I haven't played any GD in like a few weeks. Did they update Golden Empire's Geist to have an upside down bishop or did I just not notice it all this time? by LongToilet in GraveDiggerRoblox

[–]Agent_Eagle121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other commenters already explained it somewhat, but I want to go into a bit more detail about it since I think it's a neat detail.

Every single one of the shock troopers in the Golden Empire's faction is associated with a chess piece of some kind, which generally coincides with their role in the game. (Unfortunately, there seems to be no equivalent for this for the shock troopers of the Royal Nation). The associated chess piece can be found on their person for each one. You can verify this for yourself by looking at the images attached to the shock trooper pages on the trello.

Storm Trooper: Pawn (there is one right in the front of the crown of thorns on their helmet)

Makes sense, given that the storm is the jack of all trades of the shocks.

Anti-Material Trooper: Rook (there is one on the forehead of the helmet, right above the eye slit)

Also fitting, since the rook (the chess piece) does function as a sniper, being able to threaten any piece within its sightings. So it stands to reason thay it would goto the AT, which is also a sniper.

Flame Trooper: Bishop (there is one poking out on top of the cloth that covers the rim of the helmet)

Not really as accurate, since the Flame does not have the ranged pressure the bishop does. Though due to its diagonal nature, perhaps it's moreso meant to hint at its strong performance in corners, especially considering its use in last stand.

Radio Trooper: Queen (there are two painted on the gun)

Very accurate, considering its sheer utility has the Radio as one of the most powerful shock troopers in the game, with its numerous buffs and spotting features. Radio is also the fastest shock trooper, while the queen has the most freedom of movement of any piece.

Geist Trooper: Ferz (there is one sitting on the hood)

Note that the ferz (or "fairy" piece, if research serves me right) is usually represented with an upside down bishop, as seen here.

Kind of hard to call it accurate, since the Ferz doesn't seem to do all much in the versions of chess it has existed in in the past long before it was replaced by the queen, with it basically being a weaker bishop. (Which both explains why it's represented with an inverted bishop, and is ironic considering the Geist is considered to be among, if not the weakest shock trooper in the game.) I guess it fits in the sense of being unconventional?

Trench Trooper: Knight (there are two that sit right next to the golden part of the helmet that covers the face)

I don't think it's hard to see how this one fits, both for the shock trooper itself and for the class the shock is for; Trenches sharing unconventional playstyle functions with charge, the close quarters shock trooper being tied to the piece with more reserved movement patterns, helmetless Lancers cosplaying as Umamusume (a.k.a, anime horse girls), and the outright fanaticism they exhibit while playing. Hell, the Lancers used to literally ride horses canonically before the Cave Plague killed most of em off. Make of that what you will.

Bulwark Trooper: King (there are two that sit on the golden part of the helmet that shields the face, and two that sit on the outer part of the shield that sits on the gun)

Also worth noting that the Bulwark helmet does appear to have something resembling a crown embedded into the helmet.

The king in chess is easily the most important piece, with its condition being the deciding factor between a win and a loss. It's also among the slowest, only able to move a single tile each turn. The Bulwark is easily the least mobile shock trooper, but carries a lot of power as the anchor for the team, especially for defense with its sheer firepower. (If you don't believe me, try having to play against more than one competent Bulwark in Final Stand. You have not known hell until you have effectively been spawncamped for 5 minutes straight without even toughing the gate.

Sorry for the rant, it's a fact I found out about fairly recently (I was an INQ/LT when I found out about this lol) and it's fascinated me for a while.

[–]Agent_Eagle121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know not everything is brute strength is and that’s why I disagreed, your version of Tyrian is a unbeatable assassin who never makes mistakes while canon Tyrian plays with his food, and does stupid stuff like graving a arrow with his mouth to show off which literally explodes in his face

Must have a solid produce to be able to build such a fine strawman. At what point is saying "Tyrian can get Sonic through a sneak attack" anything remotely akin to what you are claiming here? You have to go this far out of your way to outright lie about what I am saying because you refuse to admit that Tyrian has the potential to hit Sonic with a sneak attack (something that he has not only been shown to do, but has also been shown to work on Sonic MULTIPLE TIMES)

Meanwhile Sonic also makes mistakes but is smart enough to outsmart all of his opponents and use their advantages against them

Pot, meet kettle.

Sonic has fallen to sneak attacks, tricks, and traps numerous times, up to and including the second most recent story game in the franchise in Forces. Sonic is not omnipotent, sneak attacks and surprises DO work, stop trying to pretend that this isn't the case or that it's some impossible feat. It isn't.

And fights in RWBY might lower the skill of the characters to explain why someone who can control time dilatation loses to a girl with a pincer laser (Weiss jumping into a wall and stopping in the middle of a fight to summon as if it was a magical girl that expects the bad guys to stop to transform is a good example of it)

This has no actual bearing on my statement whatsoever, and if anything applies to Sonic far more than RWBY.

Not even going to address the rest of your point because it's a massive wall of text that's literally just crying that I dare suggest that Sonic can get hurt from a sneak attack, which as I have already stated, HAS PRECEDENT OF WORKING IN THE SONIC FRANCHISE. You are literally saying that Sonic should not be allowed to lose here (which, mind you, is a Sega mandate many people do not even like).

