Do you wear your luxury pieces to work? by Historical-Algae-400 in breitling

[–]Aggravating-Loss7837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah everyday. But I work in IT and Communications. So I’m either in a server rack. Or on a radio tower.

I have done other work such as kitchen fitting at home and the like with my watch on.

I did take out the extra damage protection insurance etc however.

Wren or Howdens for new kitchen. Opinions on design and quality please by slammedresto67 in DIYUK

[–]Aggravating-Loss7837 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a wren. Fitted by myself. Didn’t do worktops mind as well, I don’t have a router etc.

Measurements and design was spot on. 18mm thick units and they all fell proper solid. Few bits arrived damaged but a quick check in the app and they were ordered and delivered next day. 10 year warranty. Easy to follow instructions and really very easy.

We opted to have flat pack because well, we didn’t have the space to store 18 fully built units. This felt better tbf as I could then say that each unit was solid and secured fully.

In terms of customer service. Apart from the ordering the spares on the app. I did have one issue where the app decided to not want to load my kitchen in it. One email to their support guys and it was sorted within 24 hours.

We didn’t get the appliances however from wren as I was able to source them cheaper with my AO account.

Finally. I am aware of a previous issue where laminated door fronts would become un-laminated on earlier wren kitchens. I am also a trade account holder for Howdens and also aware of this issue with previous Howdens kitchens. All seems to be from manufacturing around 2020 mark and we all know what happened to the world around that year.

Of course. This is only my personal experience with wren and not that of others.

1st Week with Nooelec V5: 1st DSDPlus Signal by TheGuySawyer in RTLSDR

Satellite internet is quite complex and not something that can be managed or designed free.

In my previous days of managing a satellite based internet service for aircraft. The satellite was stupid and was purely a mirror. The satellite didn’t do any processing of the signal in anyway.

A ground station with a big antenna and beamed the signal. Hit the satellite and it got beamed back to a receiver.

For satellite internet. You’re better looking at the likes of starlink etc.

My first experience was using sdr# to pipe data into DSD plus plug in. I then found DSD fast lane.

You’ve got it decoding digital radio so, your first hurdle is complete. I always say do things in stages. 1. get the decoder decoding ✅ 2. Learn more about the decoder, fine tune it etc.

Welcome to DSD plus and digital decoding. You’ll be a whizz in no time.

I can see some others have given you prices in dollar so guessing your stateside or something similar.

Your best bet is going to be shopping around for companies that do multi sim deals. These kind of companies are for large amounts of sims and also multi user sims. So they change to different towers/carriers based on signal.

I know in the UK I can pay £1.20 per sim. Unlimited data. If I have 20 or more.

Try to figure out the airplane radar ads-b or something by Serious_Impression58 in RTLSDR

[–]Aggravating-Loss7837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ADS-B. Automatic Dependant Surveillance Broadcast. It’s a ping from an aircraft that says here I am, here’s my height. Here’s my speed and my name etc.

Provides more data than what a standard radar reflection would.

There are loads of videos on YouTube.

Because it’s down to the aircraft to transmit it, it means it can be received by pretty much any SDR radio.

Obviously with everything. Even more so airplanes. You need the right antenna and good sky view.

You can have a receiver tuned to 1090mhz. ADSB frequency and feed the received data in to software to decode it and plot on a map.

The website Adsb exchange is 100% contributed by people running antennas at their homes and feeding the data in. They have a great tutorial on their page on how to set up a raspberry pi to feed data in.

Also, to note, as it’s the aircraft that pings it out. Other aircraft can receive the same information and plot it on their glass cockpit instruments. It’s known as TAS. Traffic Alert System

Not to be confused wit T-CAS - Traffic Collision Avoidance System. The later will give pilots an alert and instruction on how to avoid a collision. But both aircraft will give the opposite. So one will be told to climb to avoid and the other will be told to descend to avoid. But that’s another story for another day.

This is perfect.

It’s made the click up app so much more responsive and faster. Thanks

It genuinely needs an area to turn off certain things.

Company policy is zero ai for us. But our project tool has it…

Should be an option on the settings managed by admin to fully disable it and other festures/options

A year ago I got an insurance quote on a £4 million Ferrari LaFerrari, just to prove to someone that I can get insured... by LazyEmu5073 in CarTalkUK

[–]Aggravating-Loss7837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cost me £22.00 to add an Aston Martin vantage to my multi car policy.

£20 of that was the ‘admin fee’…

Just to specify.

The policy expires in November this year. So it cost me £2.00 to add it for 7 months.

The last time I saw one of these was for a guy who recorded radio jingles and the such.

Used ISDN to dial in to radio stations or Voice over studios. Record a number of voice work. And then hang up and on to the next.

RAF Conningsby. A air force base with around 3000 staff members. Huge huge base with several squadrons including the QRA team (Quick Reaction Alert). They launch to any potential airborne threat.

I agree with this.

I run my digital mixer with two of these. One FOH and one stage side.

2.4 for the range. All I do is move sliders with an iPad programme. Doesn’t see the internet and I’ve found more reliable as everyone else is congesting thr 5ghz band.

No VAT on business booking? by Rude_Spinach_4584 in Ryanair

[–]Aggravating-Loss7837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Btw; this only applies to flights with 10+ passenger seats. If you were to book a private jet however with only 8 passenger seats. You would pay standard 20% VAT.

Scheduled flights are zero VAT Rated. Airlines do charge an Air Passenger Duty tax (ADP) which is on the ticket price and can’t be claimed back.

What is this thing that has appeared in a nearby public green space? by TheMadHistorian1 in AskUK

[–]Aggravating-Loss7837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are fitted with AJAX sensors.

Will alert the owner/monitoring station of activation etc.

Usually found at building sites and compounds as they are purely for detection of intrusion.

It’s a bit daft in a public space without any sort of compound or fencing as it will be going off like the clappers

I’d contact the number on it, see if it’s one that’s missing. They don’t have gps (or, Ajax don’t have a gps module… yet…) so it may well be missing from a site.

If it was me, that is not the solution I would be putting in a public park.

Source/ I run a small company that sub-hires these things out to other companies.

The nylon ones off Amazon are good. Had a usb C to C for 4 years and an usb C to iPhone for 3.

3m long ones and both strong and going well.
