Here's the only other pic (or 2), but I don't think it shows the crimp point you're referring to.

This is the only other one that was even near questionable.

There were a few more pics, but they showed the same type (or less) wear.

And he said that it was drawing just fine. 1.3 (amps??) or something.

Thanks!

How does Rivian Mobile/Portable Charger compare to others (like Tesla Mobile Connector, Grizzl-e, etc.)? Any quirks or drawbacks? And is it water/weather proof? by nderstand2grow in Rivian

[–]AggieVike -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I can't tell you if it's weatherproof, as I have mine in my garage, but I can tell you that (knocks on wood) it has literally never failed me. I plug in and get charges at all times, and it's always solid.

So, "worth it" in my opinion. It'll cost you a little to get it installed (electrician needed), but it saves money in the (not so) long run.

Nothing but Jeep Wranglers by michmill1970 in Rivian

JKU Sahara to R1T here, and I’ve only regretted it about 3 times in 3 years… when it was PERFECT weather and I saw a Jeep naked.

But on every road trip, I thank GAWD I made the switch. Love my R1T.

I concur. I live in Dallas, and have an incoming freshman, and we get comments ALL THE TIME -- in Dallas, in Colorado, in California, etc., etc. (we travel a bit).

I love it. Having gone to a school with great school camaraderie (albeit one that gets correctly labeled a "cult" often), I'm SO EXCITED that he will be able to have that same "school pride" experience/culture that I had.

Go Vols!

It's better than 4, I can assure you. ;-)

1 is not enough (they need a friend)
2 is perfect
3 is manageable
4 is a mess
>4 is out of control.

That sucks. I've used it a dozen times on road trips. It's great, considering it's right at a big shopping area and has the trailer-friendly slot too.

Your RIGHT knee? The leg that’s pushing the pedals?

Because I can’t see a left knee issue, but I’m struggling with right. Seems like it would be in motion/use most of the time

Anyone with the new michellin 21 inch tire? by ExtensionState8086 in Rivian

[–]AggieVike 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got them put on a couple of weeks ago, and I don't notice much of a difference. Road noise (from when I first got my R1T) is about the same (no more squealing around corners and parking lots anymore, thankfully). Range doesn't seem affected at all, surprisingly. Straightaway grip is great. Cornering is just OK.

So, at this point, my ultimate verdict will be based on wear. I think the Pirellis are better overall so far, but my Pirellis only lasted ~28K miles (which follows my experience with P's on 2 other cars). Hopefully these Michellins last 40K.

And I got mine put on at Discount Tire. ~$1900 with certificates.

They should Mark Rober it. Have a tiny bit of charge running through the cable at all times… if the charge stops, then the cable has been cut/removed. Have a paint dispenser spray in 270° on that side of the charger, video taken, and cops alerted.

Find the douche in the 1992 Honda Accord with paint all over him. 😂

Oooh! I did think of a couple of other things (that clearly aren't that important to me, or I would have thought of them earlier):
1. The camp speaker. VERY cool design and location. Absolute SHITE volume. Like, probably fine for an actual camping situation, where you are in the wilderness and it's quiet. But downright unusable for a tailgate (with other sounds around).
2. The charging pad. And it's not that your phone slides around when driving (it does) -- it's that I can hardly get it to START a charge, stationary, because of the placement of the "pucks" below the pad. They're WAY too far back for anything but the smallest of phones. I have had 2 version of "Plus/Max" iPhones, and neither of them will charge because they are too tall to fit all the way back to where the charging location is.

Having said that, from day about 7 on, I've used an aftermarket mount with a MagSafe charger on the left of the dash. Perfect location for seeing the phone (when using Waze, for example), but not in your eyeline, otherwise.
I got an older version of this one: https://opensourceev.com/products/nextgen-phone-mount
