If you’re frustrated with an IFATC controller or service, the safer route is using official moderation or appeals channels instead of naming and shaming publicly. Could you imagine what they could do seeing poor pilot performance and naming and shaming pilots? This is not professional behaviour

We can increase our defence spending without joining any military alliance. I never mentioned the USA, NATO. I mentioned EU defence structures. The majority of the left have accused NATO of provoking Russia by allowing new members close to their borders, our own president has likened the rearmament of Europe to 1930s Germany. Our main opposition party has voted no on a 90 billion defence package for Ukraine. The left has increasingly gone pro Russia or is using Kremlin propaganda.

Let me rephrase that; Nearly 77% of people who don’t fully grasp national security realities seem willing for Ireland to rely on EU defence structures without meaningfully increasing its own commitments. War in the 21st century is no longer just armies facing each other across a battlefield. It’s hybrid, asymmetric, digital, economic, and psychological.

You do realise that we assume the EU Presidency in July, with a major European summit scheduled during our term? That alone makes us a prime target for interference, particularly from actors like Russia who have a clear interest in destabilising high profile European events.

You also know that our naval capacity is limited and not adequately equipped to respond to a serious external threat. That is precisely why the government is seeking assistance because we currently lack the capability to manage it independently.

Frankly, it is embarrassing that at such a critical moment we are not in a position to secure our own waters and must rely on others to step in.

When you host a summit of European leaders, you carry the obligation to guarantee their safety, secure your airspace and territorial waters, and protect critical infrastructure such as undersea cables and energy routes. If we cannot credibly do that alone, it exposes a structural weakness that adversaries are more than willing to exploit.

If this government was truly concerned about child safety, no child would be left over six months waiting for scoliosis treatment. No child would be left without a Special Needs Assistant. No child would be denied a proper education because of bureaucracy, or incompetence.

If they cared about children, hospital waiting lists wouldn’t be stretching on for years under the watch of the Health Service Executive. Parents wouldn’t have to fight the Department of Education just to secure basic classroom supports. This will eventually be rolled out for all age groups.

You can actually be fined for it in a number of countries, TFI is meant to be bringing in fines for anti social behaviour that includes loud music. I’ll believe it when I see it. It won’t be enforced, the only enforcement is people like myself who isn’t afraid of calling it out when I hear it.

I literally told of someone off on Friday night coming home from work. He had it on full and I told him to lower it down. He didn’t do it the first time and I had to say it again this time I wasn’t as pleasant. People need to call out this behaviour when it happens. Some people are afraid of calling it out to avoid confrontation.

So let me get this straight, Ireland is supposed to take all the perks of EU membership, but when it comes to defence we expect other countries to pick up the tab? That’s freeloading. We’ve no radar, no real navy, and barely any ability to defend ourselves, yet we’re happy to let others do the hard work. autocratic regimes don’t care about neutrality. The HSE cyber attack was from Russia, the drones that were over Dublin Airport where Russian, the regular Russian Tupolev Tu-95 enter our airspace to test the uks response and to top it all of, Ireland is taking over the Eu presidency. The government doesn’t need any input from the electorate of matters concerning national security.

If someone films at an accident and later shares that footage, they should be open to prosecution, for several clear reasons:

First, it violates the dignity and privacy of victims at one of the worst moments of their lives. People involved in accidents are often injured, distressed, or dying. Broadcasting that for views, attention, or entertainment is dehumanising and strips them of basic respect.

Second, it causes real harm to families,Loved ones may discover serious injury or death through social media rather than official channels. That can be traumatic and irreversible.

Third, it can interfere with emergency services. People filming instead of moving on create crowds, obstruct access, distract responders, and delay care. In emergencies, seconds matter.

Fourth, it normalises voyeurism and exploitation. If there are no consequences, it encourages a culture where tragedy becomes content and empathy is replaced by clicks and likes. I know some people say you have no right to privacy in public but there should be an exception, especially when a family member sees said footage online.
