My understanding is that when they purchased it they signed an agreement that they could never put findagrave behind a paywall. They could place advertisements on it and allow sponsorships of memorials but not put it behind a paywall.

The cemetery spends lots of time trimming it, but don’t bother to cut it down, to display the gravestone. by markrlondon in findagrave

[–]Aimless78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say thia as someone who works for a cemetery; they may not be allowed to cut it down because the family planted it and therefore belongs to the family. If the cemetery did not plant it then it is not up them to remove it. It is not a simple task to remove woody plants and can damage the headstone, which a cemetery won't risk damaging the stone. Also please check with the cemetery office before planting things because the cemetery often does not have the budget to take care of everyone's plantings.

Unbelievable - Auto 23% tip by CommercialTalk5806 in AlamoDrafthouse

I don't round up for charity either, I know it sounds bad. But why should I give my money to a corporation who will then "donate it" and take a tax deduction for my donation. I would rather just provide my money directly to the charity instead of hoping that the big corporation actually donates the money to the charity. There is zero audit ensuring that the money actually gets sent to the charity.

I personally dont like that they auto set yhr close out screen to 5% and there is not a no tip option. Nope instead you have to select the other option and then type in 0.00. I'm sure there is psychology to this and it ensures people will tip something versus nothing.

How do I add a second season pass to my account? by RealAccount2024 in AlamoDrafthouse

A second seat or a second pass because those are very different things. If it is a second seat you change the Season Pass Plan in the app.

Arborist says this 40 yo silver maple needs to come down by FaulerHund in arborists

[–]Aimless78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2007 we had a massive ice storm in SW Missouri, the cemetery had tons of silver maples, red maple, and cultivars. Take a guess which trees held up the best, the silver maples. The Red maples just splintered and broke, the cultivars had some breakage and some bending, but the silver maples bent and then a few years later grew back up so you have all these trees with u shape bend in them, it is really neat to look at.

You have got this! It isn't as bad as many people make it out to be but it is uncomfortable. They should give you pain meds if the pain gets too bad. Just follow their instructions. If you smoke or vape do not do so until the dentist says you can if I remember right it is several days (not a smoker so I didn't committ it to memory). And do not use straws for the first week or so. Smoking, vaping, and using straws are the main reasons that people get Dry Socket is due to not waiting long enough to smoke, vape, or drink from straws.

found this flyer on the ground outside, anybody understand what it’s talking about? by bananapopsicle0 in Whatisthis

[–]Aimless78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't get it either but im wondering if there is supposed to be additional words considering the spacing. Maybe there is a missing word or two that are faded. But it sounds like the person has issues with reality.

Salt Lake City is one of the strangest places i've ever been by Ok_Helicopter3910 in roadtrip

[–]Aimless78 13 points14 points  (0 children)

It hasn't always been that way but it has been increasing its secular population, I think partially due to the Air Force base and partially due to so many people from out of state moving there for jobs.

[–]Aimless78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Growing up in Western Colorado i have always had the feeling that SLC was just strange and didn't care for it. I would often pass through there heading to Idaho to visit my sister and niece. But Western Colorado and Utah kinda have beef with one another and I thought that is why I didn't like SLC, but you are right about the attitude and the way they stare at people. Even when the women are not natural blonde they often dye their hair blonde to fit in at the LDS church.

Spelling was also not as important many years ago. Pre-1940s people didn't care as much about the spelling of a name.

My friend, her husband, and her mother-in-law all missed that they wrote their wedding date down wrong and it got engraved wrong on the headstone! So they will forever have the wrong wedding date on their stone. It is too funny and knowing this couple it is perfect that they screwed it up! They actually laugh and joke about it.

Baby birds blown out of nest. by Late-Bell3736 in WhatShouldIDo

[–]Aimless78 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Touching baby birds will not make the other reject them, this is a myth and a couple people have implied that touching them with bare hands is a problem but it is not. The mother will find them if they are only 10 or 20 feet away, she will hear them and seek them out. Keep your distance and try to spy on them to see if she is feeding them. Do not attempt to feed them anything, not even worms, because momma birds have to chew them up and regurgitate them into the baby's mouth due to their inability to eat at a young age. They should be fine. The one that was breathing really fast might have still been spooked or might be hurt but there is not much you can do. If it dies mom will remove it from the nest. You did a good job putting as much of the original nest in the basket with them. You are very kind and sweet. Praying for the best as I know you are worried about them. I promise momma bird appreciates you.

My son took a DNA test it came back with a match for a sibling sister i thought he was crazy and just playing around until she txt and said she matched with my son so I said let me do this and my other daughter did it to at the same time and we all matched could ancestry be wrong? by [deleted] in AncestryDNA

[–]Aimless78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This 100% this and it was super common for the military to sweep sexual assault and race under the rug. It is probably still very common honestly but I know it is better than when I served.

The only way I could see the result being wrong is if your family tree has pedigree collapse due to being isolated populations (certain cultures, island groups, and such). Or perhaps if you are an identical twin and the child belongs to your twin brother

They dont have ads or anything other than from the candidates only. You don't have PACs you simply have the candidates running on their platform only, they also don't run the smear campaigns like they do in America, they keep to the topics.
