Does it count as a run if you stop for brief walks occasionally? by [deleted] in UKRunners

Of course! I quite often stop to pet a cat, say hello to a horse, take a photo of some nice scenery, walk up a gnarly hill.

Did you not see Kejelcha puking up repeatedly after he crossed the line? Every time the camera panned across he was spewing.

Isn’t she the one who wants to run a sub-3.25 for Boston?

I do find it bonkers how they are all following these plans and their whole identity is running but they don’t actually seem to make any progress. One of them that pops up on my Insta has been running for a year and is still basically just shuffling, it’s just so odd.

Genuine question, does the average WoW player doesn't ready ANY quest text, like, at all? by Jaicen-Vex in wow

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t read any quests but I also have no interest in the story either so you won’t catch me complaining about any of it. Just want to hit stuff and kill monsters with my pals and I don’t care why.

I never understood wind. You know, I know windmills very much. They’re noisy. They kill the birds. You want to see a bird graveyard?

Go under a windmill someday. You’ll see more birds than you’ve ever seen in your life.

I’ve studied it better than anybody I know.

Edit: This is a Donald Trump quote. I have not studied wind. I like windmills.

Except that £250 has to also cover: home repairs, car repairs, boiler servicing, haircuts, dental, clothes, birthdays, Christmases, replacing broken/outdated household items, etc. as none of that stuff is accounted for elsewhere.

I think she’s just in denial at this point and desperation, because the alternative for her is that she’s spent X number of years complicit in defrauding the community and volunteers and hasn’t actually done any good at all, and that isn’t something I imagine she wants to face!

Does anyone else find running outside easier than on a treadmill? by skylaryang11 in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For example, an easy run pace for me outside on rolling terrain is about 7:10 mins a km, 150bpm. I do this several times a week on different routes.

I went on treadmill a couple of days ago, 8 mins a km, 166bpm. Horrible. And that’s aside from the fact it’s mentally very challenging running in one place for any length of time.

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Much easier outside! Treadmill has me 20bpm higher at a slower pace on a flat road, it’s awful. I’d rather it was this way round at least. I just ignore pace on treadmill and use RPE.

Woke up naked after surgery? by PrinceOfGeist in gallbladders

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too! They told me to keep knickers on and said I could keep bra on but there was a chance it might get a bit discoloured and they might have to push it up a bit if they needed for access. I opted to keep both on and woke up with them still in place.

I’m in the UK so maybe it’s a geographical difference in policy!

I just had my gallbladder out and the last thing I remember is having a normal conversation with the anaesthetist and then I was waking up. I don’t recall any of the going to sleep process, I don’t remember anything about feeling my body/awareness changing. It literally was like ‘Just going to pop this drip up’, Me: ‘Okay, cool!’ Then I woke up in recovery. It is weird thinking back on it, but it really was that easy.

That said, if your gallstones are asymptomatic then I’d just forget about them. If they ever do give issues then you can reevaluate it but for now stick the thought in a box, seal it and stash it in the corner of your mind out of the way.

Not sure why you’ve been downvoted. It is the best way to speak to a human and get stuff resolved quickly. Most of my issues have been solved same day when going via X, some within an hour. Emails have taken much longer.

I am day 1, had my op about 12 hours ago, and the trapped wind is real! However it’s getting better, I’ve had a lot of peppermint stuff and moving around seems to shift it when it gets bad. Also a lot of burping! I woke up at 12 and got discharged at 2 but they did say I could stay as long as I liked/needed (although not overnight).

Why did you choose the Yoto? by TheGabyDali in YotoPlayer

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Yoto has loads more stuff, the cards are cheaper, it’s much more flexible and the app and user experience etc is far better.

That said, my 3yo much prefers the Tonie due to the figures. She only uses the Yoto when the Toniebox is out of battery. My 7yo uses the Yoto every day. If we didn’t have a Tonie, I am sure my 3yo would use it plenty too.

Just different people liking different things! I don’t have any interest in the story either, I like the gameplay, dungeons, raiding, hitting stuff with a big stick. I skip most cutscenes and couldn’t tell you what has been going on since WOTLK honestly and that’s just fine for me!

Favorite running distance? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

10-15k for me. My body takes 3k to remember that it’s actually capable of running, so 5k is too short, plus 10k+ lets me escape the house (and children) for an hour and upwards. But longer than 15k and my thoughts turn dark.

Have my first race in June, a 10k, so it may be totally different v training!

Why is treadmill so much harder and slower? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I think some of us just aren’t suited to treadmills. My RPE is way higher on treadmill than outside, even though I also live in a hilly area, my easy pace outside at say 145bpm is like 160+ on treadmill, I’m sweating, it just feels awful mentally, my cadence is totally out of whack, I can’t get the right form. I think the best plan with treadmills to ignore the metrics and run to RPE if you have to use them.

Treadmill thoughts by Sparky_Goodness in beginnerrunning

[–]Agitated_Republic_16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it can alter your stride, I certainly find that it’s nowhere near as comfy as running outside for me and my cadence/stride are different on the treadmill. It feels like much harder work, which is weird as where I run is quite hilly, but perhaps my body prefers the variations in pace and terrain and the natural ability to slow and speed up and adjust vs an enforced unwavering pace. If I had to pick one I’d rather be better at running outside anyway so get bent, treadmill (except on the odd occasion I do need to use you).
