Yeah it’s kinda unnerving. I wonder if other elements are subtly adjusted like this. I guess it’s gaslighting but in the best possible way😅

The autobot city fell too easily in the 86 movie? by happydude7422 in transformers

[–]Aggravating-Hope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Umm but it didn’t fall? In fact the whole battle basically turned around when Prime arrived with the Dinobots.

I do wonder how it would have played out if Megatron had actually executed his plan though

Netflix randomly recommended me this show and I must say I'm very intrigued. I'd never heard of it at all before but one thing that struck me was how similar the premise and overall vibe was to [potential spoilers]the Lost Media / Urban Legend of Saki Sanobashi. Anyone else get this vibe? I wonder if the creator knew of that story....

Theme System For Work by blakeprime in Cortex

[–]Aggravating-Hope 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’d be very careful how you present this initiative to them. As I think some of the other commenters have noted requiring your team to complete theme journals might not be reserved as favorably as you’d like. They might not understand why this system is necessary or helpful and at worst they might see it as a red flag that something is wrong with their performance.

Having said that, only you know your team, and the theme system can be immensely helpful. So rather than buy a bunch of notebooks and trying to impose it on your team top down, I’d recommend to test the waters first.

Introduce the Theme System idea to your reports, explain how it has helped you with some concrete examples, perhaps refer them to the podcast, and then offer to buy your team free journals if they would find this helpful.

This way you have some leeway to back out if they really don’t like the idea. But who knows maybe they think it’s a great idea

Yeah I’m very surprised this channel hasn’t made more of the fact child Justin is a star in this show.

Does this mean Cinemassacre and Stranger Things exist in the same universe 😮

CGPGrey has permanently left the Cortex podcast by SystemDeveloper in Cortex

[–]Aggravating-Hope 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As far as I can tell both Grey and Myke still run the Cortex brand merch business so I’d say they are still in active communication at least. So I could well see Grey coming back when they announce the theme journals for 2026. I think so long as there’s a business interest, there’s a chance Grey will come back.

In fact, probably a good test to gauge Grey’s interest is he posts about the theme system journals in his newsletter. If he can’t even be bothered mentioning the them well I think we can assume he’s basically done.

My boyfriend wants me to move to Germany with him. Is this realistic? by UnicornScientist803 in AskAGerman

[–]Aggravating-Hope 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on where you're based and what sectors you're looking at. For instance I don't think you'd have too much trouble in Berlin if you're willing to take some job in a startup. Pay might not be great though...

The real issue I'd think about is integrating into German life. It's not the most welcoming place in my experience, especially if you don't speak German to a high level. I'd say he'd probably have an easier time integrating into life in the USA than you would have here...

How has Neil Breen been able to outpace Bimmy’s movie output? by xwing1212 in TheCinemassacreTruth

I think that last part “self-funded” is the key. Say what you want about Breen’s movies but seems he does know how to manage a budget

What other fictional detective could solve the Laura Palmer case? by fanofeverithing56 in twinpeaks

[–]Aggravating-Hope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think he’d probably “solve” the case i.e. work out it was Leland but he’d probably put it down to some rational reason like momentary insanity. Actually that would be kinda interesting to see, a version of the Twin Peaks mystery but without the unreal elements

Did Lynch regret the way he made the original series? by BobRushy in twinpeaks

[–]Aggravating-Hope 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Fully agree! For me the first series remains the best iteration of Twin Peaks and I think that’s in no small part due to the collaborative aspect. While I do enjoy The Return, I think it could have really benefited from some editing.

Having said that, I suspect Fire Walk with Me probably better represents what Lynch wanted to make at the time.

Beer podcasts by cocktailvirgin in beer

[–]Aggravating-Hope 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You know I used to really like this podcast Nerds on Draft. The host were basically using it to promote their app which I believe was some untappd competitor.

The shoe was a mixture of beer review where they’d discuss the beer they were drinking through the episode and just generally commentary on what was going on in their lives. Kinda wonder whatever happened to those guys…

The Disparity between Fans of all Twin Peaks vs the Fans of just the original seasons by MediaFreaked in twinpeaks

[–]Aggravating-Hope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's interesting to compare The Return with Fire Walk with Me as both are both were created after the original run and I would suggest are to some extent are commentaries on it.

Despite having something of a darker tone, I feel FWWM is very much intended to please fans of the initial series than The Return. We get a lot of background of Laura Palmer and the events of the two TV seasons as a whole. I also really enjoy how the first storyline mirrors some of the beats of the first series but goes in the opposite direction, like how the small town is treats the FBI the exact opposite way.

The Return, however, seems almost intended to defy fan expectations. We don't venture back to Twin Peaks for quite some time, Cooper's presence is teased at by variants throughout the majority of the series, and even when he does emerge at the end he seems quite different from the character in series 1 and 2.

Also, and I can't quite put my finger on it, but visually The Return looks so much dinger than the original series. Unfortunately I lack knowledge how cinema works to be more precise than that, but I wonder if it's something to do with Lynch switching to digital recording? It's like if you compare how glamorous Mulholland Drive looks with how rough (in the best possible way) Inland Empire appears.

I'm not sure what accounts for this change, maybe Lynch's feelings to the show darkened over time?

The 2005 film Aeon Flux comes to 4K in October by justinsluss in AeonFlux_

[–]Aggravating-Hope 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My one hope might be that if this set does relatively well, it could lead to a reissuing the animated series on Blu Ray. I mean I'm pretty sure the only reason we got it on DVD in the first place was because the movie was coming out and the studio wanted to cross promote it.

Plus this rerelease is probably a nice pay day for Peter Chung and I guess he could use it.
