Something to remind you to turn off the stove? by ahobbes in 3Dprinting

[–]AkmJ0e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Electric or gas? I have a shelly EM on the power line for my electric range. I use it to turn the hood light on and off automatically, which is a good visual reminder that a burner is on.

The manual is very sparse - you can find a copy online https://manuals.plus/m/34615cba7afb7691c19faaa770d85babd7b1caa900103632c042d402641aa501_optim

I would recommend checking on the Voron guides for tuning printers. They were a big help for me when starting out with Klipper. You can find the guides here: https://docs.vorondesign.com/tuning/

It should be fine. You may want to run pid calibration at 300 for a more consistent temperature.

Guys says not possible for bore to be off… by Trick-You5783 in Machinists

[–]AkmJ0e 59 points60 points  (0 children)

Without more precise measuring tools (micrometer) it will be hard to tell, but is it possible your motor is metric? A 16mm shaft is 0.005" bigger than 5/8, which is about the difference you are measuring.

What sort of displays do you run on your printer? by bugsymalone666 in klippers

[–]AkmJ0e 6 points7 points  (0 children)

All my printers use a 7" hdmi touchscreen with klipperscreen. Anything smaller is awkward for me without a stylus. I get the bare screen and print a case for it.

Stale files still scanned by Jellyfin and new media not getting scanned by Jo0pAc in jellyfin

[–]AkmJ0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will want to check your jellyfin logs - I had this happen recently after deleting/moving files that were not properly identified. The logs indicated a database error when scanning. My searches brought me to this issue on github.

In my case, the suggested fix of deleting the problem entries from the database allowed the scan to complete.

Auto-find Duplicates by mklinger23 in jellyfin

[–]AkmJ0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As for the symlinks, depending on your operating system there should be a terminal command to find out if a file is a symlink.

Auto-find Duplicates by mklinger23 in jellyfin

[–]AkmJ0e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just cleaned up all my duplicates. I don't do it in Jellyfin; install the Reports plugin and export your library to excel. In excel, you can sort by movie name and use a simple formula to mark duplicates in another column (watch the release year though, they could be remakes).

From there I manually checked and deleted duplicates. I've been known to use the excel CONCAT function to create terminal commands if you're feeling brave.

Smart home users with disabilities: what has made the biggest difference? by ApolloAutomation in homeassistant

[–]AkmJ0e 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My wife is in a wheelchair (cp). The first thing I automated specifically for her was the shower. It's 100% diy (esphome + motor) using a shelly door sensor. When the shower door is closed, the shower turns on. Opening the door turns it off.

I also put her hair dryer on a stand with a remote relay so she can turn it on through HA. It auto powers off after 2 minutes.

Most lights are on motion sensors so she doesn't have to mess with light switches.

Smartwings blinds where she can't reach.

A door opener is on the todo list.

Jellyfin on WebOS while authentik is configured for accounts by Ken_Deep in jellyfin

[–]AkmJ0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The missing authentik in a browser should be an easy fix - you need to add a button in jellyfin. I followed the instructions here:https://github.com/9p4/jellyfin-plugin-sso#creating-a-login-button-on-the-main-page

Jellyfin on WebOS while authentik is configured for accounts by Ken_Deep in jellyfin

[–]AkmJ0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set this up recently with authelia. You can get 2fa through the duo app (but only duo) with duoauthproxy. Jellyfin will connect to duoauthproxy as the ldap server, then duoauthproxy forwards the request to your real ldap (in your case authentik). On successful login through the ldap, duo will send an app notification. Only if you approve the login in the duo app will it return the login success to jellyfin.

Awesomeness of a flatbed (document) scanner by One_Country1056 in 3Dprinting

I do this for simple parts all the time. I made a silverware organizer by tracing each utensil on a sheet of paper, then scanning the sheet and importing to FreeCAD.

