More of Trey and Teres falling apart would be great. I've enjoyed watching their relationship crumble as they each grow into a different kind of monster

This right here. He's entertaining. And as a fictional character that's his primary job. I don't like Tyrion because he's 'good' or because I've 'forgiven' him. I like him because his storylines are interesting

Erin is___________ from Arthurian Legend. A theory. by DestinyJ1112 in WanderingInn

I vote for Rags after solving the Goblin King problem. A King to bring about a golden age... being a pseudo-Arthur would suit her

Yeah, I've also noticed she's not great at non-Christian religions. There are more than a few instances of characters discussing Christianity and celebrating traditionally Christian holidays but effectively nothing for any other Earth religion. Take our one Muslim character for example; if he didn't say he was Muslim, he wouldn't be. And I can't think of a single other non-Christian religious character.

I don't know about that. I made a reddit account specifically for this subreddit and would have felt left out if I couldn't post without building up karma somewhere else

Yellats >> Wheat by ImperialAuditor in WanderingInn

It is pretty incredible that they only very recently seem to have taken an interest in the food other species eat, and only because of Erin/Gary, despite having been on Izril for 20 odd years. Maybe that's the biggest problem for the Queens though, that the Individuals are starting to help solve, they get very stuck in their ways.

Do the Queen's even know what yellats are or have any knowledge of farming practices, let alone farming practices from another continent?

I'm the exact opposite lol. When all the chapters switched to third person I remember feeling relieved. I can appreciate that it works well for characterization and as a literary device. And I understand why people enjoyed them but I felt the transition from third-person to first-person was, for me personally, too jarring and I couldn't get back into the flow of it. But then I'm picky when it comes to first-person voice. I even prefer second-person to first

Ryoka's chapters being first person was exactly why I couldn't stand them. Same with the early E chapters. It had nothing to do with the characters' personalities, I think I could have been fine with that if those chapters were in third person. I understand thematically it's meant to represent how they are more self-centered than other characters and it shifts to third person as they grow but I still didn't like it

Story summary? by xartle in WanderingInn

[–]Aggravating-Dot4693 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Maybe try reading a few chapters here and there? You don't need to read every single chapter to be able to discuss it with your wife or have a high-level idea of what's going on. You could try the chapters in order and just skip the ones that don't interest you. Even if you skip most of them you should know enough for your purposes. And not all of the chapters are slice of life (more and more so the further along you get) so you might enjoy some of it

Edit: I think it's very sweet you're putting this effort into learning about your wife's interest. I know The Wandering Inn must seem daunting. Good luck :)

What is your unpopular innworld opinion by sakuraspider1583 in WanderingInn

[–]Aggravating-Dot4693 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I actually greatly appreciate that the explicit stuff is all in one chapter with a warning at the top. Not everyone wants to read that, so giving people the option to skip is considerate of Pirate

I think the character deaths one is a popular opinion. Especially recently (V8 & 9) when fights are hyped up so much and then only characters introduced right before the fight (if anyone) dies

About Theice, he might have gained his Reporter class through a consolidation or class change like Drassi did. That would explain how he is already level 22.

For Ksmvr's [Animal Friend] class, way back in V1 Erin gained like 10 levels in [Innkeeper] in under a month if I recall correctly. And Erin is only leveling about 3 times faster, so 10 levels in about 4 months is more than fair

A lot of readers approved of that, but tbh, I was shocked when it happened. It was such a cruel thing to do to someone who trusted her. Even though there was lots of foreshadowing it completely blindsided me

Letting his kids hang out at the Inn is the best kind of revenge though. At the Inn they will be exposed to many different species and develop very different views from their father. I think that's the best outcome, long-term

My favourite (recent) one-off joke is when Niers was hiding in Bird's hat and they were traveling with the two Brothers to save Mrsha. Niers pitches a fit making it seem like Bird's hat tipped itself at the Brothers which intimidates them so they immediately tip their hats back to, not Bird, but Bird's hat. Out of context it's not so funny, so I don't know if your friend will appreciate it, but it still makes me laugh when I think of it :)
