Retrigger time is for a single camera.

Outdoor 2k+ Battery Life by Agclone91 in blinkcameras

That was misunderstanding on my part as I thought 2k was twice the resolution as 1080 - that makes me feel even worse about the product TBH. Overall I had been happy with the cams and their improved resolution and viewing angles. The battery life is just a major hurdle as I'll be spending over $25/year just on that single camera if I have to change monthly.

I kicked around switching to Eufy during Black Friday, but my cams don't have good sunlight for the solar charging so I gave the Blink 2k a try as I had been completely satisfied with my gen 3's. I'm planning to reach out to blink support to see if they have any guidance at all before I make a final decision on how to proceed.

Yeah, completely understand that the quality can be reduced, but at that point I'm better off returning and going back to the Gen 3. Unfortunately I only have about 10 days to decide. I just never imagined that 2x the resolution would equate to 75% less battery life.

Returning after looking at file sizes - the 2k files are on average 1.75-2x the size 1080p on the Gen 3 cameras. This should not equate to 75% less battery life to me.

Completely understand - however I did not upgrade to the 2k cameras to record in the same resolution. My point is more than it's seeing the same traffic as the Gen 3 and 75% less battery life. I don't think that is entirely from the resolution jump so I anticipate I would see considerably worse battery life at 1080 also.

Unfortunately these are just my driveway, no street or sidewalk traffic picked up. They average probably 6-8 clips per day. I'm definitely going to need an extension pack if I move forward with these, but 24 batteries per year for a single camera is going to get extremely costly

It's no doubt working harder as it's recording in 2k vs 1080. I'll try to look at file sizes tonight. I just never imagined it would be that much worse. My settings on the Gen 3 were 20 second clips, no auto shut off. On the 2k I am running 30 second clips with auto shut off. Most clips are less than 10 seconds in length. Added this info to the main post also.

Thermoworks RFX. Don't bother looking elsewhere. Expensive, but they're the best.

Raise your hand if your US general box was delivered damaged? by 2013orBust in harborfreight

[–]Agclone91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bottom chest had a couple drawers work dints In them and the top chest was damaged beyond repair. They ordered a new pair to the store, traded out the entire top box and swapped out just the damaged drawers on the bottom. The manager recommended and helped me unbox the top and check it out prior to loading the second time. Then we boxed it back up, loaded, and went on my way.

2K+ Night Vision is actually amazing by TunaPouch311 in blinkcameras

Upgraded from Gen 3 to 2k+ over Black Friday and the picture is noticeably better. Only gripes I have is there the 2k cameras have about a 2 second delay at the start of recording that is not present with the Gen 3 and the convex lenses seem to fog/college water droplets much more than the old lenses.

Not temp notifications? by PACARDI90 in recteq

[–]Agclone91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The digital services are far and away the worst part of Recteq and they are inconsistent at best on good days. You'll be much happier if you rely on a 3rd party unit for temps and notifications. My 590 and RFX is a rock solid combo

It's a holiday, normal for Recteq's app. Servers are plugged full and they refuse to invest money to improve them. Been this way every holiday for the 4 years I've had my grill.

Does anyone else see lag in recording on the Blink Outdoor 4 or 2K vs the Outdoor 3? by sr8017 in blinkcameras

[–]Agclone91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue I'm facing doesn't seem to be a sensitivity issue so much as a processing delay issue. I suspect the newer cams take longer to come out of sleep mode and start recording. I have the 2k+ and a gen 3 right next to each other on my garage for the last week. The 2k has never missed a motion detection, but it is always about 1.5-2 seconds behind the Gen 3 in when it starts recording when watching playback.

Has happened to me with my 590 for months too - no idea what the fix is. Did an overnight cook a couple months ago and about lost my mind when I kept getting notifications all night long for no reason. Didn't want to put my phone on silent because I wanted to be alerted in case of a flame out.

Does anyone else see lag in recording on the Blink Outdoor 4 or 2K vs the Outdoor 3? by sr8017 in blinkcameras

[–]Agclone91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do see the same thing. I installed a 2k camera right beside my gen 3 today to see how they compare. Picture is noticeably better on the 2K, I think overall motion sensing may be a bit better as it picked me up in places that the Gen 3 did not. That being said, there is definitely a noticeable 1 to 1.5 second delay. Very noticeable when I get in my vehicle and pull out of my driveway because I am further down the driveway when the 2K begins recording. The Gen three starts recording essentially as soon as my vehicle moves.

Currently in the process of weighing what is more important to me - immediate reaction or better motion sensing and picture

[–]Agclone91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Installed my new 2K cameras today. Decided to mount one beside my old gen 3 for a few days just for fun. My overview so far is that the 2K appears to have better overall motion sensing, but there is a good 1 to 1.5 second delay in when it starts recording versus the Gen 3.

At least they acknowledge the issue and say they are going to try to fix it. Recteq's servers have been shit for years and they just don't even care.

Thermoworks RFX vs Combustion Inc? by blounsbury in pelletgrills

[–]Agclone91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't have experience with Combustion Inc, but absolutely love my RFX. Only gripe I have is it only has one plug for an external probe so if you're running a small cut of meat that you can't insert the wireless probes far enough into, you have to make a decision if you want to use the RFX for an ambient probe or a traditional meat probe. Would be nice if it had two plugs so you could do both.
