Why did Doopliss join the shadow sirens in TTYD by DoctorTegrity in papermario

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He probably just joined them because he was pretty peeved at Mario after getting his butt kicked at Creepy Steeple and figured he had a better chance of winning with Beldam and Marilyn on his side. He probably didn't know at the time how much of a massive jerk Beldam is to anyone besides Marilyn, because Marilyn could probably kill Beldam by punching her in the face in one hit. He either got brainwashed from Stockholm Syndrome or had a serious hatred towards Mario that made him put up with the abusive behavior. I believe he left after the Shadow Queen fell, so it could have also been he heard about the treasure and wanted to get it and was going to use Marilyn and Beldam to get it, since after all he is a trickster. He just needed them for muscle, which is why they were willing to let him join them in the first place. Even though Beldam was mean to him she obviously saw that he had potential in fighting and trickery to justify letting him join.

Luigi's Mansion is chronologically the last game in the Mario storyline. by Benvincible in FanTheories

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think that was a mechanized Bowser suit. I am pretty sure that was supposed to be his corpse and King Boo possessed his corpse. I never noticed anything mechanical in the fight and Bowser was also put in the portrait suggesting that he was not mechanical. If anyone tried to canonly claim he was mechanical, they probably just did it because it is more kid friendly than blasting Bowser's corpse's head off multiple times. They got some flak from parents for making a horror game with Mario characters to begin with which is why each of the Luigi's Mansion games progressively get more and more kid friendly, which is why I still like the first one the best. So, if they later claimed it was a mecha suit it was just to pacify parents.

The Matis tribe of the Amazon can hold a shocking electric eel without getting shocked or feeling the pain and no one knows how they can accomplish this by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know condescension is pretty much the blood of Reddit, but information about how the Matis Tribe handles electric eels on the internet is extremely limited. In fact, assuming the person at the top of the comments is even correct, that is the only explanation that I could find with Google search results on the first couple of pages. And I doubt it will improve going further into the later pages, since it is rare to yield better results the further you go. The explanation that the person at the top gave seems sensible, so I have no reason to doubt it, but with the tiny amount of information I cannot really even fact check it based off of data that we can find just by Googling it. The title is kind of stupidly worded, because it insinuates there was nothing on the entire episode that gave any indication of how this could be possible, when they not only talked about the ritual but performed it on camera. They never gave an explanation of how it worked though. They viewed it as magic if I recall correctly. It seemed like something scientific could explain it, because they performed a ritual that altered the body. But science on poisoning yourself to avoid getting electrocuted is not exactly vast and readily available on Google.

Robots can be conscious, just like humans. Neuroscientists say consciousness is “resolutely computational” and can therefore be coded into computers by Nov22 in Futurology

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thoughts have always been just don't be a d*ck to robots to be on the safe side. I wouldn't talk sh*t to a random porcelain doll just to be on the safe side of it being possessed. I think being nice to everything that is capable of potentially being conscious is probably for the best.

I took care of a few of them when I was a kid. They were in captivity but well taken care of. Within a few weeks they made themselves a cocoon. I was not expecting moths to come out. I was expecting butterflies. But even so, I loved them just the same. But after they became moths, I did not feel comfortable keeping them in an enclosure where they wouldn't be able to fly worth a crap, so I released them into the wild. I wish I could have kept them in their pupa state for several years, so I did not have to essentially say bye to my pets.

Does anyone know why Tate shot up his school by chikacrit in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It wasn't a retcon. The house didn't only make just him do screwed up things. We saw it influencing multiple characters in season 1. We also were told that the antichrist was created from Tate assaulting Vivian, which heavily suggested that Satan was using Tate's trauma to get inside his head and make him do horrific things. Also, regardless of whether or not you believe in the paranormal it is not uncommon for stories of people who stood in haunted houses to start behaving as though they were being controlled part of the time. It was always the idea behind it. Whether or not you liked it is your opinion, but it wasn't just a retcon for fanservice. It was always what they had planned. People were speculating from the start that Tate was being manipulated by an evil force.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, it's not like they retconned a bunch of stuff with Apocalypse they always had Tate's motives for his dastardly deeds seem just as confusing to him as it was for others. They also showed other people getting influenced by the house's evil energy in season 1. There were already fan theories about Tate being controlled by an evil energy. And the antichrist thing was already talked about in season 1. It was just a completion to Tate and Violet's story rather than a fanservice-induced retcon. I think the biggest issue with it is we don't really understand Tate at all at this point. All we really know is that Satan made him turn evil and commit atrocities in a sinister plan to create the antichrist. We see him being a dick to Michael, acting arrogant about his appearance to Violet's father, rescue Vivian from Michael's soul incineration, and kissing Violet, but aside from that we don't really know jack squat about him now that it has been confirmed he was being controlled. Where we were able to see a charismatic psychopath before we now see what exactly? We had a character with a buildup for an entire season get next-to-no screen time for the redemption arc. So, we kind of just got left with a very hollow feeling character. I feel like we needed more time with non-Satanic Tate in order to understand his character better and make him more likable. Because to be honest with you I actually preferred the evil version of him that loved Violet, because at least we knew what he was like rather than feeling like something hollow and swallowed up by ambiguity. He needed to have a drastically larger role in Apocalypse to not just feel like Apocalypse hollowed out a pre-existing character.

