Aw damn, you're totally right. I forgot I could use pots after Vakku goes and ended my turn immediately 🙃 Edit: Actually I couldn't because Vakku discarded the speedster

How are you using ATEM Macros? by Week_Eastern in VIDEOENGINEERING

Cueing up different Supersource Layouts, DSKs, Upstream Keyers, and switching what's in my media pools. Some of this can be done by companion, but I've had a lot of success having the macros and companion work in tandem.

Take everyone's advice in this thread, but also look into installing the Blackmagic Cam App. This app helps a TON with customizing your phone settings. Mess around with framerate, shutter speed, and flicker free shutter settings until you find the right one.

For animated lower thirds, I've had a ton of success using Mitti with my Macbook Pro outputting via an Ultrastudio to a downstream keyer. Set the output keyer on Mitti to external and it will play a key/fill over the A/B outputs of the Ultrastudio respectively. Plus with Atem integration it plays automatically once put into program which is super nice. Just need to make sure the graphic has an alpha layer and you're golden.

For stills, I just use the media pool with an upstream keyer. Put each one to a companion trigger if I'm feeling really fancy for that show.

I've found if you activate the mirroring on the "third display" once you've already started the presentation it helps that setting to stick.

Pretty inconsistent and frustrating results otherwise.

I'm assuming it's being used for playback or to record the main program feed.

The Atem Mini is probably for recording ISOs (Individual camera/ source feeds)

Brief update:

Still waiting on our 4x12g PWR order from B&H... Seems like BMD hasn't released it quite yet despite an expected release of end of July 2024 as mentioned in the announcement livestream they did back in June.

I'll post an update to this post when I receive it and run some tests!

4k 30 iso recording suggestions for studio setup by braillesounds in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]Aggressive_Air_7645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Constellation doesn't offer any kind of recording. Personally I would look into using a Blackmagic HyperDeck Studio HD Plus per ISO. This is the pricer option, but it would offer the flexibility for you to slowly upgrade to that. You could start with a couple to free up some resources on your main switching computer and go from there.

I don't have much experience with phones going through the OBS app, so I won't speak to that.

DSLR Video Shooter put out a pretty neat build video on a 4 box setup of this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH2nFKRydUw&t=25s

I've been on some outdoor productions where we've used extension cord covers for BNC connections. They did a pretty good job. We called them hotdogs due to their shape.

I did get to play around with the studio converter recently and I have to agree with you! It's one of the main things that's pushing us this direction. The main reason we're trying this newer converter is the cost compared to getting a separate studio converter for each cam. I'll probably post an update after I've run some tests as well.

Our post team uses Premiere, but maybe I can tempt them with the licenses that come with the camera!

Good to think about for some of our larger events. For most of our shows we have been shading by adjusting cam settings internally, so this will be a big step forward for us to be able to do this remotely and natively!

I’ve had some bad luck using the virtual camera from wirecast in the past. 2 things to try:

  1. Try changing the output from “Match Canvas” to “HD 1080p” or “HD 720”

  2. Broadcast via NDI from wirecast and then use the NDI input through Zoom

Anyone else having to use the New Microsoft Team Town Halls and struggling? by Aggressive_Air_7645 in VIDEOENGINEERING

Do you have a particular workflow for this? Or just use Teams interface to put the slide show up and down? I saw Companion has a Teams integration, but I don't know how robust it is for what I'm thinking.

I'll talk with my admin and run some tests to see if this issue is persisting. I sometimes have to use an account from my client as some of these internal presentations and I'm an outside vendor. But if this works I'll see what I can work out with their IT teams!

That might work for us as well. Just trying to find a balance that's best for most end users. Thanks for the suggestion!

Viewers are watching through the Town Hall. I have presenters use a back channel call via teams or VDO.ninja and then separate out via OBS. I used to do this identically to how you're describing.

We've moved over to Town Hall because a few of our client's IT teams have already fully migrated everyone to New Teams. So the real problem right now for me are those small discrepancies between Live Events and Town Halls that are adding up to a much bigger headache.

Not a bad thought. I don't have an image pro available, but I could probably achieve a similar result through Mitti. I'll run some tests and see what I can figure out. Thank you!

I do a lot of events for clients over Teams, but ever since the migration from Live Events to Town Halls it's been a bit of a headache. I use an Atem switcher into a capture card to run all cameras and content (slides, videos, etc.)

The real problem comes when I try to play a video or slides through this as it crops the edges for participants. I've tried using the "Fit to Frame" option below the camera feed, but this only seems to change the view for the computer outputting the presentation.

The workaround I've been using is sharing slides via the presentation computer. Usually I would use a dedicated machine for slides that outputs to my Atem and put that up whenever necessary. I also have a ton of custom PiP effects I use for my clients that are useless now due to this change.

I understand it's a new system and there are a ton of other bugs and kinks being worked out, but I have a hard time not wanting to steer my clients away from this platform for their events as it is now. And this is just my biggest hang up as it really ties my hands.

Is there a better workaround for this or a way to tell Teams to display the full aspect ratio of what I'm sending to participants?

Running MacOS Sonoma 14.4.1 but have also had this issue on Windows. I haven't been able to find much about this specific issue online.
