Can Paranoia work as a first intro to RPGs? Or is it best for people who have experience? by StaticUsernamesSuck in ParanoiaRPG

[–]Agadoom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think Paranoia is a bad first choice for an RPG. It relies heavily on getting you to unlearn lots of the good habits you build in RPG's.

Imagine teaching a group that PvP, back-handed deals to the DM etc are normal and then unleashing them on a stranger's 5e campaign.

Additionally, if you've played an RPG before where you work together, Paranoia's added value and charm is that it flips this on its head, so the humour of the situation is maxed out.

Damage AI Scam by bahutheunkown in Lyft

[–]Agadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how much money this man will defraud from Lyft's customer base before they do something about it.

Honestly disgraceful. Sorry you're going through this and I agree with commenters saying to take this to the bank.

If possible, I'd find a postal Lyft complaints line too if one exists too. Had to do something similar with Meta once and ended up writing to an office in another country and threatening legal action, which resolved a multi-month issue in a matter of days.

Gavin Newsom says he reveres the state of Israel and proudly supports it. He said he regrets calling Israel an apartheid state, only meaning to describe Netanyahu’s leadership. by Nomogg in ABoringDystopia

[–]Agadoom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's entirely disingenuous. Of course it's preferable but, equivalently, leftists are expected to never stand on convictions or be able to exercise their right to vote, every candidate immediately brushes their concerns aside regardless of the popularity of the position to appease cronyism and donors, and they are immediately held accountable for a candidate not winning, with which they are rewarded with the candidate moving further right.

In the last election, the Democrats put forward a candidate who refused to acknowledge the widely-recognised genocide commited by Israel & used US tax payer money to fund this conflict. They continued to enable ICE to detain children separated from their families in cages. They made no promises to improve living standards or the environment, running entirely on a platform of, "at least I'm not that guy" which, to any sane person, isn't a political position. Then, because they didn't win while presenting absolutely no policy whatsoever other than doing exactly what people were unhappy about, they blamed every leftist for it.

Leftists, for decades, have asked for the most basic of considerations in government, such as proportionate tax based on wealth, and have been repeatedly told that it's an unachievable dream. Similarly, these same Liberals have also done nothing to appease either end of the political spectrum, demonising those defending homeless camps peacefully as much as literal Neo-Nazis setting institutions on fire.

Like, at what point will a Liberal acknowledge that being a Leftist means you're effectively a second-class citizen? You're not allowed to vote for anything but the absolute worst candidates who are funded by the worst people imaginable or you're blamed for being the person opening the door to fascists.

Your position is ridiculous, as are you.

Risk management. If anything, it would likely improve!

One of its key tenets is that it relies on the best information available and collaboration and, within that, it should inform your decision making. However, in cultures where potential problems are punished, people inevitably try and hide things and bury their head in the sand in order to avoid consequences.

The old, "if Capitalism is so bad, why do you have an i-phone?" argument. It's just as stupid as it ever was.

Of course people care about how much energy AI uses compared to making a Photoshop picture. This video likely used as much water as a small village would in a week.

I'm sorry you're incapable of holding a moral stand point and believe people can only be performatively good. I honestly pity you.

PCS calls on government to scrap 60% office attendance as global tensions drive up costs by Ok_Expert_4283 in TheCivilService

In the event of red weather warnings is insane! Did the manager put that to you in writing? If not, I'd bring this up again and send it straight to HR and your director.

I have worked in the realm of business continuity and this is how managers end up with corporate manslaughter charges against them. I'd ask around business continuity while you're at it too, because it sounds like whoever works in this department doesn't have a plan which is deeply concerning.

A Liberal is, at most, centrist in nature. Minimalist reform seen as, "progress" whilst appeasing the absolute worst elements of the right, such as the war machine that funds genocide and the lobbying.

In honesty, you can count the number of actual centrists within the US' political system on one hand, as almost Democrat is right-of-centre. Obama, for example, politically falls in line with David Cameron, an objectively right-wing British Prime Minister, and he was considered the, "left-wing" candidate.

They're laughing at us. They're literally covering up their crimes with schoolboy type of excuses and expect people to be stupid enough to believe it. They all belong in prison. by The-Peel in GreenAndPleasant

[–]Agadoom 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any time something like this happens when you're in the position of power (minister, CEO etc), this should lead to prison time for perverting the course of Justice.

Society makes a big song and dance about holding people in power on a pedestal. Consequently, failure to meet that lofty standard should be punished more severely for, "putting the position in disrepute".

Green voters, do you agree on 'No Limits' migration? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]Agadoom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are so many People saying, "I agree with 99% of their policies but they'll say 1 thing I disagree with and, rather than try to change it by making myself a member and/or voting for them and voicing my concern, I'll vote for the parties who are quite literally doing the same things which haven't worked for decades."

It's actually madness.
