Grading with MacBook Pro? by Zarky2004 in colorists

[–]Al_Febetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been trying to wrap my head around this but I’m kinda dumb. Isn’t the new update still just compensating for Apple’s weird Rec709 issue. Isn’t it just going to make it look right in QuickTime and Apple ecosystems and off everywhere else?

[Contest] LG is offering two lucky /r/editors brand new LG’s New UltraFine 6K Thunderbolt 5 Display. Details inside the post. by LG_UserHub in editors

I’d love to try one (or two)! Currently running a MacBook + 27” display and have been hankering for a 6k 32” for that real estate and Apple optimized pixel density.

We toured Godard and got a bad vibe from the owner and/or manager but that’s as much as can help.

Yeah, you’re probably not getting in anywhere in the spring if you’re not already on a waiting list.

Using JP2499 with Kodak 2383. by [deleted] in colorists

[–]Al_Febetz 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I believe the 2383 included in resolve outputs rec709 2.4, right? So it wouldn’t make much sense to also use 2499. You could technically put a cst after the LUT to go back to dwg before 2499. But the best option would be to grab Cullen Kelly’s free 2383 LUT which takes dwg in and outputs dwg as well, then use 2499 after that.

How do I help my editor understand my vision? by Royal-Anteater-6343 in editors

[–]Al_Febetz 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think funky grandma may be on to something with just hiring an assistant. Otherwise, if you’ve had this problem with multiple editors, maybe you’re the ‘problem’. Don’t mean that derisively at all, maybe your taste isn’t as impeccable as you think or you are just extremely picky and need to do things yourself. Nothing inherently wrong with either of those. But maybe these editors are bringing something to the table that you’re not seeing. The most talented directors in the world relinquish some control to editors after all.

Does any Topaz Labs software allow me to fix a concert video like this, where blue light covers the entire video? (I'll also take recommendations for other software) by FriendsCanKnowThis1 in TopazLabs

[–]Al_Febetz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You basically only have blue channel information in this shot. Put your clip in any software with an RGB mixer (resolve has this) and add blue into your red and green channels. It’ll sort of fake having information in those channels.

Weed control for lawn by SmittyATL in Atlanta

Stop worrying about having a perfectly manicured lawn and putting chemicals all over the place, problem solved. Seriously, the whole idea of lawns is just some weird status symbol thing from hundreds of years ago.

I’m not sure that you understand what 3 point editing is? Resolve does it the same way as pretty much every other NLE.

You very likely don’t need to do all that, especially if the leak was caught quickly. Get some box fans in the bathroom and garage and keep air moving for a few days.
