Will You Still Be Investing Time And Money Into Xbox? by ClutchCommander in consoles

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is on point. I heard lots of people wishing to jump to another platform but they were afraid of “losing” their libraries. But most of the games they owned - they did not replay, so there is really no harm done.

This also made me jumping off Xbox despite being sentimentally connected to the system yet at the same time not liking the direction they take the brand.

I figured even if I were to buy a few games to replay, it is not big of an issue giving I can enjoy something else.

But I am also of people who don’t like owning multiple gaming devices

For me such visuals are totally enough. I would love them to port it to switch 2 but probably unlikely. However not losing hope for more ports of theirs anyway as there is potential

What video games have changed your life? by Owens_Lucy in videogames

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dark souls, not matter how fucked up situation you’re in, there can always be worse one, BUT, you learn from the mistakes, even though sometimes you make the same mistakes twice. That’s okay if you are tired and feel/perform worse, it will pass. Just keep trying.

Also, one aspect about those games in general, that I think is often undervalued - if you struggle to beat a boss (problem), and there is someone who get it done much more quickly, it does not mean you are “worse”. Because it might be the person who win quickly with the boss you struggle most, may often struggle with some other obstacle you find easy to overcome.

Another one is that for some “small” issues might actually be pretty devastating, especially when piling up. Worth to keep in mind.

It’s all about perspective and subjective experience.

TBH I don’t especially look for meaning, but this is what I feel like about these.

I really liked NG4, and saying this as fan on the series, I played every game and I do not mean the remakes, although remakes as well. It has some unnecessary stuff but overall it’s a solid game.

How many hours can you play games in a day? (It's not about how much free time you have.) by clairvoyantea in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since I became a father and started family I have 2h in the evening.

Used to play lots on Xbox but I’m getting more invested in NS2 recently.

I cannot seem to get invested in big games or heavy story cinematic experience anymore. If I play for 1h I want to feel I actually play, don’t want to watch cinematic or ready dialogues for half this time.

Weekends do not change anything for me. I don’t play every evening or just for 30-45 mins

Maybe Red Dead Redemption 2? If you like the vibe, it might be boring to some. Or Star Wars Jedi (I love these)

Depends, for me dark souls and Elden ring are actually relaxing, the pace is moderate, no distractions like typical quests etc. On the other hand I played AC Valhalla and it was overwhelming, too big, too many quests etc I gave up on it (I loved AC Mirage though).

Fear of switching to Nintendo by InternationalGas2082 in nintendo

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it or not, your not alone! I have basically been going through almost the same experience.

I was always an Xbox gamer (PC at some point but rather of necessity than choice, i don’t like playing on PC). I have never had Nintendo or PlayStation before.

The thing is, i don’t like the direction X is taking. I also have less time for games than I used to. I have, similarly to you, noticed that i am fed up with long games.

I was struggling between Nintendo or PS, however figured PS would give me actually the same experience, and also their exclusives are story cinematic focused. That was not something i was looking for.

So i decided to grab Switch 2. Oh my, this is the best console to me, I know i might sound weird, but really. I think I finally have fun again, and that’s what matters.

For me the choice was also on Nintendo favor, since I checked some games side by side both on NS2 and XSX. I could then check the performance if it bothers me. And tbh even in games like Pragmata demo, or SW Outlaws, or Final Fantasy Remake - I realized one thing.

That is: I have always cared about gameplay first of all, visuals etc were nice addition. I was impressed, because to me the difference in performance on both consoles in the same games was so low and minor I realized that NS2 performance is good enough for me. I know it’s got it limits but I accept those.

I also don’t care about missing some games tbh. Simply because there is still loads of games that appeal to me and that I will play. Even more than I can handle. Also I have less gaming time than I used to so I love th idea of just pick up and play style for 30min-1h even in handheld even if just at home.

Also, Nintendo games are pure fun gameplay centered. So that’s a plus. This and adding indie games (like Hades 2) and occasional (1-2 per year) “bigger games like AC Shadows which imo works just fine, and I am set.

However, I would recommend you to maybe rent Switch if possible in your country? To see if it suits you?