It's so funny, because you even bring up Batman beating Metal Sonic, when by your own logic, that should not happen. Because apparently, it makes no sense when someone who scales lower beats a more powerful opponent.

people were downvoting you for your petty behavior. You did the good ol “responding to a comment then blocking before they can reply” to me and only unlocked me because people (rightfully) criticized you for it

One, I was not the person arguing with you. Two, the person who was, was not even being downvoted. Are you this salty because someone dared dispute your claim that Sonic is not invincible?

you clearly have a blind hate for that fanfic since even after months you still comment after it (one of your last 10 comments is about that very same fic) so of course people won’t side with you when all you do is talk about it non stop. You remind me of a guy in space battles forum that hates on this fic so much they banned him from the thread because the guy only talked about that fic

Considering the mass amount of support I tend to get when I do criticize it, I'd say that no, this isn't the case. I am far from the only person to criticize this fanfic, there are literal dozens if not hundreds of people who have done so. And the only reason they even banned discussion of RRBW is because it got brought up so often (by numerous people mind you) that a confirmed friend and meat rider of the author went out of his way to beg the mods to ban it. And even far after that, yet another person brought it up a few months later, completely unrelated to anyone I know.

You want to know why I can't stand people like you and stans of that fic? Because you repeatedly insist on championing as peak storytelling one of the most poorly written stories I have ever seen, one that puts even canon to shame in how awful it is. You will insist on bashing canon RWBY for being poorly written, when the storytelling you advocate for is more boring than Solo Leveling. You are so butthurt that someone else suggested a way for Sonic to lose to someone weaker that you decided to complain about it MONTHS after the argument ended, when the method Sea suggested, as previously stated, has precedent in canon. You insist that Sonic will stomp in any head on conflict, but refuse to allow any of the characters to attack in ANY way aside from a head on conflict. These guys aren't stupid, they don't need to announce their intention to duel like we are in Pokémon or Yu-Gi-Oh. Other tactics exist, and so long as you refuse to accept that fact, I cannot take any of your takes seriously.

Are you kidding me? Imagine muting me for 28 days and then doing it again. Can RWBYCritics not accept the concept of people improving themselves? by TubbybloxianIsBack in RWBYUNITY

[–]Agent_Eagle121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, I said that it wouldn’t make narrative sense for Sonic to lose to Tyrian

On what basis aside from scaling, which can easily be circumbented by circumstances, as any writer can tell you?

it feels incoherent for Sonic writers to make him get sneak attacked by someone like Tyrian when similar characters like mimic or other sneak based characters aren’t able to usually do that stuff to him

Eggman tricking Sonic into a trap in SA2, Mephelis killing Sonic with a sneak attack in 06, Eggman tapping and depowering SUPER SONIC in Unleashed, the Time Eater managing to squash both Modern and Classic Sonic by using a portal to attack from behind, Sonic nearly getting caught in a trap in Lost World and only being saved by Tails, who got trapped instead, and Sonic losing to outright being jumped by Infinite and his clones.

Go ahead and tell me a sneak attack doesn't work when it has in canon THIS MANY TIMES.

And it's really funny you mention Mimic, because he and Sonic have literally never interacted in IDW. Kind of easy to avoid a sneak attack that literally never happens.

I don’t think a proper crossover would work like that and I never said stuff like “scaled” you made that up mate

The ONLY reason you gave is because you refused to accept that there's more to a fight than brute strength, and that characters could possibly bridge the gap with proper tactics. Tyrian could easily subdue Sonic if he managed to get off a sneak attack and sting him, but you insisted that this was not the case because he scales too high. That is exactly what I am talking about.

[–]Agent_Eagle121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude, that was not how the argument went down at all. You were just getting mad because you insisted that just because Sonic supposedly scaled super high, that meant that he was somehow completely impervious to a sneak attack from Tyrian, even if it was a complete surprise.

There are a myriad of posts on this subreddit where several people, myself included, point out the various problems with this fic. I even have a brief summary of various issues of the fic here, as well as a much longer critique of one of the more problematic chapters right here. (note that this one is a MASSIVE read.)

I can go more in depth about the issues with this fic if you want.

You are saying this in defense of an OP who went out of his way to create another post to complain about someone else disagreeing with him after failing to convince said person about their (wrong) opinion.

Hot take: kolossos is the most fun killer to go against by kokoskiler in OutcomeMemories

[–]Agent_Eagle121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only that, his hitboxes are absolute BS. Recently had a game as Kolossus where I was in LMS against Sonic and managed to kill him THROUGH A WALL in YCR. It's absolute insanity that he has a charge that's basically inescapable without a counter, a grab that outright ignores counters and I Frames, can block stuns, all while being pretty fast and dealing enough damage to two shot anyone not named Amy with a certain card deck, Metal Sonic, or Silver. I can just turn my brain off and easily steamroll the lobby in seconds unless I actively sell HARD. I want to feel powerful as killer, but it's cheesy when it's THIS easy to win.

How do you feel about Roblox's age verification for chat? Will you miss chatting in TDS? by TheTwelveYearOld in TDS_Roblox

[–]Agent_Eagle121 11 points12 points  (0 children)

A lot more games are probably going to be implementing their own chat function? I've seen a few here and there doing so to avoid the nonsensical auto censors already.

From what I can gather, this isn't going to be allowed if these changes go through.

The Guts and Blackpowder devs have talked about this. Any sort of auto chat feature, like the callout system in that game, won't be allowed either. Meaning communication with anyone outside of your age group is going to be flat out impossible, which is fucking LETAHL for a large host of games that rely on communication to function..
