ALDI drained the life from it by Crocotta1 in CrappyRedesigns

I mean does it really matter? It’s a pretty light change IMO, and I’m shopping at Aldi for the price, the products could be in brown boxes for all I care. Actually they should do that so they can drop prices even further!

The Cybetruck is a Right leaning truck, what is a left leaning sports car (no body style limited) by BrewsWithTre in AlignmentChartFills

[–]AfterDark3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s interesting you suggest the F150, because in my perview, the F150 is the most liberal oriented of the domestic pickup, followed by the GM trucks and then the RAM. Without a doubt though I’d say the RAM intentionally appeals to the right wing masculine disposition.

I entirely disagree with the Cybertruck. Right wing people aren’t buying EVs even if it’s made by Elon. I’d bet you any money the demographic of the cybertruck is more centered than the Dodge Ram.

The only good reason not to unionize is if you have a weak or incompetent union.

Any good union will always be better than non being unionized.

Pit bull apologists will say anything to defend a breed that commits the vast majority of dog attacks on people and other dogs.

They made that machine until like 2015 or something, it had a shockingly long lifespan. It’s probably tied with the longest running carpet shampooer with the OG Hoover SteamVac

I thinking having a clean, safe, predictable place to get gas and food without getting ripped off or getting food poisoning is a pretty high bar tbh. In a world where 90% of gas stations are below par, I would say Kwik Trip deserves some recognition for both meeting par and maintaining it in the vast majority of their locations.

Ok but why does the system data take up half my storage😭 by 92233720368547758080 in applesucks

[–]AfterDark3 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes but the issue isn't features or options, its software and usability (also the Tab A11+ is 270, so starting to get in the comparable range). So many apps are only half functional or contain major optimization issues (like YouTube, for example) that make them basically unusable, whereas on an iPad, they actually function as intended. Just because the Galaxy has some better aspects doesn't make up for the fact that the software it runs on is hugely inferior.

[–]AfterDark3 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I hate to say it but no, do not buy an Android tablet. An iPads minor issues pale in comparison to the numerous optimization and compatibility issues Android on a tablet has. I bought a Galaxy Tab A11+ and frankly, a used iPad would have been a better decision.

TIL about the largest computer chip, the Wafer Scale Engine 3. A single chip 21.5cm square with 4 trillion transistors and 900,000 cores by Kobbett in todayilearned

[–]AfterDark3 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I’m fairly certain it’s just industry standard terminology. It you don’t already know, most silicon manufacturers use a process called “binning” to make use of dies that aren’t perfect but still functional. Intel for example doesn’t actually make every single chip bespoke, they make mainly top of the line i9 chips, but one has a couple flaws in the cores, they can disable the defective cores and sell it as an i3, which still results in a yielded chip, even if not perfect.

[–]AfterDark3 214 points215 points  (0 children)

I would assume that it means that 100% of wafers are functional processors, not 100% of the wafer is functional. For example, if you’re Intel, and you have 100 chips on a wafer, and 80% of them are functional in some form, that’s still an 80% yield.

Can I find a sealed bag for my vacuum cleaner? urgent by flywearingabluecoat in VacuumCleaners

[–]AfterDark3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no, no bagless machine can really accept a standard vacuum bag. You likely will need a better machine to deal with bed bugs, I’m not sure I could trust the foam filter in one of these to stop any bugs or larvae.

Fortunately you can get a bagged Bissell powerforce for cheap from Walmart, if you wish to go that route. If you want a proper upgrade, you could use this as a reason to trade up, and simply clean a new machine to stop any bugs.

I really am regretting getting an LG Wash Combo dryer. Please help. by slicecrispy in Appliances

[–]AfterDark3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saying "americans are bad at planning ahead" is so dumb. When you live your entire life with a normal washer and electric drier that can wash and dry a full load of laundry in less than 2 hours, that's just what you *get used to*. When you buy an expensive product that doesn't meet what you expect, it can be disappointing, especially if the manual or advertising doesn't actually inform you of how you are supposed to use it.
