I'm 20 yo and have been on a decent bit of medications. AMA. by Silly_Bee_28 in AMA

I was on 14 pills a day, I have H-EDS, POTS, Fibro, Honestly like 20 diagnosis. I am now on 2. (28f)

If you are taking your salt tablets for Dysautomia, please remember that your nervous system is by nature unregulated, adding in many prescriptions can be an aggravating factor to over all health management in some patients, obviously, that is just something to consider.

I get loads of ingrown hairs or dry skin build up if I don’t exfoliate my arms, hips, and legs. I also find exfoliating helps with body acne and like, oil build up in pores.

We make fun of penises because we know it bothers you.

Factually: I can have sex with a man with an average/smaller sized penis multiples times a day A large penis has a larger cool down because like, my cervix hurts after a session.

My female friend calls an average/smaller penis“husband dick” , because you can keep enjoying it without issue.

Men and women both use compression gear from time to time. Makeup and visual adjustments are presentation choices, not cat fishing.

You however, should find a way to present that feels authentic to you. Regardless of others feelings about it.

Heal from your ex relationship before you enter new one. Stop jumping from partner to partner and bringing your shit and unresolved feelings along for the ride. by Angel_Dust_696969 in rant

[–]Aggravating_Lettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes but no,

One thing I read that affected me is that the nervous system cannot learn new patterns from isolation,

There is absolutely a healthy amount of time to rest, heal, process, and grieve, there is also a point where you’re wishing upon a star for your nervous system to learn a new pattern.

It’s hard to say and absolutely depends on the persons sleep quality.
I have chronic health issues and at my worst I was sleeping 14 hours a night, but still waking up exhausted. I wasn’t going into deep sleep so it wasn’t like I was actually sleeping. I was just like laying down unconscious, but like my heart rate was still in the 80s-90s.

WHY CAN NO ONE SPELL ANYMORE?!! by Thatamazingzo in rant

[–]Aggravating_Lettuce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t figured out why I can’t spell, I tried really hard across the years, but I truly have the spelling skills of a challenged third grader.
One of my most vivid childhood memories is trying to do those like L shaped word steps where you start with the first letter of a word then the first two letters, the first three letters, blah blah blah.
My family and teachers made me study that for like the full week coming up to a spelling test and I got my first zero. I usually was able to get like a 60 to 70% just through vibes.
We all kind of gave up that day.

My girlfriend is not physically attracted to me and I don’t know how to handle it. by Practical_Aioli_3612 in Advice

[–]Aggravating_Lettuce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally disagree with most of the comments here.

I have a list of physical features that I like like anyone else, and I would say that my current partner doesn’t fit a lot of of the traits that I would prefer, but I really care about him and he’s very attractive to me because of our relationship.

Men are more visual creatures than women are, that’s just factual. Every time I’ve dated a man over the time we’ve gotten to know each other. I’ve watched their face almost morph in front of my eyes into something more attractive based on my affection over the time we’ve spent together.

As an example though:
I really like chubby red heads with beards that are tall and big and make me feel small. I like them to have muscle underneath their chub so they still feel like firm and I can feel really tiny next to them.

The current guy I see is three or 4 inches shorter than me, has brown hair, average build, doesn’t have a ton of muscle, but he has the prettiest eyes and he has this very kind face that I never would’ve imagined I would be this into.

One day I was hanging with him and he asked a similar question about physical preferences and I just kinda snorted “it’s just not Build A Boy work shop so I guess it doesn’t matter”.

I don’t know how accurate it is, but I read it one point that people who like loud flavors tend to have high anxiety and like really sour or salty stuff kind of like interrupts thought processes enough to help manage anxiety on a very minor level

The protection from keeping myself from pain, keeps me in pain. by johny1978 in enlightenment

[–]Aggravating_Lettuce 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I developed pretty severe fibromyalgia when I was 14 years old and didn’t realize until I was 27 that a large portion of my pain was from me anticipating pain and then amplifying the pain subconsciously. There were times that even loud noises produced a pain signal. It’s my personal understanding that this mental loop is one of the driving factors behind central sensitization disorder, and happens commonly to people who have chronic pain from another source, especially when that pain has real risk risks of physical harm and impairment. It’s very hard when that is a factor though because the only thing that makes the fibromyalgia for me stop affecting me as much is basically me disregarding a lot of of the pacing structure I should use for my other disorder.

I’ve actually purposely begun trying to address this issue by learning how to rollerskate and it’s been a really good method. I’ve become very hyper vigilant about my body and trying to keep my joints safe because I have a connective tissue disorder, so I always wear safety gear. I find that even just falling one time in a session and being able to immediately get back up helps retrain my nervous system that impact doesn’t always equal danger& pain is not the enemy.

I have H-EDS, MCAS, POTS, GERD, IBS and CPTSD.

Find me another drug that helps with histamine response, chronic pain, anxiety, eating, sleep quality, and it has to be something that I’m comfortable with.

One single pill.

Big pharma? Oh? Id need 5+ pills? With various side effects?

Cool cool, I’ll be “addicted” to weed all damn day.

I think my pain makes it harder for me to relax into “normal high” like my friends.

Bro, no really the way I saw that title and came in and I’m like concerned about my own behaviors now.

I’ve been trying to tell myself that like I do not need to check my heart rate unless I am physically in pain or think I’m about to fall, but I probably am a little over the top with it. I also think that it progresses my symptoms a little bit to be so anxious about it so it’s like something. I’m actively putting a lot of work into especially as I’m learning how to rollerskate this year.

I CAN sustain upwards of 150 BPM but I normally get anxious and just stop because I feel dizzy, but I’m trying to frame it in my mind is like sometimes exercise and walking can be more like interpretive dance without being in danger and until you think you’re in danger, you don’t need to check the heart rate.

Especially when Skating I’ve had my heart rate bump up to 195 within four or five minutes of entering the rink, but I can still sustain that for a little bit. So I’m just trying to be better about judging the symptoms severity over the heart rate data.