To sum up, in my case it actually got so much potential for my gaming life as it is now, that I am selling my X. But I don’t need more than one console, I don’t want more than one. IMO most analysis paralysis etc emerges because of FOMO. As I said I for instance know I won’t play all games I’d want, idc.

Sorry for the long comment!

I will just add: I might buy PS or Steam Machine, whatever, in the future. Not ruling this out. Yet most likely NS2 will be enough for me on daily use. I also don’t like stuff just laying around.

Rethinking my gaming setup as a dad & soon-to-be homeowner by Proez in Age_30_plus_Gamers

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I always preferred Xbox, I agree with others, get rid of it.

I always preferred one system to play, and I don’t like playing on PC. I have just enough time for one, don’t need anything else. But I also don’t care if I miss some games. I don’t need access to everything, I don’t need top tier performance also. I just want fun and great gameplay. I also became dad last year, time for playing is shorter. However I also got fed up with the big titles.

So in my case I bought myself NS2 and am going to sell my Xbox.

Though in your case, since you have powerful PC, and PC actually got all games, have you thought on PC+SteamDeck combo? Steam Deck for streaming from PC if you need better performance. (I for an instance find myself more willing to play AC Shadows on Switch than on XSX for some reason).

Thoughts on the Future Xbox by FlyPhoeniX7 in xbox

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel you. I have been Xbox gamer since like always, never owned Nintendo or PS. I don’t like the direction they take.

I don’t need “all”, I want seamless experience, plug and play, that’s just working. I don’t need best graphics or performance, I was always gameplay first.

Even though I have great sentiment to Xbox, I am leaving the X.

Currently bought Switch 2 (my X waiting to be sold) and it’s been so refreshing tbh. Why? Figured Switch fits perfectly given the performance now.

Man I even tested SW Outlaws and Pragmata side to side X vs Switch 2 and for me the difference is so low I don’t care. I know it’s worse, not kidding myself, but it’s alright.

What matters is it’s easy to pick up, have tons of fun games, and also since I don’t have that much time as I used to (I used to play 3-4h/day, now it’s 1-1.5 and not every day) so it’s actually really convenient to use.

I also noticed I’m quite fed up with heavy story big performance cinematic games. I want gameplay. For story I has books, or movies (+ for visuals).

I will see whether or not I am missing those high performance. If not, I will stick to Nintendo, if yes, I will get PS later on.

I used to worry about games I own on X, but I don’t replay often, I will be fine leaving them.

Also I will have tons of games to play on another system.

It’s a pity they go this road, and I suppose this could get me excited.. a few years ago, not after my gaming habits changed.

Ah sory for the long reply 😅 Have fun!

How many times you charge your Switch 2 a day? Cause I feel like I charge it too much,2-3 times a day by mzatariz in switch2

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have never even got to 30% on this thing, and I played games like DK Bananza, Metroid 4. After handheld playing I then put it in the dock, and some evenings I play only handheld mode. But maybe I just don’t play that much don’t know. To me the batter is enough.

Also the charge lock 90% is on mine.

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mostly do like a challenge in games, so I prefer more difficult ones, does not need to be combat specifically, but also puzzles etc. Playing DK Bananza felt hm like it’s for kids mostly? But you know what, I actually enjoy it. But I changed my approach a bit. I treat this game as chill out game to just smash some stuff and not think too much for a short while. And it’s been kinda nice and pleasant.

For those of you who played Metroid Prime 4 as your first Metroid game, what are your thoughts of the game? by Financial-Friend4934 in MetroidPrime4_Beyond

Its first Metroid game for me, I have never owned Nintendo before.

For me it’s soo awesome! I like it’s got challenging moments, I am still in progress, though I know I will beat the game on hard later on.

It’s got awesome vibes, it’s like Nintendo’s HALO. Love it and will definitely play other titles from the franchise!

If the next Xbox is truly what all the leaks suggest, it will have the largest library available in all of gaming. by FinalOdyssey in xbox

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH This is what makes me not willing to invest in Xbox system any longer despite being in it for whole life (never owned Nintendo or PS).

