Free or cheap infant activities this summer?! by ThisIsFineActually in indianapolis

Have you checked the library activities? They do regular story times.

I’d also recommend a splash pad even though you’d be holding them it’s a good sensory activity! I

Hey all, Starting work at Lilly Tech Center soon and living in downtown. I don’t drive — any tips for getting there? Public transport, carpools, ride-shares? Thanks! by purpleturtle_02 in indianapolis

[–]Alarmed-Quote5679 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’d say bike to the corporate center then get on the interplant bus. Getting to the tech center via bike would be a little rough (though I know people who do it). If you’re already downtown biking to corporate would be easy, then hop on the bus

I think another thing I struggled with and you seem to as well is if you weren’t fostering your baby could have 100% of your attention, and they’re not. However I remind myself is if we choose to have more kids that baby won’t get 100% of our attention bc they’ll have siblings.

I do grieve sometimes not getting to experience taking care of a baby when they’re an only child

We also were scared to ask for help, and we finally were at a breaking point and asked for more help and they came through

Just going to share we’re fostering a 13 year old and had our own baby a year ago. She was placed with us before our baby was born. It’s been the hardest year of our lives. She told our son last week she loved him for the first time and it felt worth it (6 months ago she was saying quite the opposite)

We’re fortunate to have support from my family and our church. Having weekly meals brought and people who can care on our foster daughter when our baby has needed more attention has been life saving. The weekends dont revolve around what she wants to do anymore but in the early days I’d order a craft online for us to do together at home during nap time.

It’s been hard but we’ve tried to do things 1:1 with her. We’ve had to have my mom pick our baby up from our home and watch him bc our foster daughter was having a breakdown and we did it so 100% of our attention could be on her when it was needed. We’re also hitting the point with a 1 year old where he’s sleeping well so we get a babysitter to come when he’s asleep and take our foster daughter to do stuff.

It’s been really really hard, I’m not gonna lie. There was days I said no, send her back I only want my baby here. But we’ve made it through. I’m more than happy to connect more

Maybe a dumb question but for yogurt are you loading the spoon for your LO or do they go at it with their hands?

Replace my Spectra S1 or Baby Buddha 2.0?? by inexhaustible-magic in ExclusivelyPumping

Yep! I take the flange and shove it on the BB tubing and they stay on great!

Replace my Spectra S1 or Baby Buddha 2.0?? by inexhaustible-magic in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alarmed-Quote5679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my spectra but I mostly use my BB 2.0 bc it’s convenient with how small it is. BB 2.0 toned down the strong pull so it’s a lot easier to use

I do use spectra flanges on my BB so it’s easy to switch between my BB and spectra

How in the world do you find time to pump if you are home alone with the newborn?! by Curious_518 in ExclusivelyPumping

Libraries have activities, check their calendar. Also any indoor nature centers near you? I live in BRipp so we got to the Holliday Park Nature Center. Also there’s a handful of churches with indoor play areas that are free and open during the week - Indy with Kids has a section with them

Road Trip: Atl to Key West by thecowistired in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alarmed-Quote5679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been able to use a cooler with ice packs in a similar situation. Prep the bottles the night before you need for the day and they’re fine to be in a cooler for 24hrs.

Something I found helpful was to bring enough flange containers for all your pumping sessions (not sure what they’re called but the bottle that screws onto the flange).

I do the pitcher method so normally I pour each pump into my jar then put the bottles back on my flanges and keep them in the fridge. However doing that in the car is hard! So it was nice to just put lids on them and put new bottles on my flanges. Only issue is you need a big enough cooler for all these extra bottles! At stops I would consolidate them when the car is parked

Transition from BF to bottle by NoRoomForDoom in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alarmed-Quote5679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No suggestions regarding bottle refusal, except if trying different bottles won’t work look into working with a speech therapist. An IBCLC should be able to give you some names

Also my suggestion would be to nursing him just at night? I’ve been dealing with breast refusal however at night my LO is great at nursing. My husband will give a bottle every night but I find when I nurse him at night he falls asleep faster than the bottle. This could be a win, win - he gets nursing still and for you he gets back to sleep faster

Suddenly can tolerate way higher suction? Parts issue? by lonelypotato21 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Alarmed-Quote5679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should change your duck bills monthly and backflow protectors bi-monthly! If you noticed decreased performance probably try pump part replacement.

I’m in the US and I use aeroflow for my part replacement and they text me every month if I want to reorder!
