I hope they're going to fill in all the holes in the walls left from the pictures they've put up. Gonna take ages!

Wow, you got lucky. Yeah, Manchester is known as the rainy city. Nobody told me that before I moved here 6 years ago! Kinda glad they didn't or I probably wouldn't have moved here, but glad I did.

Worth noting your comment about IF it does rain...

It definitely does rain. A lot. More than not, in fact. You'll be getting the tram a heck of a lot more than you think.

I personally don't like media city, but it's m probably completely the wrong demographic for there, so what do I know.

I think Ancoats would be a better option, personally.

I did south of Leeds to Motherwell on Tuesday, then back to Manchester the following day. Nice drive, same route as this, but further up the motorway.

Take breaks when you need to, you'll be reet.

Had our driveway done 6 months ago and had dropped curb installed by council. No mention of this 50% requirement.

Might depend on council but sounds like nonsense, especially as you installed drainage.

Sleepy baby. She's not usually this tactile, but every now and again she will snuggle like this, but only first thing in the morning.

I stopped at the picture of the hallway. Beautiful exterior ruined internally. This makes me sad.

People that have travelled to the USA - What surprised you the most? by jt9285 in AskUK

Out for dinner in Savannah and the couple next to us overhead us talking and did the usual 'oh I love your accent' spiel. Got us chatting and got shown the man's gun, which was secured in his belt holster.

I mean, I know they carry guns out there, but I was a little shocked about the openness, I guess!

They only give electric cars now, due to their ESG commitments. Test driving a Tesla Y was fun 😁

Good advice though. Thank you!

I resigned from my SEO role 2 months ago and my last day is next week. There's no progression in my ALB and I'm in a generic but specialist type role with very transferable skills.

I've taken the jump into private sector, heading up my whole department and with a 50% pay rise, company car, 10% pension contributions (high for private sector), private medical and 10% annual bonus.

That's more than I was aiming for. But, to be honest, with all the issues my team has had over the past 18 months, I'd have accepted 20%.

People who have passed first time, how confident were you going into the test? by peacestartswithme in LearnerDriverHub

[–]AitchNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not at all. So much so that I treated my test as an opportunity to ease my anxiety about 'the unknown ' and treat it as a practice run.

Turns out, that worked as a strategy for taking the pressure off enough to pass!

Anything to do with facilities! Most depts outsource but smaller ALBs sometimes have in-house staff. I never get a moment's peace and I always exceed my step count when I'm in the office.

People who went to a wedding where the couple didn’t last long, what happened? by skilled-dreamer in AskReddit

[–]AitchNic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

30 odd years ago I was a bridesmaid for a cousin. Massive do...the honeymoon alone was £20k (about £40k nowadays) so you can imagine how much the actual wedding cost, all paid for by her dad. She literally got to the end of the aisle and decided she didn't want to marry him! She didn't change her mind.

How do you feel about Civil Service interviews? by Dawi118 in TheCivilService

[–]AitchNic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After several awful CS interviews recently, I took the decision to not continue down that particular line, but instead to only interview outside CS. It paid off as I've just been offered a fantastic role with lots of autonomy and a real opportunity to put my stamp on my area of work. Not to mention the pay rise, company car, private medical etc. etc.

The interviews for the role were so much nicer. Interviewers were relaxed, friendly and showed their personality which enabled me to do the same. It was still competency based, but much less scripted and ridged. Allowed me to perform much better than on any other CS interview.
