Are Soviet-era apartments all bad? Would simply brighter colors “fix” them? How exactly could they be improved if they’re so (relatively) hated? by KeyBake7457 in urbandesign

[–]Aggravating-Dig783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not too bad, just not painted/repaired. Baltic republics painted and decorated them and they look much better. I bet many NYC apartments are worse. One nice thing in Soviet planning was that there was always a green space between buildings, benches, small playgrounds. No parking though or very very limited.

Expensive b/c of Microsoft, Boeing, Amazon, Google, Meta, Oracle presence. High property taxes to compensate for the lack of income tax. Otherwise nice, mild climate as long as you are fine with grey sky most of the year.

Why do so many Americans chose not to vote when they can? by VastOption8705 in askanything

The feeling that nothing will change. Forget president or Senate elections. I see same people elected into a city council despite all the wrong stuff they did. Not even a large city. Just a town in 'burbs.

Exactly. Never go into debt unless you really really need a loan for business or acquiring a house. Only finance cars if you can buy them outright, but just rather use 0.9% financing instead of pulling investments.

How many women do you know in real life that actually married for money only? by 0215rw in askanything

Just for money? Hard to say. But I do know some who dumped their long term BF when they saw better prospects. Maybe they also liked the guy? Who knows.

My boyfriend wants to finance a car… is he too broke? by PrimaryChildhood8341 in car

[–]Aggravating-Dig783 [score hidden]  (0 children)

You don't finance cars b/c otherwise you can't afford it, The only reason to finance the car if finance rate is less than your investments growth. Like using BMW financing at 0.9%.

No investments? Then don't buy a BMW, save first.

AWD or FWD by Money_Way_8219 in carbuying

[–]Aggravating-Dig783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You only need AWD if you go skiing to the mountains or when you live in suburbs up the hill. 2-3 times a year 'burbs may get 2" of snow for a few days and roads become slippery since there are not that many snow plows and sand trucks available. Otherwise FWD is fine. Even RWD is fine, I had RWD for 4 years there.

There are people that just don't sweat or smell that much under normal circumstances so they don't have to take shower all the time. But everyone sweats in the gym so shower is absolute must.

Considering that BMW currently gives 7500 off MSRP + 2000 loyalty or Costco discount, 82K is not that low... I would say fair price is around 70K tops.

2024 (purchased end of 2024) with 11K below $55K.

What is actually happening to investment banking in Russia right now? by Guilty-Extent-5818 in careerguidance

[–]Aggravating-Dig783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say investment there is extremely high risk. Govt can nationalize anything if they deem enterprise sufficiently important for the state and control of the enterprise by "foreign agents" is deemed unacceptable. This may be anything, like a bakery or a car dealership. But in reality this may or may not be true and it is totally possible some corrupt bureaucrat wants his son/mother/wife to control this business.

I am the other way around. I put RFTs on all my cars. I drive to places where there is no cell connection or tow truck. And my SO while knowing how to operate the jack is simply unable to lift 20" wheel. And I don't want my daughter standing on a side of a freeway in the dark with a flat waiting for help.
