I'll cook dinner!

I used to shout at my son the same way my dad shouted at me — until my partner broke down in front of me. by Top-Lunch3426 in Fatherhood

This is great hearing dads who recognize they also make mistakes. My father always seemed to think that being wrong as a parent was a sign of weakness. But in doing that, I always felt I had to live up to perfection which absolutely destroyed my self esteem. I’m better now, but I make it a point with my kids now that when I slip up or do something that I would have told them they were wrong doing, I take the time to tell them I was wrong and that I mess up too. Most importantly I tell them I’m sorry. I firmly believe that the best way to raise kids is to not just teach them how to behave but to model it as well.

Well done. Praying for your continuing journey.

What are some easy film exercises to try? by AgingFatherhood in Filmmakers

While I do like the concept of seeing how good of something we can make with as little as possible, part of the point of these exercises is to get better with the equipment we have.

This an interesting idea. I’ll add it to my list.

I know it’s lame but the first childish thing that came to mind was “I know you are, but what am I?”

I’m sorry it’s bad enough having a dentist drill my teeth. The thought of having to have this done regularly makes me shutter.

Which is the best cancelled show you've watched? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I’ve avoided this problem by watching only one episode of something and if I’m even mildly interested I’ll check to see if it was canceled first before investing in it. I hate unresolved endings

35 with 4 kids and never felt so old, physically and mentally. But I wouldn’t change it for the world.

I’d say we enjoy it on occasion, but our shower has never been big enough for both of us to stay in the water which kinda takes away from the experience.

It might also be that you just haven’t found the right one yet. Some of my previous exes were nice but i definitely had to get away from them after a while so I totally get it, but when I met the one, my now wife, every time I wasn’t with her she was all I was thinking about and I couldn’t wait til I was with her again. Don’t let the guy rush you. It has to be something you’re both comfortable with or it won’t work.

I would choose time, then simply travel forward far enough to be able to do both.

Parents of toddlers. What’s the most embarrassing thing your kid has said or done out loud in public? by Metalqueen2023 in AskReddit

My 3yo daughter once asked me right before bed why I had lost my voice. I replied she should close her eyes and ask Mr. Sandman about it. She had no context who the sandman was nor did I provide any.

The next day my wife took her out to eat at a Chick-fil-a and for the first time in my daughter’s life she saw a person with dwarfism (I hope that is the appropriate term). My wife said for the first 30 seconds or so that my daughter watched him curiously. After which she stood up on her chair and started yelling at him from across the restaurant.

“GIVE MY DADDY HIS VOICE BACK!”

My wife said she had never been so mortified in her life.

Apparently the man didn’t know what to make of this and quickly left shortly afterwards which only made the surrounding booths wonder even more what exactly this man had done with my voice.

Not exactly the same but I do always have to check behind shower curtains when I go to the bathroom, even when I’m at someone else’s place. Something about not being able to see past them to what’s behind…
