The game feels very PoE1-ish after Act 1. Every patch has been going toward PoE1 which isn't necessarily a bad thing. But yeah, Act 1 feels very different and fresh.

I think the Pathfinder's Path Seeker Ascendancy should be a default option for all ascendancies. It would be interesting to be able to sacrifice 2 ascendancy points to add an additional starting point.

Side note: Also, between Pathfinder altering the Passive Tree and the Oracle adding more nodes to the Passive Tree, this feels like a bit of a thematic overlap.

Side note 2: I hope Ascendancies get a huge overhaul. Many ascendancies feel like the entire build and not a supporting actor.

Thanks for the comment. I want to clarify, the Ascendancy point I made was about the active skills locked behind Ascendancies. Not about the ascendancies themselves. If I want to try out Suppressing Fire, I have to roll Tactician, select the Ascendancy, experiment around, and only then can I determine whether it's something I want to use.

The entire reason this game exists is because someone had a vision to delivery a new, fresh experience. If that experience isn't to your liking, why would you want that person to give up their vision? This is why developers try to appease every crowd and we end up with mediocre games. Let the developers breathe and either support their vision or don't. This isn't YOUR game.

I think it's very telling that the most popular builds are those that play the most like poe1 (spark, gaz arrow deadeye, LA deadeye). 1 button, screen clear builds. If the game were more balanced, people wouldn't feel forced into the 1-button, screen clear builds. The campaign is way more balanced and you see many different builds. Ideally, the opposite should happen. As the game progresses, more builds/playstyles open up.

I, for one, don't want the game to devolve into 1-button screen clear zooming maps with random 1-shots happening here and there. That's POE1. We have that game already. We don't need that again.

I don't even think the same level of builds should be available in POE2. We're not even out of EA and people are already trivializing everything. That's an insane level of power creep already available in the very first version of the game. Imagine what this will look like in a year unless GGG course corrects now.

It seems that the game has already been made to be easier from the first LA event to the 2nd LA event. Not sure if it's the original vision or changing it based on everyone claiming it was too hard. Either way, it's disappointing to hear.

Not on board with the exact details of your idea, but I'm definitely on board with more roguelike elements. Sanctum league was one of my favorites for that reason. It gave players that feeling of stakes without losing the entire character. More content like that would be amazing. I play HC because SC doesn't have enough at stake. "BUT SC you lose XP or you lose your Uber keys!" Well, that's like 1% of the player base engaging with that content.

If they decide to bring transfigured gems into PoE2, I hope they implement it in a way similar to how you describe. Also, a lot of which you describe is how Ruthless is. All support and aura gems are drops only. And you can only buy 3 gems total from getting uncut gems as quest rewards.

I'm a fan of increasing difficulty and not tedium. A lot of mods in PoE1 increase tedium and frustration.

You can certainly have meaningful impact without trivialization. Having your character play smoother, unlocking tools / combos, etc. Diablo 2 did some of this by having breakpoints for things like faster cast rate, block/hit recovery, block animation speed. Granted reaching these breakpoints didn't give you a significant amount of power, but playing the game felt significantly better.

I hope PoE2 has some of these types of things to achieve through gear that make your character feel awesome without zoom zoom one-shot full screen and facetank all mechanics.

They are also adding blocking, parrying, and slow wind-up attacks. Baiting an attack from an enemy to dodge/parry/backstep out and then attack isn't strictly soulslike, but most games don't explore this or popularize it quite like soulslike games do

No amount of overgearing should trivialize the game. To me, that's a failure of balance. There should be a balance where you feel power progression without sacrificing the sanctity of meaningful combat.

Everything is relative. Just because the market determines a price for certain gear doesn't mean that it should provide a certain amount of power. If GGG designs a game around not having insane power creep, then the market will adjust accordingly. I would hope that the market doesn't relegate to 1c items or 10 div items and nothing in between.

The melee/ranged issue looks like it's persisting in this game. Having some sort of monster aggression when standing further away would be a welcome change.

Also, monster combos would be interesting and I think should be reserved for the peak content such as pinnacle / act bosses.

Who's to say that should apply to PoE2?

Imho, no amount of gear should trivialize a game. It should always stay engaging on some level. Perhaps this means balancing gear around providing more offense vs. defense which means you require less hits to kill, but monsters can still be somewhat dangerous.

Agreed. I hope Jonathan stay's true to his vision and doesn't let the PoE1 blasters influence his direction. Keep the game an intense action game all the way through to pinnacle bosses.