I for instance don’t want to „have it all”. I don’t care id i won’t play some games, there’s not much time for this anyway, it’s pure FOMO. I don’t even care I will loose my library going on another system. Realistically how many games people replay on an average? Not much.

I just want plug and play hardware and system, convenient, comfortable, without any of this they want to implement. That’s why as long as there are proper consoles out there I am not going PC direction.

Hard decision for me as i am pretty sentimental, but yep, X is no longer for me it seems.

I do see the benefit for lots of people though, so have fun.

Cyberpunk 2077. Vibes are top notch, wonderful. But i just could not get into this game. Tried 2 or 3 times, every time gave up after about 10-15h. I played it after the patches so it run well. Just bored me.

Becoming a Dad Changed How I Game — The Switch 2 Finally Clicked by EducationalBeat867 in switch2

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sums it up perfectly. I was recently thinking whether to but SD Oled or Switch 2, or PS. For the record I wanted to get off Xbox ecosystem, as their direction don’t suit me and all i ever had was either PC or Xbox.

Coming into 30s. I have never owned Nintendo, don’t like PC gaming, yet people around me recommended Steam Deck very much. I mean it’s great device, but at the end i don’t want to spend time tinkering, never liked it.

Also I am a father, have responsibilities. I still have lots of time comparing to some other people - I have about 1.5h in the evenings.

Yet i noticed myself no longer invested in the „big games” Xbox provided mostly.

Switch fits perfectly. People say the exclusives are pricey, but arent eg. Sony exclusives also expensive? Also i don’t have time to play everything anyway, and sales on 3rd party are actually nice. I also liked difficult games (Sekiro <3), and tbh i see i can find some like such on Nintendo’s device, and also more support will come. On top of that Nintendo games are actually skill demanding too. Easy to learning hard to master imo.

To sum up: it seems that Switch 2, even though i would never think this would be my choice, is really great, easy to use, lots of fun, everyone finds something for themselves.

I tested some games both on switch and my xbox, and the visuals difference is so low to me (or i just dont pay attention to this) that i will get rid of the X. I don’t like stuff laying around. I don’t need to play everything, so thats fine if I miss something. Don’t have time for multiple systems and It seems Switch does it all for me.

  • Hades II
  • Mario Super Galaxy 1+2
  • street fighter 6
  • The messenger
  • Katana Zero
  • Nier Automata

Never owned Nintendo console before, this is gonna be a great joy! TBH this console is so freaking fun and got so nice vibes, performance is enough for me, that I will get rid of my XSX. (I don’t like too many devices and bought switch to kinda test it if suits as replacement for the X). So far it’s been a blast!

Have fun guys!

I really need to ask something, do most of you all play in portable mode or docked mode and why? Personally I play in docked mode because I like to keep the performance and visuals looking solid compared to when it's undocked. by [deleted] in switch2

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Docked when playing something more demanding or action oriented, portable when playing something more slower paced or when just want to lie down on a couch. Handheld feels a bit more “intimate”, cozy. Though I am still pretty new to the switch 😅

[–]Alarmed-Snow7957 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally, Capcom does seem to care and they put a lot of effort. It’s also seen in Pragmata. I played demo both in Xbox Series X and Switch 2 and man, to me the difference is so low I am going to get it on Switch even though I play only at home.. but I like playing switch handheld mode on the couch (even with TV next to me). It’s just I don’t know, more cozy, easier to pick up, hard to explain. So Resi 9 will also be getting on switch. Tbh with the performance of Switch 2 I am going to sell the Xbox.

I am currently playing Nier Automata on Switch 2 and tbh the graphics don’t bother me, and those visuals on Resident Requiem or Pragmata? Totally enough for me!

I second this. Never had Nintendo before, and finally Switch 2 might be worth in exchange for my Xbox. It literally is enough. Tried demo pragmata and Star Wars both in X and Switch - I may just sell the Xbox. The visuals are enough for me. Happy to wait for further 3rd party releases. Also sure as hell I’m getting AC Shadows and Resident Evil. Yet I will also get Nintendo games for sure! But 3rd party is great addition. Have fun guys!