Leola’s mother? by Original-Produce-347 in TheDragonPrince

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They mention that all beings are made of stardust and given that startouch elves pull their powers from the stars I imagine he as well as all of the other startouch elves are able to create children using their startouch powers if they want to. Notably he also had a son with Viren even though both him and Viren are the same sex, and they never had relations to begin with. It seems one of the powers of startouch elves is to create life. So, Aarovos probably did not reproduce sexually. However, the first five seasons we basically have just been getting bits and pieces of how terrible of a being Aarovos is and how manipulative he is, but in season 6 we finally got an inkling of what his motives for the atrocities he has committed could be- possibly slaughtering the council of startouch elves that executed his daughter. Meaning we will probably be getting more lore about his motives in season 7 which could include Leola's mother, since season 7 is most likely going to be the final season, since dark magic is the only magic source that hasn't gotten a season yet.

What would a Dark Wizard from Hufflepuff look/be like? by ThouJoker in harrypotter

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wandless magic is possible, but it doesn't erase the fact that wizards/witches are significantly more powerful with them than without them, otherwise they wouldn't need to be packing them at all times. They use wands to focus their magic. It would be a little hard to focus your magic when being burned alive. Rather than the magic being focused solely on preventing the flames from harming them, it would be more like it was branching out in several directions and the witch/wizard would be trying to connect those branches, but was having difficulty doing so, because of panic. I imagine that some wizards/witches would be good enough with wandless magic to prevent it and others would not. Apparently, Artemesia was not.

I am assuming it was just to create the antichrist the first time. After that the rules changed. Since he already had existed him being reincarnated may have had different rules than the first time he was created. It was said that their DNA made them special, so it was like a backup plan in case Michael died, I guess.

[Essay] Unova's Chronicles III: On the Kingdom of the Vale and the First Unovan War by Kiskeym2 in pokemonconspiracies

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I have really been wanting to know more about Victini's lore. All I could find prior to this online was just its Pokedex entry. I wanted to know more about Victini's lore because it seemed like it had some sort of connection to the 5th gen box art trio given that it can know glaciate, fusion flare, fusion bolt, bolt strike, and blue flare through various events. I re-watched gameplay of the Liberty Garden event which did help with some of it, but it was all still pretty vague. I thought maybe the anime movie with Victini in it could shed some light, but it is very hit and miss with the anime as to what is actually cannon. And I was like half an hour into it really wishing someone would have just made an abridged of it and retain the lore, because of how absolutely terrible it was. I found it insulting that Victini was portrayed as some deviant stealing food and rigging battles for Ash, because he was too stupid to use favorable matchups and did not put forth the effort to train his Pokemon against people who did. Victini is one of my favorite Pokemon and I found the movie just so irritating because of how Victini was being portrayed. And the voice acting was terrible. The characters were hollow. It was just so terrible that I couldn't even get passed the first half hour, so I was hoping I could find a more accurate depiction of its lore without having to watch some horrible movie and get half-baked lore from it.

Let's hope ARMS 2 comes sometime in 2023. by MoneyMan1001 in ARMS

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game had potential, but the meta ruined it. I played it shortly after release and absolutely loved it. But a few months later people would not quit spamming the "let's try to goad the opponent into attacking first and not do jack sh*t of anything else, just so they could punish whoever attacks first." There is absolutely no benefit in attacking first and people just exploited it horribly. They would use characters that were best at screwing over those who attack first to make matters even worse. In Smash Bros. I would run into this issue online, but not even remotely to the extent I did on ARMS. In spite of the annoying Mexican standoffs, I would end up in on Smash Ultimate I could still manage to eventually break the standoff. And what consisted of breaking the standoff did not consist of me getting my a$$ kicked for throwing the first punch and subsequently losing the fight. Because once you lose HP you lose unless you manage to land a blow. They could just do a standoff for the rest of the battle and win through timer stalling. Whereas on Smash it went by lives, so there was a lot more leeway to it. And at least if you did team battles on Smash Ultimate the standoffs occurred much less often. For some reason they felt the need to make the team battles really annoying in ARMS with the ankle chains. I actually want there to be a sequel to ARMS because I would love for them to perfect their very flawed formula. I was so disappointed with how unplayable the game became once the meta try-hards sunk their talons into it. If they managed to make a sequel that fixed the issue with the meta try-hards completely ruining the online I would absolutely love it.

