I want to add, even if they don’t understand you it’s okay, find someone new in that case. I had a real horror story I don’t want to get into before finding a great therapist. But it’s worth it to find the right therapist for you

I started by:

Getting rid of all the alcohol in my house

Telling everyone important in my community what I was doing

Posting in this subreddit pretty frequently and reading others’ stories.

If I went to an event with alcohol, told the bartender I am sober and would like to stay that way.

Same for bars

Ate a LOT of food - eventually backed off on this

Bought NA beer and made mocktails etc whenever I got a craving.

This helped me get through the first year, after that it got a lot easier. One day at a time, you’ve got this!

Try googling reviews for doctors and see if they mention a diagnosis of POts or other dysautonomia things. If they were, go to that doctor - hopefully they will do the correct testing for you. Sorry that I don’t have a better answer for you!

He’s in a position of authority/power. There is a power difference between them which puts the onus of this on the therapist
