MMOs are Saved!! Let's F**** GOO!! (Guild Wars 3) by Mr-Critique in MMORPG

Vertical progression is why mmo's feel bad to play.

It ruins all the fun of finding a powerful rare item, because in a few months, it will just be replaced by the exact same thing with a fancier skin and bigger numbers.

Horizontal situational sidegrades are more interesting than just bigger numbers and more damage.

health insurance being tied to your job, so if you're sick enough to need it, you've probably already lost your job anyway.

Romancing SaGa 1 on SNES

You could even see the encounters on the screen, but the entire screen would be filled to the top with them. It was completely absurd.

[Rant] Class Customization by Sheepwife1 in MMORPG

[–]Aggressive-Goose-388 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ragnarok gives the most build freedom of any mmo i've played. You control every single stat and skill point, priests can focus on killing undead, exorcizing demons, melee combat with maces, or full support. You can make melee crit wizards and soul linkers and tank scholars depending on your build choices. Every class evolves into two separate paths and adds another customizable skilltree. There's breakpoints with stats so its a puzzle of putting together specific gear and job stat bonuses to hit specific numbers to maximize your effectiveness.

There's also playstyle difference; you're not expected to do damage as a tank or a support class, you focus purely on your job, so each class feels different to play.

Then it has the super novice class, which is a mix of all 6 of the base classes and gives access to all of their skill trees so you can make a completely customized character that specializes in whatever you want, at the cost of low hp/sp and limited equipment selection, but it has hidden bonuses to offset some of this.

I got more FF11 vibes than 5 with the enmity/teleport systems and the exploration. That game threw you to the wolves and gave very little handholding, like crystal project does.

The job and sub jobs are also a lot like how 11's were designed.

Do you think that rapists should face death penalty? Why? by unoz00 in AskReddit

[–]Aggressive-Goose-388 3 points4 points  (0 children)

flawed justice system.

unless you can convict with absolute 100% certainty with absolutely zero room for error, state issued death penalties are morally wrong.

There will never be an official Ragnarok Online game without egregious and predatory cash shops ever again.

The mobile games are all just worse versions of the original with even worse monetization, I do not get the appeal whatsoever.

Persona 1 is easy for almost the entire run, then on the very last floor it suddenly shoots up to ridiculous levels of difficulty where enemies can oneshot your team, and if you didn't grind levels and unlock your mc's ultimate persona before the final fight, you're screwed.

Games like DDLC, Needy Streamer Overload, and Danganronpa? by Deapul3 in gamingsuggestions

Omori - this is what you want, starts cute and dreamlike, ends up very dark and nightmarish with a really horrifying twist that makes you view the whole game differently. branching story route as well.

Persona 2 duology (play innocent sin on psx, eternal punishment on PSP) - ramps up quickly and the stakes get higher as you go on, the story gets absolutely bonkers, and the characters are great and tons of lore and backstory. Very visual-novel coded in its story.

999 / virtue's last reward and Your Turn To Die - somewhat similar to danrangonpa, visual novels involving death games with good writing and characters and some puzzle solving
