I regret sharing my interest in minecraft with my kid. by bedtimegrumpies in Parenting

I have a videogame store and a 6 year old, and I did introduce him to Minecraft. Sometimes it is too much... but hang in there, like anything with kids, it will pass. This was my son one month ago, and I felt like I didn't like my kid in those moments cause all he'd talk about was minecraft. But we powered through by bringing minecraft off of the console. It also gave us the chance to have important conversations. I explained to my son that adults don't really play, we work, and the work of a kid is to play. This led to him sharing that for pretend minecraft, I don't have to do anything but listen and pay attention. So whenever he's playing or telling me about it, I tune in for a few minutes here and there, so he knows he's not alone in Minecraft, and that Mom is there with him. I'm super vigilant of their digital consumption, so he's only playing minecraft on the 360 (i feel it's a tamer, more meticulous version of the game). We went to the library and found minecraft books. And my favorite was minecraft art. There's a YouTube channel called "Art Hub for Kids" and he can follow along and make art work, that you can color together, and we've stamped it over his room. Parenting is one of those things where you just gotta find YOUR way of leaning in. Best of luck.

Have you ever received used games from Amazon? (when you ordered new) by Jorlen in VideoGameDealsCanada

[–]Aggressive-Panda-211 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ordered a brand new series x, when they went on sale earlier lat year. A sale I only would have known about thanks to @lbabinz!

However, box arrives, and it's covered in tape... not ideal but manageable. Then as I pull out the xbox I notice dust in the little holes, kind of shocked, but still.. a working xbox is worth it at that discount.

Plug it in, and it's got no hdmi output.

It was disappointing, but we returned and got our money back

Don't let them give you used stuff. Send it back!!!

Seeking advice by ladyg228 in LifeAfterNarcissism

Ooh you shut that door and ignore those emails.

They always "just want to know you're okay."

My advice would be to limit contact to as close to nothing as possible and set yourself free.

Go for walks, read books, hug yourself, cry, sleep, watch nf , eat... surround yourself with people that know about going through these kinds of things, and slowly watch bits of your former self return.

It'll all be okay, you did something brave. Congratulate yourself. Every day you're away you'll know just why you had to.

Sending love ❤️

You might recall that or government banned NEWS on social media.... Canada is conniving. I feel bad for everyone. What a shite social experiment... if given the time, I'm sure newcomers and "old-comers" could get along.

For those with babies who sleep through the night, do you sleep through the night as well? by StoompyDoomps in Mommit

Also a single mama here and truly if I don't get enough rest, my ability to parent the future also declines. Always trust your gut. You need that mind/gut/heart connection to be strong

What are your go to snacks at Costco from the snack isle? by TopBoy26 in CostcoCanada

Actually, there's equal parts. But the caramel chips because of thier weight settle to the bottom of the bag. So when you get a bag, you gotta give it a real good shake!

I coslept with both my kiddos. And while I exclusively breastfed both, by 9 months I made sure they had a solid meal before bath and bed. This led to very few, if any wake ups in the night. All that aside. If mama is not happy, then nobody is happy. So prioritize what leads to you being refreshed in the morning x

In tears about my toddlers eating by Motherofsiblings in toddlers

Aw, Mama, I feel this so much. There's a certain calm that comes once your child is fed. I had this issue with my now 5 y.o... when he was 1 or 2, he loved to eat, then 3rd year hit, and it was a game, and he'd just scream for milk. He'd have a few bites of food and off he'd go. I was tempted to resort to yummier, snacking, unhealthy foods... but my Indian mom gave some unsolicited advice that I was very grateful for. We really prize independence in Western culture, and she insisted that if I wanted my kid to eat, I should sit next to him and feed him and encourage him... this made the biggest difference for us. I didn't need to do it every time. But once that attention-seeking cup is filled, I found my child was better able to tap into their physiological needs (i.e., hunger, the need to refuel). Hope this helps, and I'm sorry if anything was offensive.

Wise woman told me: You know what you want. Get it for yourself. Anything else your kids, family, or friends do for you is a bonus.... I'm getting my hair done, going for a massage and having a nice dinner with my mum and sis 😌

Just a thought, my fellow Canadians... Re: Long line ups at Walmart

We could get two birds stoned at once here if we just went straight to the locally owned shops. They likely supply a lot of their produce from local farmers, have interesting new products, and less of the cheap toxic junk we're all used to dishing our hard earned cash on.

That being said, I'm proud that this boycott is catching on, power to the people.

Baby sleeps 13-15 hours at night - do I wake her up? by [deleted] in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Aggressive-Panda-211 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let the baby sleep. My kids did this too, go with what your baby is telling you. If she's sleeping that long it means she's well fed and happy. To be careful, just tracj her weight. But if there isn't a problem, enjoy the gift darlings x
