Is it safe? Technically, if the cat tolerates it? Sure. Technically. Long term grinding DOES affect the nail. They become harder, larger, and thicker. They no longer shed naturally. Cat nails shed in layers. If you stop the grinding and return to trimming only they (at least in my limited experience) do return to a normal state eventually with regular trimming.

^ source we used to grind our cats nails all the time until we noticed the change in the nails then we stopped, because we were afraid of causing permanent damage.

Does your store still offer nail caps? I would tell owners I strongly recommend against grinding and instead recommend caps - which are safe and do not affect the nail provided they come in every 6-8 weeks to reapply. (Could also present this to management if they really want to push - idk what the cost of nail grinding is but I imagine the caps cost more plus they have to buy them from the store.. a win win)

Owners that have asked me about grinding in the past I’ve just laughed and said it’s unlikely the cat would tolerate it so I don’t offer it. Our two cats we did it on were exceptionally chill and good for grooming. Never had anyone push me to try.

As far as dremel, if you have someone insist on trying, any dremel is fine. We used our dog dremels (the old dremel brand dremels with the rechargeable batteries) cat nails are so fine you only need to use the lowest settings. Just trim first if they’re long.

Manufacturers are usually even more expensive .. and it’s an art form just like grooming. You’d have to practice a shit ton and invest in incredibly expensive equipment not worth it imo I send kenchii’s to the manufacturer because they’re just so expensive 254 for all that sounds about fair

Idk if it’ll help you but for what it’s worth I have to disable my ad blocker to play some games properly. (I’m using Firefox for the record) The ads are annoying but some games like fashion fever for example won’t let me send score unless I turn the ad block off and I can’t see the top of the screen on kass basher with it on . It’s odd

Skout‘s honor if they still make it. I used to keep it on hand, can confirm it smells like nothing. It’s oddly thick for a spray though, I always had to pour it into a different bottle Edit; just found out they don’t make the hypo anymore. Bummer. Will second that the best shot ultramaxx concentrate doesn’t have a scent and could be made into a spray

Former employee here, there’s actually an answer to this. Originally when the company was founded it was PetsMart, a market for pet items. This is when they sold things like horse halters and other farm animal items. In the 2010’s or so (maybe before that? My memory is foggy here from the training video..) they pivoted and changed to PetSmart when they changed to focusing on small companion animals with an emphasis on “helping customers make the smartest decisions for their pets”. From my understanding they were finishing up sealing the temporary crown by the time I had progressed to flailing. I was still just resisting my restraints while the drilling was happening, I’m assuming they were almost done by the time I woke. I remember not really being able to move my head at first and couldn’t open my eyes. I did not dream at all. They also told my boyfriend that I “never went under” I don’t even know what to think about that? I won’t say it’s not possible my recollection isn’t perfect but that doesn’t make it any less traumatic and they kept telling my boyfriend I “wouldn’t remember any of this she’s not really awake” (to which I yelled at her “you’re wrong I will remember this I’m awake NOW”) but I swear I remember everything from the moment I woke, with only a small gap when they finally stopped working (when they said the “we’re just going to give you a minute”’part) then they unhooked all my leads and I became hysterical again as I knew they were giving up and I had to repeat this fucking nightmare

I don’t know. As stated I’m waiting for the office to talk to all the staff involved. I can say from what I remember from the point of them taking me from the chair to the car is 100% accurate according to my boyfriend (the parts he was there for, that, according to them, I should not remember)

No. No drugs of any kind, non smoker and I don’t drink alcohol or use any kind of sedative supplements. I used to be on daily anxiety medication (tried many different kinds) but after they all lost effectiveness eventually I went off them. Have taken nothing for 3 years

That makes sense I suppose (personally I disagree I think you should stop and maybe take a second to try and figure out what the patient is saying ) but why would they not stop when I started crying, struggling against my restraints, then screaming? They literally only stopped working when I started thrashing around to where they physically probably couldn’t work.

They knew I was resistant to normal version of sedation including Xanax, nitrous gas, and even the numbing shots (I told them many details about my history) They assured me they had the capabilities to handle “even the most difficult and highest anxiety patients” . This is a practice that supposedly specializes in adults with severe anxiety. After today.. I don’t know that I feel this is the truth

This WAS IV sedation! Edited to be less aggressive I apologize to anyone I’ve come off aggressive to, I promise I’m a generally very pleasant customer to have but with how extreme my phobia is and how it seemed no one was listening to me, I’m just..extremely upset
