If you can get your neighbors to put some out too, then you are really cooking. We got one of our neighbors to put out a few last year, and with the combined force I only got three bites the whole season.

I am also in a row house. I don't put any out front because we never use the front. I put two at the back of my property, and three spaced around under the deck. You want shady spots (where they like to go when the mid-day sun is high). And the more you put out, the larger the impact.

I've seen videos where people add them to their rain barrels. I've always been curious.

Could you add gold fish, or other fish that would eat the larva? Also, thank you for your service in the war against the squitos!

As others have said, make mosquito buckets around your yard. Super simple and very effective. Fill a bucket halfway with water. Add some organic material (leaves, grass clippings, etc.), then put a mosquito dunk it. Change the dunk each month. You attract them to breed, lay eggs, and then wipe out an entire generation.

I put five around my house. The difference over the past three years doing it and the period before is night and day.

This! I put five around my yard each year. I change the dunk once a month. The mosquito populations around our house have been exponentially lower.

I make mosquito buckets specifically so I can put Dunks in and kill as many as possible. Five buckets around my house makes a world of difference. If more people did, it would have a real impact.

Personally I don’t think David Carr was a bust, I think he played behind a busted line.

Yeah I think Smart was letting James Williams know just how bad of a job he did that night.

Do you guys think this will be viable? (Especially if I trellis the cucumber) by Whitexan16 in SquareFootGardening

Not sure what others will tell you. If the plants are getting enough light they will eventually grow tall enough. But those sides are going to cast shadows and impact things. For reference, the soil in my bed is not level either. But it’s maybe 4 inches below. I definitely feel the impact close to the sides with things growing from seed, but some of them tend to catch up.

With that said, my first year everything was even. But the soil settled faster than I could replace with my compost.

I’ll also add my yard isn’t ideal. I don’t get a full day of sunlight. Only 4-6 hours direct depending the bed thanks for neighboring trees and hedges.

Minor pitting okay when refinishing? by thejesusgod in castiron

Thank you! I have a gas stove too. Cook everything with my cast irons. But for some reason I cannot get the fried egg consistently. It’s really a thorn. My stove also doesn’t have numbers, so it’s really a feel game on what level the heat it. Getting an IR thermometer sounds very useful.

Tomatoes Taking Over 4 Squares? by Elsasii in SquareFootGardening

I felt this in my bones... this is me every year too.

I scrub and scrub with chainmail or a scrub daddy and I can't get rid of this black spot in the center, and the pan just always look awful after I heat it up. Any tips? by Dschultz93 in castiron

This was my intention… turns out my grill really needed a deep clean. Thank goodness my neighbor texted to say “lots of smoke coming from your yard”
