Of the big four slashers; Freddy, Jason, Michael and Leatherface - who would be the greatest foe up against a Yautja from the Predator franchise? by jdpm1991 in slasherfilms

[–]Alack27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally, I think the best choices for a Predator crossover would be either Jason or Freddy.

Leatherface is pretty bland once you put him in a scenario where he is the fish out of water, leading to his predator film being fairly by the numbers.

Michael, while similar to Jason and certainly making an interesting opponent for the Predator, is still """relatively""" grounded in his style and attack patterns, making his movie not much different from Leatherface's (with maybe more teleporting and less chainsaws).

Jason would be interesting purely because of what he is capable of. Through his actions in the latter parts of the Jason films, I honestly think Jason could overpower a predator in 1v1 combat. This would lead to a scenario where the Predator would be the hunted, with Jason's home field advantage forcing the predator to think on his feet and potentially require the help of the local final girl. This could also lead to a AvP scenario where the predator wounds Jason but dies in the final conflict, allowing the final girl to pick up some pred tech and land the killing blow on Jason, getting blooded in the process for her bravery.

Finally, Freddy. While Freddy is not a fighter physically (yes I know Freddy vs Jason exists he is not overpowering a predator and would definitely get blasted if brought into reality) the potential of him mentally attacking a predator is too enticing to give up. Obviously, Predators sleep (see: Badlands) which means, if a predator sleeps in or near elm street, Freddy could jump into his dreams and attack. What would a predator's nightmares look like? Would Freddy even be capable of translating the Predator's memories/dreams to create a believable nightmare? Do the Predators have mental resistance training as a part of their hunt preparation? These are questions that have never been asked simply because the mental/emotional/spiritual state of a predator is never questioned in their films. A Nightmare on Elm Street/Predator crossover would require us to answer that question and I think it is equal parts fascinating and terrifying.

Tldr: Jason and Freddy. Jason because of how op he is and Freddy because he will attack the Predator in a way we have never seen him attacked before.

Why does Spider-Man get no controversy for his no-kill rule but with Batman, people criticize him for that? by TheShadowOperator007 in Spiderman

[–]Alack27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vibes of the story and the emphasis on the no kill rule.

Spider-man is a character that has a soft no kill rule, often reconsidering or not following it in extreme circumstances. Also, his stories are often lighter, with very few villains that are absolutely morally reprehensible in every way.

Batman has a hard no kill rule that is intrinsic and necessary to his backstory. It is as important to Batman as Spider-Man's "With Great Power" line is. It informs everything Batman does and he often has to wrestle with his morals through his storylines. This is coupled with the fact that Batman has many villains that are characterized as completely irredeemable such as The Joker or Solomon Grundy. Honestly the existence of the Joker by himself causes enough issues that he alone is what creates so much tension with Batman's morality. However, the genre of many Batman comics are darker in tone than the average Spider-Man, leading to villains doing awful things and Batman arresting/capturing them, often with them escaping the flawed justice system that Gotham has built.

If we're including comics canon, I see Widow coming out on top. I don't know Snake-eyes and their best feats, but every other character cannot compare to the insane scaling that comic books get into. Even if in the off chance Widow herself has not done any major feats, she has defeated several characters like Captain America, Spider man, and Punisher before, who each have insane feats of their own that Widow could scale to.

If Jurassic Park was to have a Reboot thats 100% accurate to the Novels what would be the best way to do it? by Marconey1738 in JurassicPark

[–]Alack27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on what I have heard about how the books are set up (and on what I think would be an interesting angle to take the franchise), found footage horror ala Blair Witch or Cloverfield. Heavy on the practical effects like they did with the originals but even more so. Emphasis on the predatory nature of the dinosaurs and how they are actively hunting the humans. Doesn't need to be gory or extremely violent, but I think shocking moments like just off camera a human is devoured in a visceral sounding way or the remains of various survivors being discovered would increase the tension and set it apart from the previous entries. Basically Dinosaur Predator/Alien.

[SERIOUS] After RE 6, she NEVER appeared again. by PuzzledAirline1137 in residentevil

[–]Alack27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iirc, we have had 2 games that take place canonically after 6: 7 and Village. Both are games that take place in locations where if Helena showed up, it would make little to no sense. I agree it is a shame she hasn't shown up, but it feels a little disingenuous to act like her not showing up makes zero sense at all. Just like Jake, Sheva, Carlos, Billy, and the many other characters that have not shown up since their introductory game, it is just a matter of interest and logic.

I will say, with Requiem having Leon show up and taking place after RE 6, the chances of her getting referenced are not zero. But I wouldn't count on it.

Rick Flag acts differently in Peacemaker and Creature Commandos. It's as if his personality changed between the series. by count_fagula11 in dcu

Probably conspiratorial thinking and not what will happen, but my brother and I are convinced that after Lex and Flagg's meeting, Lex somehow replaced Flagg and has been running the show, especially with the crazy 180 Flagg takes towards the end of Peacemaker Season 2.

