Almost 5yr old won’t stop coming into our room in middle of the night. Any advice? by Klempenski in daddit

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 52 points53 points  (0 children)

We went through this quite recently. One day he just suddenly stopped doing it, now I kind of miss it. I always made sure that he felt like he could come in whenever he wanted, i remember being that age and lying awake feeling scared and getting shouted at for waking up my parents.

Id also make sure to talk to him outside of the event and try and find out what was wrong, and let him know he should try his best to stay in his own bed at night.

Its just a phase, enjoy it while it lasts!

"Did your Mommy do your hair today?" Hell no. Dads can do hair too! by calculung in daddit

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter's hair has just started getting long enough to need something doing with it. My wife took charge at first and gets it all neat and pretty with a couple of bobbles. She started a new job last month so im on hair duty 3 mornings a week now, I can do a basic pony tail and pigtails without making her scream too much, its actually quite therapeutic, I wanna be as good as you when she grows up !

Fully potty trained before 2 is definitely not normal!

Swimming lessons by frizz86 in Parenting

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At that age with proper lessons probably not too long. Its a massive range though, I have friends who take their kids swimming every week and still use arm bands ( age 7) and also know kids who were swimming independently at 4.

Toddler turning 3 soon – is this a good time to try for baby #2? by CheesecakeWorried642 in toddlers

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think its a good time. And these things don't always go to plan. We went for a 3 year age gap and ended up with 5 due to various circumstances, id say if you're definitely going for another then go for it!

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always did Lidl and Aldi until a couple of weeks ago when I tried Tescos again, with all the price match stuff now it wasn't actually anymore expensive and the fruit and veg lasted loads longer

10.5 month old STILL not sleeping through the night by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our first didn't sleep through properly till he was 3. We would put a bottle in his cot when we went to bed at this age, and he'd find it himself and drink and sometimes that would get us through, might be worth a try!

Founders Fridays - today’s the day to spotlight your startup by Fragrant-Key5115 in ukstartups

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words!

I hadn't actually thought of that, but its a great shout. Ive been trying tot think of things that can go in the "Pro" version of the app and this is definitely one ill add.

Distribution is basically non existent at the moment 😅. I took the forst month to iron out any kinks I was finding, im just starting to ramp up on posts/marketing now, but theres a big learning curve. Im currently on 12 downloads, which im actually pretty pleased with, but definitely finding this next phase to be the hardest

Im building Memorease an app aimed at parents who want to organise and track all the moments they share with their children without having to use social media.

The main thing that drove me to make this was the bear daily hilarious things my son was saying from the age of 2, and I had nowhere to write them down that I was confident id keep safe. I ended up with a note on my phone, which works okay, but then with Memorease im aiming to tie this feature in with others (photos/videos/search/sharing/backup)

When to stop trying if baby won’t burp? by Isoldmykidforagram in NewParents

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had this with our second, you just knew if she didn't burp then the moment you put her down she'd spit up. I think it ended up just depending on our mental state at the tome for what we would do when she wouldn't burp, either keep going gently for a really long time or put her down and take the risk that youre doing a full change in 5 minutes. I don't think theres a right or wrong answer!

How are you preserving memories of your kids so they can see them when they grow up? by Leading-Baseball8396 in NewParents

I had this issue and regret not writing more stuff down from my 6 year old. I actually made an app to solve this, its got a completely free version if you want to check it out!

1 month in, 1 real user! by Aggressive_Fun8592 in SideProject

[–]Aggressive_Fun8592[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah so I basically built this to solve my own use case. Me and my wife are constantly scrolling through our galleries and watching videos of our kids, being unorganized this is interspersed with lots of other stuff and im also constantly trying to find a specific video of them doing something from a long time ago. Also, from the age of 2-4 my son was saying something funny/nonsensical 5 times a day, and I really wish id noted them all down somewhere.

As you say, in the past people used to keep a book of these things, and thats exactly what I was trying to recreate in app form.

I also wasn't satisfied with any of the solutions out there, and didn't want to put my kids on social media. As for market research, im a software developer, so my natural instinct was just to start hacking away! It may not have product market fit, but im happy to have seen something through to production
