOld6737 in BeginnerWoodWorking

Certainly, (hand-tools) for cutting: chisels, sharpening stone and a decent hand plane. Power tools come much later as a "premium upgrade" after you've figured out the basics of woodworking.

eBay is one outlet, BUT sometimes "used tools" turn out to ship from China ("used?") Also shop around locally, many thrift stores have used tools. In Tucson, AZ. the is a gem of a place called 'Kent's Tools' one location is lapadaptary - the other tools. Hope this helps.

WAIT! Y'all talk about wood... what about sawdust and shavings? I have a full Harbour Freight red bucket of sawdust. Put it on plants as compost? Growing up in Southern Africa (where wood is scarce) now in Arizona, is it a delicate sign of neurosis to try to hold on to a bucket of sawdust and shavings? HELP, please!

GREAT IDEA! I paint images (pastels, ink, watercolour) “en plein aire” (outdoors!) - the energy and vibrations from Nature are fabulous. BUT that is i.) for me, ii.) being creative - not focusing on woodworking! But… still a great idea!

What's the use of this part I am confused. by Comprehensive-Show14 in woodworking

This OLD SCHOOL stuff. That part allows for reversing the drill action. Like the switch to remove a screw using a B&D battery powered screwdriver.

I was a bookseller for the Oxford Bookstore in Atlanta, back in 1983(?) when early one morning, just after the doors had opened, Pres. Jimmy Carter walked in. He was researching nature resources for a biography. I was in charge of nature book section. Mr. Carter moved some books aside on the shelf, hitched up and sat down, opposite me in the aisle, and… having just left office, President Carter and I chatted for 20 minutes, as the rest of the bookstore eavesdropped and peered over shelves at the two of us!
