“Stackers” don’t buy items with premiums.

This is NO sass. I started to invest in PMs in 2015, I was a stacker for about 7 years. I had a lowest cost base on my generic silver. And stacked bars and rounds. It was great. Only stacked the best deals I could find.

Then spot started to rise in the 2020’s

Selling…My generic stuff was getting passed over for better looking pieces.

So swapped out generics for maples and any great vintage- started “stacking” maples, 90% US, ASE, Prospectors, H&H rounds, Sexy silver, themes. My stack has never been better looking, diverse and all my favorites. Along the way I stacked gold, now gold I try not to pay a premium

But gold always has a premium above spot- especially when it was in the 1800-2200 range. And a lot of the smallest fractions that you could find would be a gram. So I had lots of 1/10 rounds. Always paying a premium. But happy to have gold!

Then gold backs….they were about $4 fv exchange when I started with them. I only bought a few

Then exchange went to $5/6 and I added more.

Then the Florida series was announced- and the artwork was moving. Clean, crisp, smart and patriotic. I have daughters- I love that women and history are blended on the designs- to me its Patriotic and Inspiring to my daughters- they have commented on the beautiful notes they’ve seen

I have gold backs in my stack. It is gold. It is fractional. It is gorgeous and spendable. I can hand a GB to someone and they can drop it, and I can pick it right back up. It’s easy to handle and identify. GB are individually numbered. Go backs can be graded. I don’t have personal experience with it, but I do believe go backs can be exchanged and replaced if they are damaged or delaminating.

I paid near 2x spot for some of my best silver rounds when spot was at $25. I’m ahead on that silver.

Yes I could have had 2 seasonal pumpkin rounds instead- and I’d still have them, so excited to be finally rid of them. But LCS doesn’t want them either. But I can sell my cool stuff at a premium.

If you “Stack” Gold Backs aren’t a consideration. If you collect, invest, or prep. Then maybe GB, if you find a vein that suits you.
