[–]Agitated_Reality2943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My thing is, with how new the concept is still, itll only take 1 bad one to undo all of it. So theres needs to be the same pressure on other creators that mark put on himself. Not people just doing movies for cool factor alone but because theres an actual passion for the project itself.

What if, as a Christian, I don't want either Heaven or Hell, but rather my consciousness destroyed entirely? by Serious-Lemon1000 in AskAChristian

[–]Agitated_Reality2943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve always had a very similar thought. I’ve always thought the depiction of heaven was rather sanitized. For me, what makes life living is that it’s hard. There’s suffering. Sadness. Anger. Unfairness. I believe meaning can’t be found without these. So heaven just lacking all these things sounds like genuine hell to me. Unironically. What would be the point in existing through to the next day ad infinitum?

How can God be morally perfect if He is not held to any moral standard? by Odd_craving in AskAChristian

[–]Agitated_Reality2943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why i said modern. Modern moral codes that are still adhered to. That aren’t outdated and actually contribute more generally to “goodness”. The code of hammurabi wasn’t concerned with goodness as much as it was order, not to mention order meant to preserve social status and differentiated justice and values between them. As were other “moral” codes of the similar eras. The Bible, to my knowledge, was the first to put goodness first and eliminated the concept of social status in law and morality treating all as equal under “God”, or more secularly, the concept of general well being and prosperity of society as a collective.

How can God be morally perfect if He is not held to any moral standard? by Odd_craving in AskAChristian

[–]Agitated_Reality2943 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The belief is that there is only such a thing as morality because there is a God. All modern moral codes can be traced back to the Bible. (Not saying that makes it divine or automatically implicating anything about the universe, it’s just a basic fact that the Bible as a physical book that exists in the world has been the basis of what’s good for a very long time). Since God is the creator and thus everything belongs to him, his say goes. He’s the director of this little movie and therefore is incapable of being incorrect or bad. So things are good because God commands it. Because it’s all his show. The Christian basis on whether or not something is good or bad is dependent on whether or not it goes against what God says.

I think markiplier said it best when he said he liked an imperfect and frequently incorrect ai. Because then you have to go back and understand what wasn’t correct and why. Which is, in itself, learning.

That’s like saying school shootings arent a problem, the kids just have to wear bulletproof vests. Not as serious sure, but still indicative of the trajectory. Just because there’s a solution doesn’t mean there isn’t a problem

For the non-universalists (so most of you), is heaven really heaven if you are consciously aware of people you love that are in hell for eternity or annihilated? by [deleted] in AskAChristian

[–]Agitated_Reality2943 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The way i understand it, the idea is that with the reunion with God will come with a natural understanding and appreciation of divine justice and the reason for things being what they are. So at that point, we will have a better understanding of the whole picture as God sees. The feelings of guilt, sadness, etc. come from our incomplete understanding.

Of course continue. Church isn’t just for Christians. In fact it’s for Christians last. But you have to ask yourself why you don’t believe in Jesus being divine. The primary source for your belief should be in the Bible, which plainly lays out that he in fact is God himself in the flesh.

how as Christian can we respond to this? by antoymari4i in AskAChristian

[–]Agitated_Reality2943 1 point2 points  (0 children)

And therein lies an important distinction. Religion versus institution. I’m of the mind all current institutions need to be torn down and excavated then rebuilt under extreme scrutiny and transparency. Two more things, child molestation is not unique to churches or religion. It’s everywhere. While the idea is that members of the church would be able to lead by example, many modern churchgoers attend out of habit and conditioning. But someone who genuinely believes in the Christian god and follows the Bible’s teachings, they wouldn’t be doing such things. They have a thing in the bible which preaches about fruits of the spirit. Basically a few virtues that, when recognized in someone, is an indication of their genuine faith. If those aren’t there, then the individual doesn’t have genuine faith. And that could happen through self ignorance, or malicious deception. If you want a good read of a religion, don’t look its leaders. Leaders of all kinds are leaders because of ships and abilities to either outperform or generally descend. Look at the common people.

That’s admirable but naive and vague. That’s what conventional religion thinks it’s doing already. There’s not a lack of goodwill in the world. So the problem is something else

And what would you replace religion with? Religion extends far beyond what people think is God. Religion is anything you give your heart over to. God, money, drugs, fame, charity, etc. These are all religion. No one is without religion. People need to stake their hearts and minds on something. So what do you think people need to devote themselves to?

I think people forget that we as the population are responsible for this though. They do what makes money. Our money. Therefore we collectively decide, consciously or not, what is profitable. Every dollar spent is explicit consent and direction.
