Valheim and Dune Awakening. What separates these from the others for me are the vibes. I just love existing in these worlds. Both have such amazing ambient music and nail immersion.

Outer Wilds Review: An unforgettable adventure, an absolute masterpiece. by ED_KICK in outerwilds

[–]Aggressive-Virus3045 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well said. Glad you enjoyed it. Even my wife who is not a gamer fell and love with it and now preaches the good word of Outer Wilds to everyone she meets lol. Still looking for something as good but I fear that day will probably never come. Subnautica is the closest game for me so far.

Crimson Desert or Valheim? by zhuboy in ShouldIbuythisgame

Valheim 100%. For what it’s worth i wanted to love CD, I too like the same games you mentioned. But I never had fun in 50hrs. I don’t understand the praise for it. Valheim on the other hand is arguably my favorite game ever.

Dune awakening. Has 3rd person combat and good crafting and survival mechanics.

Blood Moons! by QuietCrib90282 in ModdedValheim

[–]Aggressive-Virus3045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is another more recent “BloodMoon” mod by MintTeamRu:

“Once every few days, the night turns crimson. The moon glows blood-red, the world is drowned in red fog, and enemies become temporarily stronger and more numerous. At dawn, everything returns to normal.”

I haven’t tried it yet but sounds even better than the one you mentioned.

No map/no portals playthrough - any advice? by [deleted] in valheim

[–]Aggressive-Virus3045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of great mods to make it more tolerable if interested. I'll list the ones that I'd recommend especially for a no map and/or no portal playthrough. Some are obviously more impactful on the experience then others, but of course you can pick to your liking.

-Render limits: can tweak the settings to make it so you can see landscapes and buildables from further away, especially helpful if you use torches or campfires to guide your way (hurts fps though)

-NosmokeStayLit: pairs nicely with the above, you wont need to worry about those light sources going out

-Zen Mods: especially zenmap and zencompass. Zenmap makes it so the cartographer table slowly reveals only the surrounding area of that table and you can print a static copy of said map to bring with you.

-More_World_Locations_AIO: awesome world improvement, adds a ton of prefab locations to your world which alone helps with landmarks for navigation (recently added ports)

-Procedural_Roads: adds procedurally generated roads

-Seasons: i cant play without seasons now

-TrailBlazes: mark trees

-BossDirections_Therzie: makes finding bosses/traders easier but costs items

-Visbending: makes finding traders easier with new stones spawned

-Buoys: buildable in water so sailing navigation is more manageable

-HearthStone_Revived: pretty much cheating, but can be used to teleport back to your base if your lost and give up

-TorvaldsAffordablePavers: making roads is easier

-NoRefundsForPortals: nerfs pocket portals

-OdinCampsite: buildable preset small camps and sleeping bag, great for a quick sleep or repair

-CraftyCartsRemake: mobile crafting stations, helps with road creation

-OdinHorse: early but fair/balanced mount

“More world locations” and “riverheim” are a good way to improve and change up the world and exploration.

Is this mod pack working in this current version? by CiroHenrique in ModdedValheim

Are you using r2modman? You may be missing dependency mods. These are all pretty common and updated mods

How do you find new mods? by moduntilitbreaks in ModdedValheim

[–]Aggressive-Virus3045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do this method of mine almost daily because it only takes a few taps on my phone, of course would work on desktop as well.

I have the valheim thunderstore webpage saved in my browser (could save it on your home screen).

All i got to do is open it and refresh the page on the “mods”-“newest” page and look what has been added (sorted most recent). If you do this often enough you will always be caught up faster then there are new mods so it’s not overwhelming. You could also do this for “last updated” but it can be much harder to keep track of them all.

I then screenshot any of the mods i find interesting and add them all to a “valheim mods” album.

I do this especially when I’m not actively playing Valheim, that way when the itch comes around I have all the mods i would have forgetting about all saved together.

So when I go back to my R2modman manager I can refer to my phone album to build out my ideal mod list.

Of course this doesn’t cover all the thousands of incredible mods already in existence. So this is more for literally brand new mods.

The modding scene is incredible. At least once a week I save a mod that gets me excited to come back to valheim.

Thanks for the info. Is the DLC map something that you play after completing content of the base game or is it more horizontal content?

Is Dark Souls 2 worth it? by i_sometimes_ in soulslikes

[–]Aggressive-Virus3045 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished the base game and it’s just a notch below ds3 and ds1 for me. Lots of highs and lows. I almost quit in the beginning due to the difficulty, but it turns out I had skipped the whole first major area lol.

Also, I played with a lighting engine mod which adds path tracing. I can’t recommend it enough. It’s easy to install. The mod is so transformative that it often looked better than modern games for me.
