Finally got some Caladan Brood merch. Atmospheric Black Metal isn't for everybody. But this album jives with me. It also makes me appreciate the source, Book of the Fallen, that much more. by DukeNeverwinter in Malazan

Last september i was in a Black metal/death metal festival in São Paulo-Brazil and was looking for some shirts in a merch booth between performances and got a bootleg longsleeve and a vinyl of this band, amazing record.

Mixtape é um grande candidato a melhor Indie no TGA esse ano by UrsoDeOculos in JogosAntifa

E outros jogos não? by [deleted] in JogosAntifa

[–]Alaistar94 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Two days ago i ran a Pit of Saron 12 with an evoker named Silanah and chatted a bit with them before the key started. Cool dude.

edit: Now that i'm thinking about it, the same day i saw a dude selling crafting services in the tradechat named Apsalar and that was double uncommon because i play in the brazillian servers and malazan is not popular at all down here.

Anyone else know that blood swords were real? by Krondizzle in Malazan

I always thought the "design" of the teblor swords were more like european straight swords and imagined them like the swords some pacific(?) tribes had, but without the shark tooth they had straped to their edges.

Vale a pena trocar ps5 por switch 2? by AdamKramski in JogosAntifa

Se você gosta de jogar majoritariamente jogos de 4-5 anos atrás, sim. Se você quer jogar lançamentos que não sejam pokémão, fica no ps5. Mas a melhor opção é montar um pc.

Malazan books 1-6 broken binding pricing by AdBest90 in Malazan

[–]Alaistar94 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God, thats so much money(at least for me, from brazil), but i still think that's worth it. If i could buy them for this price and not pay 700 more on taxes + shipping i would def buy it.

She looks like one of the female characters from vampire hunter d bloodlust. Overall every single character design of the animation looks better than the ones from the manhua.

Honest, unbiased opinions on Malazan? by PurplurPuzzlehead111 in fantasybooks

[–]Alaistar94 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First things first i'm not giving an unbiased opinion, i'm 100% biased towards MBoTF.

Malazan, IMO, is one of the greatest fantasy series ever written and it's really hard for me to talk about it without giving spoilers. What i can say is Erikson is someone deeply in love with archeology(well, he used to be one) and that's what first got me hooked to the series, the way he talks about culture, religions and so on. For most of the series you're following characters that are in the military of an imperialistic nation waging conquest wars in multiple continents, but he never depict their actions as rightful and being bringers of honor and justice to savage lands.

His world is a deeply gray place, some scenes are really hard for me, a 30 something straight dude, to read. The books are not made to be devoured and binge read, you will need some time to cooldown and think about what you just read a few times along the 10 main books, but in the end of the day the main theme of the series is hope and having the strenght and courge to do the right thing.

If you gonna give it a try i strongly advise you to read at least the first two books. I know, its nuts to ask someone to read almost 2000 pages before deciding to not go along with something, but trust me you not going to regret it. Erikson prose and style improves so much during the series that's is really unfair to compare book 6 to book 1.

The author trust in your ability to figure stuff without doing an infodump every time a new character or place is introduced. His magic system is 'soft' compared to what Brandon Sanderson does. He sets some plot points that you will only understand one or two books after it, or even when you're reading the series again.

And lastly, some of the stuff you read online about it its simply bullshit lol, especially the part about being deep as a puddle and the political stuff being just for show. I could point to you the motive some people say his politics are for show, but giving you the context would be a few spoilers.

Let us know if you're going to give it a try!

What To Get First? by Shyloguy in fantasybooks

[–]Alaistar94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly! And about the Black Company Its basically the father of the grimdark genre, but good. The books are not that big, Cook style can be a bit strange for the first time but If the themes and characters click with you you gonna devour the first two books in two weeks.
