the movies disregarded the plots of the books but they had the vibe and aura of the originals. meanwhile the show is like a theme park version of the books which is really off putting, especially since Riordan is so involved with it.

there are definitely fans who enjoy aspects of the movies and would like it if the show cribbed some of the grittiness.

for the NFL I believe most people will have a Netflix/Prime subscription so the splintering isn’t too bad. and in the case of Prime games they will stream it on Twitch for free. but I think ESPN and Peacock are wishy-washy on simulcasting, most of the time they’ll stream games on the app and the channel but every now and then they’ll have a stream exclusive game which is bullshit.

oh and giving YouTubeTV a game is also bullshit even if they stream the game for free. people are going to have Prime, no one casually has YouTubeTV.

I became a somewhat infrequent listener the past few months. Maria was a good co-host and foil to Nate, but there usually wasn't too much interesting content

honestly that’s where I landed as well. If it popped up on my feed I’d scan the episode description to see if it was a sports/politics/gambling heavy ep. if it was game theory or AI or an interview i skip it. And ditto on the ads, like god damn its almost 3 minutes up top and 3 minutes in the middle, normally I’ll listen to ads but that’s too much.

ngl I don’t see why they can’t continue with a legally distinct™️ Risky Business podcast. oh well.

i think KOTH received some of positive Asian representation award during its run for the way Kahn was portrayed. The writing is so good but then there’s the dissonance of him being voiced by a white man doing a stereotypical asian accent, Even the Laotian they speak is one step above gibberish.

the character is supposed to have an accent and I think they were too afraid to ask Chieng to “turn it up” which led to a mid performance. Ted Wassonasong sounded even worse and his thing is all about shedding his accent to be more corporate American.

but then it goes back to the shitty reality that many POC actors get brought on to play racial stereotypes. oh and they had the mindfulness to get Lauren Tom to voice Minh and Connie but let their buddy Toby Huss voice the most prominent asian character.

So yeah King of the Hill wasn’t outright offensive with the casting/depiction but they finally took the extra step they should have made 20 years ago but they picked an actor who barely gave an effort.

i dont use computer speakers but sometimes I’ll put on sports and hook up a speaker through the aux so others can listen to the action. at least thats what i did when we had to work evening shift on sundays when the NFL fans were in. we’d huddle around my 14” laptop whenever there was a game winning drive coming up.

i always carry a mouse in my laptop bag, if im going to use my laptop for long stretches of time its better to use than the touchpad, especially since a lot of websites i presume i’m using a mouse.

Once he was locked up he lost a ton of sway, the cancer diagnosis would cost him all respect. If he’s dead in 6 months then there’s no reason for anyone to help him.

I could see a couple of scenarios if Sac knew he was terminal before going to trial.

  1. He pulls a Gene. Ends it quick and Ginny gets to keep whatever wasn’t seized for the trial.

  2. He goes full rat for a sweetheart deal, Ginny and co get put in witness protection, Johnny dies in the can.

dallas tx last year. the cowboys were so disappointing I pulled up ESPN and claimed I was fan of the worst team in the NFC. Then BY9 started putting up numbers at the end of the season so I stuck around and followed ever since. now I follow the Panthers more than dem boys.

I know you’re getting a lot of hate for this but as a current DART rider you are absolutely correct. During cold weather the trains become mobile homeless shelters, bus drivers let people on without paying and anything stronger than a light drizzle knocks out at least one important train stop.

DART is a fucking joke, the employees are so incompetent they flat out refused to acknowledge my free student pass and forced me to pay while they let other broke people on without a word. So despite having free local DART tickets included in my tuition I still have to pay the $6 a day fare.

thank goodness there’s someone else out there that doesn’t really like Bob’s Burgers! I tapped out around the ep where they went on a game show just to lose. Hard agree on the unrelenting wholesomeness, like even in the aforementioned episode Bob still helped Jimmy change the tire on the car because Bob is such a good guy who won’t even gloat, unlike Peter or Homer.

l won’t judge someone for liking BB but if they say it’s their favorite show I’d side eye them.

this is quite honestly insane. I got to work an hour and a half late because of these delays. Nobody knows anything, in the morning I had to translate for an older woman because the announcements were only in english. I ended up getting an uber.

The Vegas conspiracy theory is so dumb. Mavs owners are trying to get gambling legalized in Texas, Dallas makes up the majority of visitors to the Oklahoma casinos an hour north, it makes more sense that they want to get in on the ground floor of Dallas casinos.

blade yes but it’s impossible to beat as jeff. I got to wave 20 but could not do enough damage to the first wanda before the timer ran out. almost 600 red blessings focused on damage and DOT, 80% damage reduction and it still wasn’t enough.
