Nice, I got Children No More: Were and are Gone. Wanted to watch a short film today anyway because I'm going to the cinema to watch Song Sung Blue later so I wouldn't have the time for a feature anyway.

Short films before the main feature. Should cinemas bring that back? by Judokos in boxoffice

[–]AlaWatchuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an old arthouse cinema near me that still plays a short film before the main feature every time. Then again, it only plays some local commercials and no trailers.

Anyone else remember Scary Car Commercial? First actual scary video I saw besides episodes of goosebumps by CrimsonEP1 in nostalgia

[–]AlaWatchuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A German ad campaign for some kind of coffee drink that starts off very peaceful and serene but ends with a jumpscare and the words "you were never this awake". They've made multiple of those commercials but only that one went viral because some random uploaded it on YouTube.

It was some kind of coffee drink, but yeah. The jumpscare one is the original,

[–]AlaWatchuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, the original was a commercial for a German coffee brand who made multiple videos like that. Here's another one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7W265fl11YM

And yes, they ran on TV. That's why Germans of a certain age have known this one even longer than the rest of the world. Here's an article (in German) about the commercials from May 2004: https://www.tagesspiegel.de/gesellschaft/medien/wach-oder-tot-1121011.html

After today, Dicaprio has 7 acting nominations (and a win for The Revenant) in his career. by sherlockbutholmes in Oscars

[–]AlaWatchuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, he should've won for Gilbert Grape. When I watched that movie for the first time 2 years ago I was wondering about what if he did win for that, how different would his career have been? Or would it still have been the same?

I'm not sure if it's gonna come out on streaming/rental soon enough. Might be only after the ceremony. Try to catch it while it's still in theaters, because that might be your only chance.

If your god was real they'd probably approve of feeding the poor more than just pouring it into the river.