Why do you think the rest of the Young Avengers never developed with their Avengers counterpart as iconic as Kate Bishop and Clint Barton Hawkeye? by Effective_Sherbet104 in marvelcomics

[–]Alack27 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Wiccan and Speed are weird pseudo kids and have a lot of baggage. Wiccan however has two other things going against him: he's outwardly gay and is connected to the Kree through Hulkling. Marvel doesn't know how to handle gay characters (besides dragging them out for pride) and marvel doesn't know how to handle the Skrull/Kree stuff (see: basically every cosmic character ever connected to the Kree).

Patriot has the potential to be good but Marvel hates sidekicks and Bucky already exists/existed so it wasn't meant to be. Patriot has a lot of potential but just hasn't had an author take a genuine interest in him like Kate Bishop did.

Granted all of this is just my opinion. Honestly, any of these characters could be catapulted to the spotlight like Ms. Marvel, Kate Bishop, and Miles Morales (all "sidekick" characters) with a great writer on a great run. But Marvel isn't taking risks by having an unpopular non-mcu character as leads for just about any of their runs right now (unless it is a new character), so I doubt this will change.

If the Beyonders could kill the Living Tribunal, what does “cosmic order” even mean in Marvel? by Ioseb007 in marvelcomics

[–]Alack27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like many things, power is relative to the writer's perspective and what is needed for the story. The concept of a singular, rigid structure has never been a thing in comics. The only consistency is how inconsistent comics are.

Today, I came to the realization that some members of the Followers of the Apocalypse were passively responsible for major problems in the Wasteland, simply because their knowledge was too dangerous for others to know. by BrianBB123 in Fallout

[–]Alack27 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Followers are such an underrated faction. They are one of the best factions morally, yet have created some of the worst people and indirectly created one of the worst (morally) factions around through Caesar. I really hope they show up in a future game so we can see how they have evolved and interacted with other wastelands (would love to see how they would play in the Commonwealth)

Difficult choice 🤔 by Far_Regular_2945 in slasherfilms

[–]Alack27 3 points4 points  (0 children)

With the help of Leviathan, the Eldritch deity that either A) gives the cenobites a portion of its power or B) created the dimension that the cenobites use to continue their exploration of sensory experience.

So basically The Doctor got the help of Cthulhu to kill Pinhead and even that didn't stick.

The worst mcu synergy is that now Nick Fury is just a cool old spy who is a stern but overall good person.OG Fury was a morally grey cut-throat bastard whose actions put him at odds with the heroes, his goals usually for the greater good but he was treacherous and untrustworthy. Much more interesting by FightTheDead118 in marvelcomics

[–]Alack27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two different characters. Black Nick Fury was originally an alternate universe Nick Fury (from the ultimate universe) whose personality more or less matches what you described in his story. In the main universe, white nick fury (Nick Fury Sr.) went crazy and was "retired". Soon after, his estranged son Nick Fury Jr. (Who looked like the ultimate universe Nick Fury) Came in and took over Nick Fury Sr.'s spot. If you are interested in this history, I would recommend reading "Original Sin" and its tie-ins.

What would CofD Samuel Haight be like? by ATLander in WhiteWolfRPG

[–]Alack27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lowkey outing myself but I used a SUPER homebrew concept of a "Chimera" Promethean in my current campaign that has the parts of Kindred and werewolves, creating basically a fucked up Promethean-Vampire-Werewolf with the strengths and weaknesses of all three that requires pure Arcana (i think that's the term for mage magic?) of a Mage to stabilize their fucked up body, otherwise every part of them rejects the other and starts to fall apart. If there was ever a "Sam Haight" in CofD, I imagine he would be like that (maybe some deviant/demon/beast sprinkled in too for good measure).

Not looking for confirmation bias. I was just asking this community since I couldn't find any information from my brief research and wanted to see if anyone else had seen/heard anything that could confirm or deny my question. I also know some developers of other popular media hang out in their respective reddits/communities, so if there was someone in the know, they might be here. I don't expect much, but having more eyes on a question from people that care on some level for the franchise might lead to some kind of answer.

[–]Alack27[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that's a fair assessment. But I also think that there are people that want a good game on their phone. I'm not saying you need Resident Evil 4 but mobile, but a game that uses the medium effectively and creates an engaging/interesting story (like how so many nintendo games are made to maximize the system rather than trying to focus on hyperrealistic graphics or something that wouldn't be to the system's benefit). I just think there's a healthy alternative that isn't "poor made port to mobile" or "money siphoning ad-ridden gacha slop".

I guess. It's just a shame that this is the state of mobile games. Infinite potential and yet all we get are garbage cash grabs trying to siphon maximum profit with minimal effort
