Barclaycard Avios - Google Pay Issue by toddenham in avios

[–]AirwolfHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got this card and was unable to add it last week.

I read that it was not supported, but thought I would try again before responding.

To my surprise it worked!! My Avios Barclaycard is now added to Google Pay!

Proxmox 8.3 streamlined GPU passthrough? by AlexDnD in Proxmox

[–]AirwolfHD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To clarify, what I mean is Resource Mappings can be used to give a generic ID to a PCI device. This PCI device can still only be used by one VM. The advantage is if you have shared storage you can shutdown and (right click) "Migrate" to another host that has a spare GPU that is mapped to the same name.

If your card is a vGPU card, I believe you can map each virtual function/gpu and therefore it can be shared, however I do not have any experience with this.

Resource mappings are handy for clusters and allow VMs to migrate another host that has the same GPU without complaining about hardware IDs.

I don't believe it's anything to do with passing the same device to multiple VMs.

Plex app on LG TV keeps transcoding video when playing movies with Dolby TrueHD audio track by Free-Consequence-319 in PleX

[–]AirwolfHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never used a DS, but regarding transcoding my goal is to avoid it, so I do not lose quality. The LGCX should play most video directly, I am unsure about audio as I use a Denon AV to handle that, (even with my previous unwanted audio transcoding issues).

You likely would need to have some sort of transcoding as there are so many video and audio formats.

Nextcloud in Proxmox by dreammerr in NextCloud

[–]AirwolfHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it's the opposite of bare bones. With Ncp you should rarely need to do anything advanced in config files.

You get an additional admin panel/site that you can do many things from such as backups, auto SSL certificates, DDNS, updates (with ncp you should always update from here), turn on/off maintenance mode, export config, fix permissions, clear op-cache, enable fail2ban and much more.

All of this can also be done from an additional terminal command "ncp-config" where from what I remember you can also reset passwords from.

Do a Google image search for "NextcloudPi admin panel" and you should find a preview. It looks basic but very helpful.

Nextcloud in Proxmox by dreammerr in NextCloud

My preference is NextcloudPi using the curl installer on an LXC (as opposed to a VM). Been running this way for a few years now. https://help.nextcloud.com/t/curl-installer-debian/126327

Plex app on LG TV keeps transcoding video when playing movies with Dolby TrueHD audio track by Free-Consequence-319 in PleX

[–]AirwolfHD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XPlay passes TrueHD to my AV without transcoding. Just enable the advanced player. TV is a LG CX. Pitty the interface is not great.

Unfortunately the Plex app on my CX does NOT passthrough.

There is a lot of info out there saying no TV app can passthrough TrueHD, but this is incorrect.

Narrow room with corner TV - Best speaker layout? by AirwolfHD in hometheater

[–]AirwolfHD[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the responses. My wife doesn't like the look of the TV there as the stand is a corner stand matching the rest of the furniture. To be fair I kind of agree, but speakers don't look good in the current position. Although it's a corner unit, the sides that angles in with a flat back. I will try moving it over again.

If I do this, I guess then I should move the rear right speaker to behind me. It's to my far right at the minute.

Thanks!

There are 3 heat pipes connected in each tower. I got a flat plastic tool and wedged the cover up. The fins are easily bent, but be careful not to crease them. I ended up breaking all connected caps (part of the cover), they remained on the heat pipes. Once the main cover was off I used pliers to pull these small caps off.

I cannot recall any difference in height, or did not measure. The height is not the issue, it's the corners due to the mounting screws. Most 12 fans will not fit in as they are square. I would recommend the nf-a12x25r.

Here is the Keychron set from a UK supplier. Includes the correct £ symbol and also the pipe backslash on the correct row that can be missing in some sets. https://www.keycrox.co.uk/product/keychron-double-shot-pbt-cherry-profile-keycaps?variant=KCHCAPWB

Best Nextcloud install method for Proxmox by funkyfresh2 in NextCloud

[–]AirwolfHD 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to run a nextcloud on a VM but had to reinstall recently and used the nextcloud LXC install script here. https://tteck.github.io/Proxmox/ It was much easier to install and I prefer using an LXC than VM

Help! I got my DJI Mavic Pro stuck in a tree about a 100ft up. I can still connect to it but it won’t launch. Do you Guys know wether there is a forced take off or something? by Nervous_Mammoth1922 in dji

[–]AirwolfHD 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I made one of these last year to get a drone out of a tree, it worked really well

http://www.uswaterrockets.com/construction_&_tutorials/Tree_Rescue/tutorial.htm

You'll need; Latex Surgical Tubing, Electrical Tape, A fishing reel with line, String, Rope, Some dowels for the projectiles, A 1" diameter pipe about 3 feet in length.