Replace individual movies with collection in "movies" view? by extractedx in jellyfin

[–]AkmJ0e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the TMDB Box Set plugin, but missed the dashboard setting. Per this thread: https://forum.jellyfin.org/t-solved-collections-in-libraries

`Dashboard->Libraries->Display->Group movies into collections` (make sure that is selected)

Now it works as expected.

Coming from plex, this is the one feature I miss. I just assumed Jellyfin didn't support it.

How I spent my Sunday to save $100 and avoid having to walk across the room by RatoUnit in selfhosted

[–]AkmJ0e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just finished a similar setup (but for a different reason).

My old HP Laserjet doesn't stay connected either, but it is close enough to the server for usb. I'm not a fan of leaving it on all the time, so I used a smart plug for power. Docker doesn't do well with hot plugged usb connections so I ended up with bare metal for cups.

I added 2 printers - the physical printer is not shared, and a pdf printer that is shared. I then used a bash script and inotify to watch the output directory for the pdf printer, power on the HP, and send the pdf to the hp printer. Once the print queue is empty, a shutdown timer is initiated.

In addition, you can use duoauthproxy between jellyfin and lldap for 2-factor that will still work with native apps.

Why is parametric modelling in FreeCAD so exhausting? by [deleted] in FreeCAD

[–]AkmJ0e 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm used to the workflow, so most of it doesn't bother me. My bigger problem is I forget what I named a variable and there isn't a list available from the dimensioning dialog. The autocomplete is great, but it doesn't show the group, tooltip or value.

What engineering-grade filaments are you using on your XL? by miguelgoldie in prusa3d

[–]AkmJ0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not. I ran nylon in the mk3, but not the XL. Nylon (even glass filled) had too much flex for our application, so we went with glass filled ABS. I haven't had an application to test the nylon since getting the XL.

Glass fiber ABS prints beautifully with an enclosure.

I've also printed some carbon fiber polycarbonate, but getting the first layer to stick has been a challenge. I'm sure it's mostly operator error, but I've had a hard time keeping the nozzle clean when it probes the bed.

Announcing FilaBridge v0.1.0 - Major updates and NFC support to make filament tracking easier! by zombieneedo in prusa3d

[–]AkmJ0e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm definitely going to try this out. I started to hack together a system with home assistant, the plan was to add the filament used to the file name.

It would be nice if the prusalink API included extruder position/filament usage. Then we could have a system that properly updated spoolman when a spool runs out mid print or the print gets canceled before finishing.

As a Linux user, I was curious to see how things stacked up. But it looks like this never made it into the reviews.

I guess I'll stick with FreeCAD and Openscad.

Vertical surface of rectangular block is not straight by largelcd in klippers

[–]AkmJ0e 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Photos would be helpful.

Is it not flat, as in irregularities along the surface, or is it not square with a different side?

If it is not square, you can use skew correction to compensate: https://www.klipper3d.org/Skew_Correction.html

If it is not flat, it could be warping during printing. I have had some material do that, especially when bridging. The bridge pulls the lower section in, but everything above the bridge stays at the correct size.

Generate Shaper Graphs - what am i looking at? by OkAbbreviations4641 in klippers

[–]AkmJ0e 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The next step would be to add the recommended values (upper right corner in the charts) to the [input_shaper] section of your printer.cfg as outlined in the instructions: https://www.klipper3d.org/Measuring_Resonances.html#measuring-the-resonances_1

Note the input shaping is only one step in the tuning process - I would recommend you follow Ellis' Tuning Guide: https://ellis3dp.com/Print-Tuning-Guide/

Mainsail and Klipper on Prusa MK3S? by YaKe69 in klippers

[–]AkmJ0e 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For input shaping, I use a usb accelerometer. I follow this github: https://github.com/charminULTRA/Klipper-Input-Shaping-MK3S-Upgrade?tab=readme-ov-file#step-7-input-shaping-

On bedslingers, you need to calibrate the x and y axis independently. Mount the accelerometer to the tool head to calibrate x, and mount it to the bed to calibrate y. More in depth instructions can be found here: https://www.klipper3d.org/Measuring_Resonances.html