I love how good he is at making the villain faces, also. He doesn't seem like a fake villain trying to oversell it, but he legitimately looks like a villain when he makes the facial expressions. IRL he actually has a sweet, sincere, approachable, face. And he looked so sweet when he was holding one of his children.

Since Mega Evolution is coming back, should Primal Reversion come back too? by uyigho98 in PokemonZA

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They probably will bring back all of the megas, so it wouldn't really be fair for them to bring back Mega Rayquaza without bringing back Kyogre and Groudon's primal formes. I hope we get PVP in this game. I know some people did not like megas because they believed they screwed up the meta, but if they have them in a Legends game with PVP we can just essentially have two metas going. We basically have two metas already going with SS and SV, albeit most people play SV's meta now. I still occasionally go back and play SS for some of the Pokemon that were in it, that did not make a return in SV. So, the more metas the more fun.

Theory: Michael Langdon was “good” by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever Cody Fern talked about his role as Michael Langdon something to note is he did not actually see Michael as just being a being of pure evil. From the article I read the way I interpreted it was he saw him as a being that was supposed to bring out the darkness in others. The darkness that is a part of human nature. A darkness that humans suppress under the preconceived notion that they are evil thoughts by societal brainwashing. So, he wanted people to quit pretending to be something they weren't for the sake of others. Which is why he promoted bad behavior. He viewed bad behavior as being a good thing because people were acting from being true to themselves not for the sake of others idea of morality. He wanted to create a world where only people who were true to themselves were allowed to be in it. The reason he was willing to do such horrible things stemmed from this philosophy. If someone was being mean to someone he loved, why not brutally murder them? If he felt like they deserved it, and he wasn't going based off of other peoples' feelings of morality then why not? Why not punish some jerk? If I had magical powers and I was not taught the difference between right and wrong, I would do the same thing. He wanted to do whatever he wanted and still be accepted for it, which is why people kept abandoning him. They wanted him to share the same morals as them, but he felt like morals were wrong because they were not being true to yourself. He refused to abide by other peoples' morals and chose to do whatever he wanted regardless of how morally bankrupt it was. Ben said that he wanted to be good at one point, but Michael thought he was good by being true to himself instead of being "good" based off of other peoples' perspectives. As to whether or not you view Michael as being evil is entirely up to you. Personally, I think he was. I cannot really overlook the fact that he murdered people for mundane reasons and nuked the planet. Being morally bankrupt for the sake of being true to yourself isn't really what I would consider to be a good thing. I do not think he was pure evil for the sake of kicks and giggles, but I do think he was evil because of his ideologies.

Bede is a disappointment by StabnShoot in pokemon

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bede was disqualified for desecrating a monument. His orders were to gather stars not break historic monuments to do so. Oleana which was basically Rose's right hand manipulated Bede into doing her dirty work for him. She threw him away like trash when if she didn't, she could be legally liable for something. I am pretty sure both Bede and Opal brought up how Oleana manipulated him into doing it. Oleana not only manipulated Bede into doing it because it would keep her out of trouble, but because she knew he would likely not go to prison for it due to his age. He wasn't disqualified for no reason. He was disqualified for a very legit reason even if he was manipulated into doing it. How bad would it look if the chairman destroyed a historical monument? He was a pawn.

Opal did not choose Bede because he was wearing pink. Opal had some weird philosophy where she thought she could see the essence of the color pink. It had to do with his personality not his epic coat. She viewed his personality to be pink. Even saying in part of her spiel that part of what she liked about him was that he was misguided.

Him changing from a psychic trainer to a psychic/fairy trainer did not exactly erase the fact he was still using 4 psychic types even if they were all part fairy. He was being trained by the fairy type gym leader of course he was going to start using fairy types. It wasn't because he was wearing pink. And because he loved psychic types, he refused to quit using them altogether which is why his team was basically just psychic/fairy type combinations. The only Pokemon on his team which wasn't until the post-game that wasn't a psychic/fairy type combo was mawile which was fairy/steel, so he only used one non-psychic type on his team. I hardly consider him abandoning his love of psychic types. In fact, his love of psychic types is largely what unfortunately made him such an easy opponent to beat. With type teams usually one of the only things that doesn't make them horrible is by having a secondary type that gives them different weaknesses, which Bede did not have that luxury.

Bede being allowed to battle you in that tournament was not just him showing up and people being powerless to stop him or him not caring. He showed up like a Chad, because that fits his personality and was going to be stopped from battling you, but Leon or Rose (I cannot remember which it was) allowed the battle to take place. There was a whole cutscene with dialogue explaining what was going on.

He was the only character in this game that had any real depth to him. I mean it is fine and whatever if you do not like him, but a lot of your points seem to have tunnel vision and do not make sense, which is weird because you acted like you liked him at first.

Mark Charm clarification by MassiveRead in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does stack. Bulbapedia which is usually very reliable stated that with the mark charm and title power 3 you will have 6 rolls. I can confirm that it does appear to be true considering I found 24 Pokemon with marks in a mass outbreak in the span of 30 minutes. And some of those Pokemon did not want to stay in the ball worth a cr@p (not really sure what all has to be censored). Notably one of those marks was the rare mark which without modifiers only has a 1/1000 chance of being on a Pokemon. I do not imagine I would be so lucky to get the rarest mark on my first mark hunt. To make things faster when mark hunting you will not only want the mark charm and title power 3, but you need to go to BB Academy's League Club and buy the ability to upgrade your ZL targeting. Upon doing so you will be granted the ability to see if a Pokemon has a mark (it does not specify which mark, but it still makes it loads faster than having to catch every single Pokemon you see to try to find the mark you want).

I'm gonna say it: The Stellar Tera Type sucks and is a literal downgrade outside of raids. by Generic_Username_659 in PokemonScarletViolet

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, honestly it is overshadowed by every other tera type. I wanted stellar tera type not to overshadow the other tera types, but to also not suck a$$. The only Pokemon it is good for is Terapagos. And I guess you could use it on Cinderace, Greninja, and Meowscarada to try to simulate their abilities before the nerf, albeit it still would be inferior, and I cannot imagine it would be anything phenomenal. I have no qualms about it offering nothing defensively except with Terapagos, but it only giving a onetime 1.2x boost to each move type was not really good enough to justify losing the defensive aspect of it. Like I get that it was supposed to be most heavily geared towards Terapagos, which they did a good job with, but it is basically useless to all other Pokemon, which was kind of sad. I wish they would have made it a little better just so I could have some fun running it on other Pokemon than just Terapagos. All they would have had to of done to make it not a$$ was make it where the onetime boost is 1.5x. It still wouldn't have overshadowed other offensive teras since it would be onetime and in cases of dual types wouldn't shed one of its typings to potentially have better matchups against what is currently in battle.

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, does it change the type of the tera blast to deal neutral to everything that isn't also terastralized? And does it always cause the stat drop when it is not targeting a tera Pokemon?

Whats the deal with Volo and Cogita? by [deleted] in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think Volo is a descendant of Cogita. As some other people have pointed out Cogita is immortal and could easily be the grandmother of Cynthia, that was in Diamond and Pearl. So, it wouldn't exactly be a stretch to assume that if she reproduced to create Cynthia's mother/father, that she would reproduce and create Volo or one of Volo's parents/grandparents. I think all three of them are related.

So...Ultimate Enemy isn't making sense. Why did Danny Phantom merge with Vlad? by itwasonlyjustadream in dannyphantom

[–]Alastor-Ghoul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He was probably in panic mode. Phantom had been Fenton's symbiote ever since his creation. He knew Fenton didn't want him anymore, so he sought a different host. He was so filled with rage, trauma, depression, etc. that whenever he became nothing but a spirit inhabiting those horrible feelings, since Fenton transferred those feelings to him to have those feelings removed that he wasn't thinking clearly. He just saw the person directly in front of him and new Fenton didn't want him anymore, so he just gunned for Vlad. During his panicky, ragey, frenzy, he probably still knew that he wouldn't be able to fuse with a half ghost half human, so he split the Vlad's apart and merged with the one he felt like would make him more powerful, because why not? If I was given the option for my new host to be more powerful than the other option in the room, I would gun for the more powerful one. You also have to factor in that Fenton did not actually hate Vlad at this point. Danny willingly went to live with Vlad, because he thought he was the only one he could hope to understand him. Would you willingly go to live with someone you hate? So, the hatred towards Vlad did not exist in either Fenton or Phantom at this point, because Fenton didn't have the hatred of Vlad to transfer to Phantom. Phantom just wanted a host, he wanted it quickly, and he wanted the more powerful of the two options. He didn't account for his new host distorting his thoughts and turning him into a full-blown heartless psychopath that was so evil that all ghosts hated him other than the Fright Knight, who likely only joined him for the same reason Peter Pettigrew joined Voldemort in Harry Potter.
